  • Patent number: 4922678
Abstract: A structural assembly for producing interconnecting structures which includes a first element which, on each of two transversely extending sides lying opposite each other, is provided with a dovetail joint member and, on each of two longitudinally extending sides lying opposite each other, is provided with three fins which, when viewed from the tip or free end, have a convex portion provided on each side with a corresponding, connection recess so that the space between two adjacent fins is identical in form to the fin in order to permit a toothing to be formed. The structural assembly also includes a second element which is provided with a dovetail joint member on one longitudinally extending side and with three fins on the opposite side, as well as a connecting member which has, on each of two sides lying opposite each other, a dovetail joint member which corresponds to the dovetail joint members of the first element.

  • Patent number: 4904923
Abstract: Disclosed is a reversible inductive energy transfer device for use where efficient transfer of energy between inductors is required. The apparatus is a current amplifying device which utilizes an energy storage inductor which comprises a plurality of series connected induction elements, the inductor being connected in series with a current source and a load inductor. The series connected induction elements are progressively disconnected from the load inductor in a make-before-break manner. The switching may be accomplished by a mechanical switch or by means of superconducting switches, semiconductor switches or PCT switches. The energy storage inductor comprises a single turn or current loop having a plurality of high conductivity, at least partially mutually coupled current paths. The current is continuously or discretely diverted into progressively smaller current paths in order to amplify the current and transfer energy into the load inductor.

  • Patent number: 4889024
Abstract: The device comprises a sectional carrier of closed cross section with a circular bed, a base and channels of distribution and return of oil. A guiding element comprising at least one guiding tube enclosing a bar stock to be machined and a push-piston is removably secured on the bed. The distribution channel communicates through radial openings with the guiding element for delivering to the latter oil under pressure which creates a hydrodynamic bearing supporting the bar stock when the latter is set into rotation by the head stock of the lathe. The sectional carrier has a great rigidity and stability which permits very high speeds of rotation of the bar stock to be machined. The return of oil by closed channels of the sectional carrier is protected against external contamination by impurities or dust.

  • Patent number: 4884378
Abstract: A structural assembly is used for producing walls. The assembly includes a plurality of structural elements, each element having at least one surface defining at least a portion of a dovetail joint. A first one of the elements is parallelepiped in shape and includes a first longitudinal side, the longitudinal side defining a half dovetail groove at each of its ends. The first element also includes a centrally disposed full dovetail groove and a full dovetail tongue separating the full groove from each half-groove. A second element of the assembly corresponds to one half of the first element. A securing element is also provided which includes at least one side defining a dovetail tongue member corresponding to the full groove in the first element. The securing element also includes an aperture extending therethrough. The structural assembly can be manufactured very economically on conventional machines and permits garden walls and the like to be easily produced and also to be secured firmly in position.

  • Patent number: 4859828
Abstract: To cut out workpieces from a sheet iron plate, the sheet iron plate is fed at first to a stamping and/or nibbling station in which stamping and nibbling operations ar executed. The sheet iron plate premachined in this way is then fed by means of transportation and buffer devices to a laser beam cutting machine in which longer, more complicated contours are cut out and the workpieces are cut out free from the sheet iron plate. During all cutting processes by means of the laser beam, the sheet iron plate remains stationary so that no problems arise with the handling of the cut free workpieces and the residual grid. Both existing machines can machine independently from each other for special works or can be utilized together for the successive machining of the same sheet iron plate, whereby buffers serve to store the sheet iron plates when e.g. the cycle time of the stamping and nibbling machine is higher than the cycle time of the laser beam cutting machine.

  • Patent number: 4859049
Abstract: The contact lens comprises a central optical zone and a peripheral zone for fastening the lens. For centering said lens the peripheral zone comprises two stabilizing bosses which are disposed on the horizontal stabilization axis of the lens. For large palpebral openings it may be preferable to use two pairs of bosses, whereby each pair comprises two bosses, disposed symmetrically to said axis of stabilization. For multifocal corrections it is possible to use a third boss, disposed on the vertical axis of the lens. These stabilizers allow a perfect centering of the lens, hindering its rotation and the use of very thin lenses.

  • Patent number: 4852691
Abstract: The scaffolding board (21) is moulded from a compound, light-hardened, duroplastic material and, in one embodiment, it comprises a box-shaped upper portion (22) provided with grooving (24), a box-shaped intermediate portion (20) provided with longitudinal ribs (30), and a lower, also box-shaped edge trim (28), all three portions being glued together. To produce the individual portions of the scaffolding board, a web of plastics material is clamped onto an air-permeable lower mould portion and filled with compressed-air, and the arched material is simultaneously heated and expanded. Subsequently, the lower mould portion is filled with vacuum, and the heated material is sucked-in and deep-drawn in order to adapt to the shape of the mould interior. Subsequently, the moulded part is exposed to a source of ultra-violet light and hence hardened. Finally, compressed-air is introduced in order to lift-out the hardened part.

  • Patent number: 4838671
Abstract: Behind of the front objective, in the region of both parallel axes of the beams of rays of the microscope is disposed a slewable optical prismatic body with two plane parallel front faces and two opposite inclined, parallel refractive pairs of faces. In a basis position of this prismatic body, the path of the axes of the beams of rays remains uninfluenced by the plane parallel front faces of the optical prismatic body. In a position of the optical body pivoted by 90.degree., the beams of rays pass through the inclined refractive faces and they experience a transverse displacement. In accordance with the position of the prismatic body one may obtain therefore a greater or smaller stereoscopic angle .alpha.. This leads to significantly improved viewing possibilities, more particularly for eye examination.

  • Patent number: 4825165
Abstract: A method and apparatus for locating and evaluating surface and subsurface anomalies by detecting, monitoring or measuring transient or local variations respectively which occur in an alternating component of a vertical current having a frequency characteristic which emanates from the earth'surface in the region being monitored or measured. For locating fixed anomalies, local variations which occur in the amplitude, frequency and frequency modulation of the alternating component of the vertical current are measured. For detecting the passage of moving or transient anomalies, a stationary detector is positioned to detect any change in the vertical alternating current leakage in the vicinity of the detector which is caused by a moving or transient anomaly such as a submerged submarine, seismic activity, or sustained severe wheather. For accuracy enhancement and redundancy, simultaneous measurements of the signal strength in multiple frequency bands may be used.

  • Patent number: 4823860
Abstract: A flow of coolant is injected or blown into spaces bounded by a cast strip the point of minimal separation between the rolls, and the rolls themselves. The coolant is injected or blown by means of nozzles disposed on both sides of the strip. In the case of an asymmetric emergence of the strip due to increased adhesion to one of the rolls, the resulting asymmetric conditions cause the strip to continually be redirected into a symmetric position. This stabilizing effect renders it possible to achieve a much greater length of contact between the cast metal and the rolls and consequently to realize the essential increase of the production rate of the casting line.
