  • Patent number: 4796615
Abstract: A quick disconnect connector for use with a system for measuring depth of anaesthesia of a patient. For this purpose, a probe is attached to a patient to detect esophageal contractions. The probe is connected to a patient station by means of flexible tri-lumen tubing. The patient station provides a pressure transducer, a source of pressurized air, and a thermistor connection, and in turn is operatively connected to a microprocessor which controls the entire operation. One conduit of the tubing enables communication between a liquid filled balloon within the probe and the transducer at the patient station. Another conduit enables an air balloon within the probe to be connected to the source of pressurized air. Still another conduit receives the electrical lead which extends to the thermistor.

  • Patent number: 4721204
Abstract: A package for containing, dispensing and employing a plurality of conventional prep swab ampules comprising liquid-containing breakable glass capsules within protective plastic sheaths or vials capped with swab tips. The package comprises a multi-ampule closed compartment for holding and dispensing a plurality of ampules as required, and a flexible, open-ended sleeve associated therewith. The sleeve is designed to receive and frictionally-engage each dispensed ampule, to permit the breaking of the inner vial while further protecting the fingers and, if desired, to permit the use of the broken ampule for its intended purpose while it remains frictionally-engaged within the sleeve on the package.

  • Patent number: 4704100
Abstract: An elongate apparatus for forming a plurality of plastic bags or pouches from a continuous length of thermoplastic film, in which the moving film is folded to form a double thickness which is open inwardly from one edge, and is folded inwardly from said one edge to form a flap ply which is treated at a plurality of aligned workstations to form physical bag features, such as to form spaced hanger-receiving slits, insert spaced hangers, form a longitudinal hanger-confining heat seam, fold out the flap ply, apply spaced adhesive closures, form V-cuts in the flap ply and fold back the flap ply to overlie the double ply prior to forming heat-seal transverse cuts which segregate the web into a plurality of plastic bags or pouches.

  • Patent number: 4585291
Abstract: A dual-in-line connector assembly of the closed-entry, closed-bottom type having an integral structure comprised of a base and a body of closely conforming configuration. The integral assembly defines a number of socket areas arranged in two parallel rows which communicate with a flux rinsing drainage system comprising a plurality of drainage paths of two different configurations which lead to orifices in the assembly exterior located away from the contacts. Drainage paths of the first type include a drainage chute in the socket area floor which lead directly to the exterior via an opening in the bottom of the drainage chute. The second type of drainage path includes a similar drainage chute leading to a large drainage opening that communicates with an extended oval-shaped centered recess which contributes a dual function of effecting a snap-on locking assembly arrangement.

  • Patent number: 4526811
Abstract: An electrically conductive adhesive composition effective for repairing discontinuities in the electrically conducting metal lines of rear window defoggers is disclosed. The composition comprises (a) an acrylic ester polymer resin (b) a metallic pigment and (c) an organic pigment. The composition is applied as a solid solution to the interrupted section of the metal line to bridge the gap in the line and the solvent is evaporated leaving an electrically conductive bridging layer which restores electrical flow to the line. The T.sub.g of the acrylic ester polymer resin should be such that the composition does not run, sag or otherwise lose its structural integrity when the metal line is heated to an operating temperature.

  • Patent number: 4519749
Abstract: A device for the lifting of liquid solely by the use of solar energy is constructed of two vertically disposed pipes, one pipe extending below the surface of the liquid and the second pipe extending above the surface of the liquid. A third pipe, in the form of a transverse section, joins the top of the first pipe and the bottom of the second pipe, the transverse section being inclined to provide entrapment of liquid therein upon submergency of the first pipe. A liquid inlet is provided at the bottom of the first pipe and an air vent is provided at the top of the first pipe at the junction thereof with the transverse section. A discharge port for liquid is provided at the top of the second pipe. An air pressure differential is established between the vent and the discharge port for forcing liquid from the transverse section to the port.

  • Patent number: 4346339
Abstract: A closed loop phase control circuit. The circuit senses the temperature of a load circuit. It also senses the line voltage on each line of a multi-phase system. The sensed line voltage is full-wave rectified. Comparators for each phase compare an input signal indicative of the temperature of the load circuit with the full-wave rectified line voltage in the corresponding phase and develops an output signal when the full-wave rectified line voltage exceeds the input signal indicative of the temperature of the load circuit. Ultimately, triacs, which are in series with the load for each phase, respond to the existence of an output signal from the corresponding comparators and to a pulse from a timer and conduct in response thereto. When a triac conducts, line current is delivered to its corresponding load resistance. In this way, the time for delivery of line current (and line voltage) to the load resistance varies in accordance with the temperature of the load.
