  • Patent number: 4238323
Abstract: Electrodynamic separation of nonmagnetic free-flowing materials is accomplished by feeding the flow of a material into a region of maximum intensity of a variable nonuniform magnetic field for inducing maximum eddy currents in electrically conducting particles of the material being separated and producing maximum electromagnetic forces which deflect the electrically conducting particles from the direction of feed of the material being separated. The variable nonuniform magnetic field is generated by an electromagnet having a closed magnetic core with a magnetic air gap defined by pole pieces. The electromagnet pole pieces are symmetrically divergent from the pole axes in a plane substantially perpendicular to the direction of feed of the material being separated.

  • Patent number: 4238339
Abstract: The disclosed arrangement for supporting stator end windings of an electric machine comprises a rigid inner ring and an outer ring, said rings being made of electrically insulating material. The inner ring is mounted coaxially with the inner bore of the stator core and supports the end portions of a stator bar winding, and the outer ring externally embraces these end portions. Both rings are mounted and secured together along the head portions of the end windings. The inner ring is attached to Z-shaped members arranged adjacent to the end portions and preventing the inner ring from axial displacement relative to the end portions. This is achieved due to the fact that a projection of each Z-shaped member, facing the end surface of the core, is positioned between winding bars at their outlet from core slots, said projection being rigidly connected with one of the brackets movably associated with a clamping plate of the core and attached to the outer ring.

  • Patent number: 4236412
Abstract: This invention provides a pressure transmitting and sealing apparatus between a high or low pressure fluid line and a gauge monitoring the pressure of the fluid in the line. This apparatus transmits pressure fluctuations between the measured fluid and a dissimilar fluid in the standing line connected to the measuring gauge. The invention is particularly applicable in instances where the ambient temperature is below the freezing point of the measured fluid and a non-freezing fluid is required in the standing line and gauge. The apparatus comprises an in-line piston and cylinder unit which transmits variations in the pressure in the measured line to the fluid in the standing line to the gauge, while maintaining separation of the two fluids and at the same time allowing the non-freezing fluid in the standing line to lubricate the piston and cylinder. In the event of a break in the standing line, the piston will prevent leakage from the measured fluid line.

  • Patent number: 4237398
Abstract: According to the invention, the stator of an electrical machine comprises a slotted core and a multilayer bar winding partially received in the core slots and partially accommodated in the air gap of the electrical machine. Interposed between the bars of the multilayer bar winding are spacers whose slots accommodate brace members enveloping each of the bars of the multilayer bar winding on its opposite sides. Each of the brace members is attched to two rollers, one of which is secured in a spring clip received in an axial slot of the stator core, and the other of which is accommodated in a threaded pin received, in turn, in a hole provided in an insulating wedge member. The invention improves the maintainability of the electrical machine, making it as easy to maintain as any conventional slotted machine. The invention also improves the space factor of the electrical machine's air gap and accounts for a better fastening of the multilayer bar winding of the machine's stator.
