    Abstract: An apparatus and method for manufacturing a display device substrate are provided. In one embodiment, the apparatus comprises a clamp for clamping an edge of a plastic substrate, and a tension member applying tension along a surface of the plastic substrate by interacting with the clamp to strain the plastic substrate. Advantageously, the flexible plastic substrate is substantially prevented from deflecting in a manufacturing process thereby reducing defects in the display device substrate.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for driving a display device, as well as a display device incorporating such method and apparatus, are presented. The method includes determining a first difference ?1, wherein ?1 is a difference between gray signals of two consecutive frames, comparing ?1 to a predetermined value to obtain a comparison result, and using the comparison result to determine a modified current gray signal. The modified current gray signal is applied to a current frame to improve image quality. In another aspect, the invention includes a method of driving a display device by determining the gray signal levels for a first frame, a second frame that follows the first frame, and a third frame. A modified current gray signal is determined based on the relative magnitudes of the three gray signal levels, and applied to the current frame.

The first auxiliary electrode portion protrudes from the main electrode portion. The first auxiliary electrode portion corresponds to an outer discharge space adjacent to a side of the lamp body. Therefore, a luminance of the flat-type fluorescent lamp may be made more uniform, thereby improving an image display quality. In addition, operation of the flat-type fluorescent lamp at a low temperature may be improved.

    Abstract: A holder 1 is formed by laminating support members 3, 4 and 5 and passing holder holes 2 through them. A pair of needle members 9 and 10 are provided on either end of the coil spring 8. Each of the needle members 9 on one side is prevented from coming off by one of the support members 3. The length L between the flange portion 9b received in a large diameter hole 2b of the holder hole and the tip of the needle portion 10a is made substantially equal to the depth D of the large diameter hole 2b of the holder 1. Because the coil springs are thus placed substantially in an unstressed state, when at least one of the needle members is prevented from projecting from a corresponding end of the holder hole, the part that prevents the needle members from coming off is not subjected to a compressive load of the coil springs.

    Abstract: A gate line is formed on a substrate in a horizontal direction and a data repair line is formed on the same layer as the gate line in a vertical direction. The repair line is divided into two portions with respect to the gate line. A gate insulating film is formed on the gate line and the data repair line, and a data line is formed on the gate insulating film along the repair line having a smaller width than the repair line, a passivation film being deposited thereon. Contact holes are formed in the passivation film, and contact holes to expose both ends of the divided repair line are formed in the passivation film and gate insulating film. A transparent connecting pattern formed on the passivation film contacts the data line and the repair line through the contact holes. Both ends of the repair line are extended from the data line. A pixel electrode is formed on the passivation film, and the pixel electrode overlaps the edges of the repair line at a predetermined width.

    Abstract: A method and system for identifying foreign objection (FOD) in items such as aircraft are disclosed. The item may be imaged using x-ray backscatter before and after work is performed thereon. The image taken before work may be subtracted from the image taken after the work to provide a resultant image. The resultant image may indicate the presence of any FOD. Potential FOD in the resultant image may be checked against a database of known FOD to determine the identity thereof. By finding FOD, the occurrence of catastrophes such as aircraft crashes may be mitigated.
