  • Patent number: 6055435
Abstract: A wireless power line carrier voice and data communication device is provided. The device permits a user to connect one or more electronic devices to surge suppress and isolated AC power connections while simultaneously providing a communication channel between telephone equipment, such as telephone extensions, modems and/or facsimile machines, across the AC power lines to a remote telephone connection. This invention prevents the degradation of the voice and/or data signal across the power lines that would otherwise be induced by the AC connected electronic equipment. Furthermore, this invention provides a cost effective, convenient solution to the data processing user who requires access to telephone lines, for voice, data or both, as well as AC power outlets for electronic equipment all from a physical location some distance from a convenient phone connector. The isolation and surge suppression circuitry is designed specifically to address the power line carrier environment.

  • Patent number: 6053864
Abstract: A method and system for providing emergency medical counseling to arrest patients remotely is described. A consistent, standard and systematic process is provided which in combination with adequate training, supervision and quality assurance serves to provide a method for gathering emergency medical information regarding providing emergency medical dispatch services to arrest patients, categorizing such information into various determinant levels for appropriate response, and for giving qualified emergency medical information to callers thereby permitting "zero time" response by those at the scene. By using this invention properly a dispatcher is guided through the interrogation of callers concerned with arrest patients, gathering critical information and giving the appropriate guidance to the caller.

  • Patent number: 6024372
Abstract: An improved fifth-wheel extension adapter is described whose design provides the adaptability necessary for mating of the extension adapter with all known trailer king pin designs, which further provides improved contact with the trailer king pin and which provides structure for visually observing the relative position of the extension adapter and the hitch assembly located in the bed of the towing vehicle. The fifth-wheel extension adapter comprises a vertical column, a bottom portion designed to releasably connect to the hitch assembly and a top portion designed to adjustably mate to a wide range of trailer king pin designs. The fifth-wheel extension adapter is further designed to be easily attachable and easily removable permitting the operator maximum flexible use of the towing vehicle as well as the ability, with only one extension adapter to tow the widest variety of fifth-wheel trailers.

  • Patent number: 6023813
Abstract: An automatic floor scrubber and buffer is described. This invention provides for simultaneous scrubbing and buffing of floors through the use of a plurality of pads operating at different speeds to optimize the scrubbing and buffing operation of the device. This invention also provides for the application of cleaning solution and the means of removing, collecting and storing the resulting dirty water and cleaning solution prior to the application of the buffers. Moreover, this invention provides the means for easily pivoting the scrubbing and buffing pads, thereby removing them from contact with the floor for transportation, removal or replacement. Also, this invention provides a propane powered drive motor thereby providing improved service life as well as permitting use where electricity is not readily available.

  • Patent number: 6019024
Abstract: An operating system for automatic rifles is described which permits a user to easily remove and replace the bolt and bolt carrier from the rifle, without requiring the user to employ special tools. This invention permits the user to reconfigure the rifle to fire a wide range of different calibers of cartridges, as well as to reconfigure the rifle to feed ammunition from either the top or the bottom of the firearm. This invention further improves the reliability and decreases the manufacturing cost of the operating system by reducing the number of required components. This invention also provides an ergonomic, left hand sided, non-reciprocating cocking handle. The cocking handle assembly is provided with a slot cover which keeps debris from entering the interior of the rifle.

  • Patent number: 6012246
Abstract: A buttstock is described which contains an enclosure for storage of tools and parts, and which is totally accessible to the user through a butt plate held in place by a removable pin. This buttstock invention also has a sling attachment device which is designed to be positionable on either side of the buttstock, for either left or right side carrying and which cooperates with the butt plate pin to hold each in position. The sling attachment devices is relocatable with mounting points at various places on the stock to permit multiple user carrying styles. This invention affords assembly and disassembly without the use of special tools and therefore can be easily done by the user in the field. This invention is also preferably composed of a strong light weight material which is adapted for ease of use, is non-corrosive, and supports low cost manufacture.

  • Patent number: 6011560
Abstract: A device and method for displaying the status of programs or processes in a computer system is described. The device is designed to communicate the status to the user in an intuitive manner with four configurations indicating: process running normally, process running intermittently, process stopped normally, and process halted unexpectedly. The device when properly used by the method combine to form a communications device which clearly and easily communicates to the user of the computer system the operational status of the selected program, routine or process and does so without requiring the allocation of significant continuous processing overhead.

  • Patent number: 5983839
Abstract: A device for repelling potentially bulling cattle is described. This invention addresses the problem of the mounting and/or riding of confined animals by other cattle confined in the same pen by providing a permeable container which holds a pungent smelling substance and which is easily attachable to the animal which is to be protected. This invention discourages bulling by masking the pheromones of the animal to be protected by an odor which is repellant to cattle. This invention achieves the objective of reducing or eliminating the bulling characteristics of penned bovine in a manner that is cost effective, easy to install and maintain, and which induces no health risk to the animals involved. Thereby, this invention provides, for cattle producers, substantial cost savings, both is reduction of cattle losses and management facilities and labors.

  • Patent number: 5979579
Abstract: A cutting element is provided for use with drill used in the drilling and boring through subterranean formations. This new cutter has improved wear characteristics while maximizing the manufacturability and cost effectiveness of the cutter. This invention accomplishes these objectives by incorporating a single chamfer of increased size. This chamfer is introduced on the periphery of the abrasive cutting face of the cutter. This chamfer has been found to reduce the tensile stress within the cutter, which tensile stress is primarily responsible for spalling and delamination of the abrasive layer of the cutter.
