Abstract: The present invention provides a bi-directional ball seat and method of use. In at least one embodiment, the present invention provides a fluid control system that includes a radial protrusion that can be selectively engaged and disengaged upstream and/or from a ball seat. For example, a ball can be placed in a passageway, engaged with a downstream ball seat, and the radial protrusion radially extended into the passageway distally from the seat relative to the ball. A reverse movement of the ball is restricted by the active radial movement of the radial protrusion into the passageway. The control system can be used to control a variety of tools associated with the well. Without limitation, the tools can include crossover tools, sleeves, packers, safety valves, separators, gravel packers, perforating guns, decoupling tools, valves, and other tools know to those with ordinary skills in the art.

Abstract: A water chilling system includes a reservoir having an inlet and an outlet and a cooling device, such as a thermoelectric cooling probe, situated to cool water contained in the reservoir. A baffle is situated adjacent the inlet to direct water entering the reservoir to a predetermined area of the reservoir such the warmer water entering the reservoir does not immediately mix with the chilled water near the cooling probe.
Abstract: An auger assembly suitable for use with a food separator is provided with a removable brush. The auger assembly includes an auger defining a channel around the crest thereof. A brush is received in the channel and defining a flange at each end thereof. First and second retaining clips are removably attached to opposite ends of the auger, with each retaining clip defining an opening therethrough that receives a respective flange to secure the brush within the channel.
Abstract: A self-cleaning litter apparatus that separates and extracts clumped litter waste material from litter material contained therein during use includes a chamber adapted to contain a quantity of litter material. The chamber is rotatable about a centrally disposed axis. A rake is disposed within the chamber. The rake is rotatable about an axis which is spaced apart from the chamber axis. A drive assembly is provided for simultaneously rotating the chamber about the chamber axis and for rotating the rake about the rake axis. The rake sweeps through the litter material while clumped litter waste material is directed toward the rake by rotation of the chamber to thereby separate clumped litter waste material from the litter material in the chamber, collect the separated clumped litter material in the rake and extract the separated clumped litter material from the chamber.
Abstract: A pressure responsive estrus detector includes a housing having a first and second oppositely disposed side walls. A first interior wall is disposed within the housing and connected to the first side wall to create a first fluid chamber. The first interior wall has a top and bottom and an aperture disposed adjacent to the top. A second interior wall is disposed within the housing and connected to the second side wall to create a second fluid chamber. The second interior side wall is disposed adjacent to the first interior side wall. The second interior side wall has a top and bottom, aligned with the top and bottom of the first interior side wall. The second interior side wall includes an aperture disposed adjacent to the bottom. Fluid is disposed within the housing and flowable between the first and second fluid chambers via the first and second interior wall apertures by pressure applied to either one of said side walls by a mounting animal.
Abstract: An adapter for connecting a hose to a hose receptacle of an object in a locking relationship. The adapter includes a first end adapted to be fixedly attached to one of the hose receptacle or the hose and a second end having a first locking element adapted to selectively engage a second locking element to establish a locking relationship. The adapter is suitable for adapting a friction-based vacuum appliance hose connection receptacle such that it can be used with a hose-locking mechanism to selectively, securely lock the hose to the vacuum appliance.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for monitoring and controlling a backup power source and one or more critical loads powered thereby is disclosed. The apparatus is constructed in the form of an electrical distribution panel that includes electronic systems for monitoring the current to the critical loads. In the event of an overcurrent condition on one or more critical load circuits, the system is able to disable power flow to the offending circuit so as to protect the remaining critical load circuits and the backup power source. The system is also provided with a means for communicating status information about the system to a remote user.

Abstract: A fiber optic communications network includes multiple transmitters and multiple receivers connected by an optical WDM transmission link, the receivers having output channels for providing signals to terminal devices, each receiver including a demodulator to detect and recover a received signal, and the network includes at least one optical amplifier having a shutdown input for actuating the safety shut down of the network upon detecting a disconnect in the transmission line. The system includes circuitry connected to the output of each of the demodulators for sensing the presence of a valid signal and for determining whether a predetermined number of valid signals are present at the demodulators. If the number of valid signals detected is less than the predetermined majority number, the safety shutdown function is actuated.
Abstract: An isolation string having: an upper packer; and an isolation pipe in mechanical communication with the upper packer, wherein the isolation pipe comprises a pressure activated valve and an object activated valve. A method having: running-in an isolation string on a service tool, wherein the isolation string comprises a pressure activated valve and a object activated valve; setting the isolation string in the casing adjacent perforations in the casing; releasing an object from the service tool, whereby the object travels to the object activated valve; closing the object activated valve with the released object; and withdrawing the service tool from the well.

Abstract: A pressing tool (13) includes a fluid pump (4), a cylinder element (5) arranged connecting with this and a piston which can be slid forward in the cylinder element (5) by pressure fluid of the fluid pump (4) and reset by a return spring (20a). A piston rod (6) is passed out to the cylinder element (5) as an activation part. The pressing tool (13) is moreover outfitted with a position measuring device (12, 12a; 112, 212, 212a) which measures without contact which makes the piston position continuously detectable over a positioning range free of disturbance and with a presence sensor (52). The presence sensor (52) verifies the presence of a jointing clamp (51) and issues an indicator signal in the event that a jointing clamp (51) is missing or improperly fastened and shuts the pressing tool (13) off following a delay period to the extent that no orderly inserted jointing clamp (51) is yet available.
