  • Patent number: 8348922
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide a device, system and method for the transdermal iontophoretic delivery of therapeutic agents. One embodiment provides a method comprising applying first and second patches to the skin. The first patch comprises a delivery electrode, a therapeutic agent and two lateral electrodes. The second patch comprises at least a delivery electrode. A first current is delivered to the skin and create a first driving force to transport the agent into the skin. A second current is delivered to the skin and creates a second driving force to oscillate the agent in a direction substantially parallel to the skin. The agent is transported across the skin using the first driving force to propel the agent into the skin, and the second driving force to oscillate the agent substantially parallel to the skin surface so that it is sieved through pathways of least diffusional resistance in the skin.

  • Patent number: 8344745
Abstract: The fabrication of the wafer may be analyzed starting from when the wafer is in a partially fabricated state. The value of a specified performance parameter may be determined at a plurality of test structures located on an active area of a die of the wafer. The specified performance parameter is known to be indicative of a particular fabrication process in the fabrication. Evaluation information may then be obtained based on a variance of the value of the performance parameter at the plurality of locations. This may be done without affecting a usability of a chip that is created from the die. The evaluation information may be used to evaluate how one or more processes that include the particular fabrication process that was indicated by the performance parameter value was performed.

  • Patent number: 8334805
Abstract: A satellite navigation receiver having a digital front end. The satellite navigation receiver includes an analog section for receiving, amplifying, and filtering a satellite navigation signal. The digital front end is coupled to the analog section and is used to perform digital signal processing on the satellite navigation signal before it is passed on to the acquisition and tracking engines. By off-loading some of the functionality from the analog section to the digital front end, the analog section may be made smaller and cheaper and may consume less power. Moreover, additional functionalities can be added to the digital front end to improve performance. Since the digital front end is comprised of digital circuitry, it scales down in size, cost, and power with advances in semiconductor fabrication techniques.

  • Patent number: 8332680
Abstract: A memory system permits synchronized transmission of data with multiple memory modules in a dynamically expandable bus system such as with a point-to-point memory bus using strobed data transmission. Memory modules of the system are selectively configured to switch transmission modes to either transmit data to a memory controller or a timing reference signal to another memory module from a common terminal coupled to a common path of the bus which may depend on the number of memory modules configured in the system. The system permits all memory modules to operate with a strobed based memory controller even when some memory modules of the system do not share a strobe signal path with the memory controller of the system.

  • Patent number: 8326879
Abstract: A method and system are provided for using the contents of voice files as a basis for enabling search and other selection operations for data items that are associated with those voice files. Voice files may be received having associations with other data items, such as images or records. A corresponding text file is generated for each of the one or more voice files using programmatic means, such as a speech-to-text application. Each text file is provided an association with a data item based on the association of the voice file that served as the basis of its creation. Each text file is then made available for the performance of search and selection operations that result in the identification of associated data items.

  • Patent number: 8310064
Abstract: Semiconductor devices are provided that employ voltage switchable materials for over-voltage protection. In various implementations, the voltage switchable materials are substituted for conventional die attach adhesives, underfill layers, and encapsulants. While the voltage switchable material normally functions as a dielectric material, during an over-voltage event the voltage switchable material becomes electrically conductive and can conduct electricity to ground. Accordingly, the voltage switchable material is in contact with a path to ground such as a grounded trace on a substrate, or a grounded solder ball in a flip-chip package.
