  • Patent number: 4100774
Abstract: A lockset of the type having a bolt reciprocal from and to a door edge by an operating mechanism including a crank hub and locks at opposite door faces has tubular torque blades between the locks and crank hub for transmitting rotative motion from the locks to the crank hub and ultimately to the bolt for the bolt reciprocations. Both of the torque blades have tubular inner ends of D-shaped cross section with one extending axially a major part of a crank hub D-shaped cross section axial opening and telescoping the other within the crank hub. Outer enlarged tubular ends of the torque blades are telescoped by ends of lock plugs of the respective locks and have partially circumferentially extending slots formed therein receiving radial tongues of washer-like members positioned circumferentially over the lock plug ends. Thus, the torque blade inner ends are single position, rotative drive connected to the crank hub and outer ends thereof are lost motion drive connected to the locks.

  • Patent number: 4100928
Abstract: Telescoped inlet and outlet tubes having a valve between upper extremities thereof are each formed with end telescoped, upper and lower parts, the tube upper parts being assembled movable together and the tube lower parts being assembled movable together for simultaneously increasing and decreasing the respective tube end telescoping to selectively change the overall height of the ball cock. Positive securement in a height adjusted position against straight vertical relative movement is obtained by positive radial interengagement between the outlet tube parts with either selective relative rotation or selective release of the interengagement with re-engagement providing the height adjustment. An upper main case covers the valve assembly and an inner end of a float connected valve actuating lever projects into the upper main case to a case slot, being pivoted therein and operably connected to the valve.

  • Patent number: 4091925
Abstract: A preferably plastic film flower sleeve has side edge heat sealed front and back panels tapering inwardly in downward extension providing upper and lower open ends. Each panel has a centralized nonperforated area which increases progressively in transverse width during its downward progression bordered by transversely opposite perforated groups decreasing correspondingly in transverse width during downward progression, the perforated groups also being defined by nonperforated upper and lower end portions. A flower sleeve may be rearwardly rack suspended and forwardly hand suspended during insertion of a flower bunch downwardly therein, the flower bunch stems being maintained forwardly aligned with the progressively increasing nonperforated areas to avoid snagging and the stems ultimately projecting from the sleeve lower end while the increased size flowers of the bunch automatically transversely expand the sleeve perforated groups.

  • Patent number: 4083310
Abstract: This invention relates to a vehicle guidance system where the vehicles incorporate wheels having tires thereupon to follow a track of predetermined cross-section. The vehicle is provided with sensors to continuously sense the lateral location of the vehicle relative to the cross-section of the track and the yaw angle of the vehicle with respect to the longitudinal axis of the track. A modulator receives the output of the sensor to drive the steering system of the vehicle in order to correct for deviations of the vehicle from its predetermined relationship with the track contour.

  • Patent number: 4080986
Abstract: An essentially closed hollow body of the float receives liquid in a lower portion for ballast and air in an upper portion for floatation with a vertical guide sleeve therethrough being offset at one side of the hollow interior slightly spaced inwardly of a part of the body sidewall. A liquid and air flow opening is formed through the body sidewall part horizontally centered relative to the guide sleeve so that flow paths are created segregated approximately one half around either side of the guide sleeve. By arcuately forming the body interior and the guide sleeve, not only are the flow paths smoothly arcuate, but the circuitous nature thereof muffles echoing sounds created within the hollow body from passing outwardly of the body through the flow opening.

  • Patent number: 4075963
Abstract: The skeleton discharge mechanism receives the leading edge portion of scrap skeleton sheets one at a time from a press at an entrance portion of a support surface exactly positioned by the press relative to a pick-up station and transversely spaced pairs of engagement members move partially upwardly through the support surface on a timed basis to engage the sheet leading edge through press formed part openings. The engagement members are secured to chains constantly moving over sets of sprockets along closed paths and after engaging the sheet leading edge move longitudinally along the support surface to a surface exit portion pulling or dragging the sheet through the mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4036335
Abstract: A shock absorber, in an exemplary embodiment, especially suited for motorcycles and the like characterized as being fabricated of a minimum number of components assembled in a manner which permits rebuilding of worn components and wherein selected variable dampening is obtained through the provision of external adjustment device for varying the degree of dampening. The adjustability features allow for variable jounce and rebound factors to accommodate both normal and severe driving conditions and to permit compensation thereof, all without dismantling or demounting of the shock absorber from the vehicle with which it is associated. Adjustment in one instance comprises metering the hydraulic fluid and in the other instance varying the disposition of the main compression spring. Structure on the body of the shock absorber is provided to dissipate heat thereby increasing the quality of performance of the shock absorber during jounce and rebound conditions.

  • Patent number: 4030704
Abstract: A lifting and support system for heavy reels of wire or cable, wherein the apparatus utilized for obtaining positioning of the reel for easy unwinding or uncoiling of wire or cable that is wound on said reel, is rugged in construction, simple to use, and of low manufacturing cost. The system involves the placement, of an axle, shaft or horizontal support, which may be one continuous length or two shorter lengths, positioned through or on the lateral sides of the reel to provide means whereby, through a simplified hoist mechanism, one side of the reel may be lifted off the ground or floor surface at a time. Once one side of the reel is in elevated position, the hoist mechanism permits pivotal or arcuate movement of the reel so as to position the reel for subsequent wire or cable pulling.

  • Patent number: 4028748
Abstract: A valve seat of an integrated valve seat and closure member assembly is secured by waterproof sealant over the upper end of a flush valve seat portion in a flush tank, the waterproof sealant preferably constituting the sole support for the integrated assembly in the flush tank. The closure member is hingedly connected to the valve seat through a rigid frame which is partially removably telescoped by a resilient material closure portion thereby mounting the closure portion of the closure member hingedly movable downwardly toward and upwardly away from a sealing position with the valve seat. An outwardly depending C-shaped leg on the closure portion of the closure member which inwardly telescopes the closure member frame provides a lower, relatively flat, sealing surface for sealing downwardly against the valve seat in the closure member sealing position.

  • Patent number: 4013240
Abstract: A rotatable first roll end holder has diametrically opposed pins radially surrounded and projecting axially from radial surfaces except at pin inner radial extremities where a recess extends radially between the pins and opens axially toward the roll to be supported. The recess preferably also opens radially at opposite sides of the first holder. A second roll end holder may consist of merely a central projection so that a roll of toweling may be supported between said holders by simultaneous axially engagement of the pins and central projection. When sufficient toweling is dispensed from the roll to the pin inner radial extremities, the roll is released radially by the pins and pivots about the second holder projection through the first holder recess for ultimate complete disengagement from the holder.
