  • Patent number: 4384418
Abstract: A shelf display is constructed for vertical elastic mounting of a product information member between upper and lower shelves. The product information member extends outwardly from the edges of the shelves so as to be viewable to a prospective purchaser moving down an aisle parallel to the shelves. The air movement caused by the normal walking of the prospective purchaser causes the sign to vibrate or quiver, and thereby further attracts the prospective purchaser's attention.

  • Patent number: 4381697
Abstract: An apparatus to make cookies which consists of a drum shaped device known as a die roll for shaping the cookies. The drum shaped die roll receives dough from a feed hopper and deposits the shaped dough on the surface of a transfer conveyor at a first location. The drum is provided with knurls on its outside surface which ensure a positive drive to the transfer conveyor. The transfer conveyor then moves the shaped dough to a second location which is adjacent to an oven conveyor. The oven conveyor receives the shaped dough at the second location and carries the shaped dough into an oven for baking into cookies or cookie bits.

  • Patent number: 4381538
Abstract: A lamp swivel composed of two main coaxial members, which are at least partially rotatable relative to each other. An inner pin extends from one member to a circular inner groove in the other member, the groove being coaxial with the members. However, the other member, usually composed of a metal such as brass, copper or aluminum which may be anodized, is coined so as to prevent egress of the pin from the groove. Thus the two members are semi-permanently attached to each other and can rotate, by less than 360 degrees, relative to each other. The invention is especially applicable to provide an articulated lamp mounting for a swing arm lamp or the like, the lamp swivel being a swivel connector or coupling means which provides an articulated mounting attachment for the lamp.

  • Patent number: 4377352
Abstract: A stanchion is constructed and designed so as to be emplaced near a body of water, with its upper pivotally mounted portion in a lowered position, and with the rising of the water, the pivotal section self-actuates and rises with the water level to form a water containment barrier which will redirect the waterflow and protect property disposed on the other side of the barrier. With the receding of the water level, the upper section of the stanchion is self-lowered, thus providing an aesthetically acceptable appearance. A plurality of such stanchions with interconnected flexible sheeting provides a continuous barrier which can contour a land mass adjacent to a body of water.

  • Patent number: 4372367
Abstract: A roller blind includes a reversable electric motor disposed in and arranged to drive a roller winder via a reduction gear to roll-up and unroll the blind. The motor is switched off at an open and closed position of the blind by limit switches actuable by a control device drivable with the winding roller. The control device includes at least one actuating mechanism provided with first and last rotatable members. The first rotatable member can be brought into geared connection with the winding roller and the last rotatable member is associated with at least one of the limit switches and is provided with an actuator member to actuate the limit switches. The maximum rolling or unrolling-up length of the roller blind is arranged to correspond to an angular rotation of the last roller of less than 360.degree..

  • Patent number: 4370969
Abstract: A propane gas feed device and system are provided wherein controlled, measured quantities of propane gas are controllably pre-mixed with air and this pre-mixture of air-propane is fed as a carburetor mixture for combustion in the engine. An air cut-off screen is controllably operated to adjust the air-fuel ratio relative to a changeover in the propane and gasoline demands. The propane feed system may be retro-fitted to an automobile employing conventional propane feed and provides for more efficient use of the propane with reduced unburned fraction in the engine exhaust. The propane air-feed device is also useful as wherein propane is the sole fuel.

  • Patent number: 4363385
Abstract: An end connection for a replacement transmission brake band enables the band to be inserted longitudinally into the space between transmission drum and housing. The end connection comprises a removable bracket which is made part of the modified replacement transmission brake band. The bracket is placed on the modified transmission brake band after insertion of the modified transmission brake band into the space between transmission housing and brake drum. The bracket replaces the former permanently mounted end connection of the modified transmission brake band. The invention includes a method for converting a conventional end connection to the replaceable end construction of the present invention.

  • Patent number: 4363619
Abstract: A method and apparatus for blow molding a wide mouth container wherein substantially the entire container is multiaxially oriented in its formation. The method and apparatus produce this container in effectively a one station operation without the need for high pressure injection molding platens. The apparatus is useful in making non-oriented articles as well. One such multiaxially oriented article that may be blow molded is a container having the configuration of an oil can.

  • Patent number: 4352887
Abstract: A method, solid-state culture support and culture solution are disclosed which enables successful in vitro culturing of differentiated cells, with significant retention of their differentiated character. Through the use of extra-cellular matrix fibers, specifically derived from connective tissue, as culture substrates, the method also discloses the isolation of the connective tissue fibers and their preparation as a culture substrate. This method provides significantly higher survival and attachment rates, and often significantly improved growth properties for in vitro cultures of differentiated cells, especially epithelial, over the current methods for culturing these cells. This method also significantly enables certain differentiated cells to retain much of their normal enzymatic activities.Furthermore, this method enables certain differentiated cells to retain to a high degree, their ability to secrete substances, such as hormones.

  • Patent number: 4351629
Abstract: An end capping machine is disclosed wherein a plastic end cap is formed and bonded to a cardboard sleeve so as to form an integral, wide-mouth container. Each cap is formed and thermoplastically bonded in essentially one-station of a multi-station operation. The machine of the present invention is particularly useful in forming oil cans, and eliminates the need for the conventional metal base and sides.

  • Patent number: 4349574
Abstract: An apparatus to make cookies which consists of a drum shaped device for shaping the cookies. The drum shaped device termed a die roll receives dough from a feed roll which in turn removes dough from a feed hopper. The die roll then deposits the shaped dough on the surface of a transfer conveyor at a first location. The transfer conveyor moves the dough bits to a second location adjacent to an oven conveyor. As the dough bits leave the transfer conveyor at the second location they are made to topple onto their side when they are received by the oven conveyor. While they lay on their side the formerly flat base becomes slightly rounded. After they are baked in the oven all the baked surfaces are now rounded.

  • Patent number: 4347557
Abstract: A swivel joint assembly comprises a first arm member having a first end joint on one end. The end joint has an arcuate groove thereon. A second arm member has a second end joint on one end. The second joint has stop structure thereon for limiting rotational movement of said swivel joint to approximately 360.degree.. A swivel structure provides rotational movement between the first and second end joints. The swivel structure includes a fastener for securing the first and second end joints to each other. The stop element protrudes into the arcuate groove and a stop shoulder on the arcuate groove co-acts with the stop element to limit rotational movement of the swivel joint.
