  • Patent number: 8320934
Abstract: A system and method of dynamically updating an almanac of base stations with wireless phones that are controlled by end users. First, second, and third location information are received respectfully from a first, second, and third wireless phones. A position of each wireless device is known. The distance between each wireless device an uncooperative base station is determined while accounting for an uncertainty factor. A location of the uncooperative base station is calculated using the first, second, and third location information and the distances. The almanac is updated with the location.

  • Patent number: 8121535
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided to configure a frequency repeater. The frequency repeater is configured with an identity of a service provider and receives a message that defines a set of frequencies to be repeated, the frequencies are associated with a service provider that matches the preconfigured identity. A digital filter receives an incoming signal from the service provider, and filters and repeats the frequencies defined in the received message. The frequency receiver can also determine a set of frequencies to be filtered and repeated based on a cell search procedure performed with a modem that resides in the repeater. A policy established by the service provider can also be utilized to facilitate defining the set of figures to be repeated. By utilizing a signal quality metric and an isolation metric associated, with the performance of a receive and transmit antenna utilized by the repeater, the set of frequencies to be filtered and repeated can be adapted in real time.

Abstract: A repeater environment is provided operative to deploy a feedback cancellation loop that is adaptively coupled with an antenna array such that a selected metric can be derived by deploying a selected filter bank operative to process the signal on a bin by bin basis and the derived metric can be applied to the antenna array and feedback cancellation loop combination to improve signal integrity and amplification. In an illustrative implementation, an exemplary repeater environment comprises, a transmitter, a receiver, an equalized feedback cancellation loop circuitry comprising a filter bank, the cancellation loop being operatively coupled to an antenna array. In the illustrative implementation, the feedback cancellation loop can receive signals as input from a cooperating antenna array and provide output signals such as a feedback leakage signal to a cooperating antenna array.

  • Patent number: 8094072
Abstract: A mobile receiver having a coherent integration time that can be adaptively lengthened and shortened. The coherent integration time is based on determining whether information is already known regarding a received satellite signal. Thus, when information, such as, ephemeris, satellite clock, time, almanac, and/or other information, is known, the coherent integration time can be set to a longer time and when information is not known, the information can be set at a shorter time frame.

  • Patent number: 8072379
Abstract: A position location system, apparatus, and method are disclosed. A wireless device includes a satellite positioning system (SPS) receiver and position location processor. The SPS receiver detects the availability of positioning signals and the position location processor determines an initial position of the wireless device based upon the positioning signals. A controller generates power saving events when the positioning signals are detected as being available. The controller determines the timing and duration of the power saving events. During a power saving event, the SPS receiver is deactivated and/or processing of the positioning signals is suspended to reduce power consumption of the wireless device. The initial position is updated based upon relative positioning information from one or more sensors during the power saving event. The controller activates the SPS receiver and resumes processing of the positioning signals following the power saving event.
