  • Patent number: 7502154
Abstract: A method and system for aligning a spatial light modulator with respect to an imaging device is disclosed. An image of the spatial light modulator can be formed upon the imaging device and a controller can be used to position optical elements in a manner that effects translation, rotation, and scaling of the image so as to provide desired alignment. Such alignment can, for example, facilitate enhanced wavefront correction so as to at least partially compensate for the detrimental effects of atmospheric distortion in such applications as optical communications, imaging, and weaponry.

  • Patent number: 7495993
Abstract: A semiconductor memory device and an associated method suitable for use in specific applications with predictable memory access pattern, such as in a capsule camera. The memory device takes advantage of the memory access pattern to simplify address processing circuit to realize savings in power and silicon area. Because random access to the semiconductor device is not required, the interface from external to the semiconductor device is also simplified by eliminating at least the address port that is used to specify the memory locations accessed. The method is applicable not only to non-volatile memory technologies (e.g., flash memory), it is also applicable to volatile memory technologies, such as transient charge storage-based memory circuits (e.g., DRAMs) and metastable states-based memory circuits (e.g., SRAMs).

  • Patent number: 7495852
Abstract: A zoom lens assembly for a miniature camera, such as those used in cellular telephones and other personal electronic devices, is disclosed. One or more lenses of the zoom lens assembly are moved in and/or out of the optical path of the zoom lens assembly to change the magnification of the lens. Since the magnification does not necessarily require movement of lenses along the optical path of the camera, the length of the zoom lens assembly, and consequently of the camera as well, is substantially reduced.

  • Patent number: 7496112
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and apparatuses for allocating time slots to circuit-switched channels established to comprise one or more respective time slots in a recurrent frame of a time division multiplexed network. According to the invention, a time slot allocated to said channel is associated with a selected level, of at least two available levels of priority. Decisions as to whether or not to deallocate said time slot from said channel is then based upon a comparison of said selected level of priority and a level of priority associated with a request for a time slot for another channel.

  • Patent number: 7495801
Abstract: Color is edited using a color representation including digital values B (brightness), C (chroma) and H (hue) such that B=?{square root over (D2+E2+F2)}, cos C=D/B and tan H=E/F, where DEF is a linear color coordinate system. The hue can be changed without changing the brightness and without changing the saturation if the H coordinate is changed without changing B and C. Also, the brightness can be changed without a color shift by changing the B coordinate and leaving unchanged the C and H coordinates. Other features are also provided.

  • Patent number: 7492427
Abstract: An LCD device includes a first substrate having a first base substrate, patterns disposed at different heights with respect to the first base substrate, and an insulation layer formed on the first base substrate and the patterns. The insulation layer has raised portions corresponding to the patterns. A side of the raised portions forms an inclination angle of no more than about 45° when a height of the raised portions is more than about 3000 angstroms, the side of the raised portions forms an inclination angle of no more than about 50° when a height of the raised portions is in a range of about 2000 angstroms to about 3000 angstroms, and the side of the raised portions forms an inclination angle of no more than about 90° when a height of the raised portions is more than about 2000 angstroms. Therefore, light leakage may be minimized.

  • Patent number: 7491222
Abstract: A cosmetic treatment apparatus comprises a discharge lamp, a capacitor, and a current controller. The capacitor supplies an electric current for the discharge lamp. The current controller controls the electric current flowing from the capacitor to the discharge lamp. In a first stage of the cosmetic treatment, the current controller performs a constant current control operation. In this operation, the current flowing to the lamp does not vary with variations of the capacitor voltage. In the end stage of the treatment, the current is lower, and it decreases with the capacitor voltage.

  • Patent number: 7487900
Abstract: Apparatus for diffusion bonding, brazing, or joining between respective surfaces of two parts, e.g., the exterior wall of a first annular cylinder and the interior wall of a concentric second annular cylinder, includes a cylindrical body having a circumferential cavity positioned between upper and lower ends thereof. A flexible annular membrane is disposed concentrically over the cavity, and respective upper and lower ends of the membrane are each sealingly hinged to the body. The body is assembled coaxially within the first cylinder, and the assembly then inserted coaxially into the second cylinder to the desired axial bonding position. The cavity is pressurized, causing the membrane, and responsively, the first cylinder, to expand radially within the second cylinder. The temperature of the parts is then raised and maintained for a selected period of time to bond the respective walls of the two cylinders to each other.
