    Abstract: An information system includes a primary storage system (PSS), a host, an external storage system (ESS), and a management host. The PSS uses virtual devices to treat logical devices in the ESS as if they were logical devices in the PSS. The ESS logical devices are configured using multiple disks for providing redundancy, such as in a RAID configuration, to enable migration of data following hardware failure in the ESS. When a disk forming part of an ESS logical device fails, the management host detects the failure and judges whether the ESS logical device is used by the PSS to form a virtual device. If the ESS logical device is used to form a virtual device, then the management host issues a migration request. In response to the migration request, the PSS migrates data from the ESS logical device to a logical device in the PSS to avoid data loss.

Where the rate of decrease of pressure is greater than a given value, the motor is started without waiting for the pressure inside the tank to decrease to a motor restart pressure value, the pressure inside the tank portion rises to a given motor stop pressure value and the motor is then controlled to come to a stop. Where the rate of decrease of pressure is less than the given value, the motor is started when the pressure inside the tank has decreased to the motor restart pressure value. After the start of the motor, the motor is controlled such that it comes to a stop when the pressure inside the tank portion increases to a given value lower than the motor stop pressure value.

    Abstract: There is a cache memory, which has a cache area allocated to each communication port of an external storage subsystem. When data conforming to an I/O command received from a host is in an external LDEV, and when there is no cache hit in this cache area, an I/O command is issued to this external storage subsystem, and then the result of I/O processing is sent to the host. A storage control system measures response time by issuing a dummy I/O command to each communication port. The larger cache capacity is allocated to a communication port with the larger measured value. As a result of this, there is an increased probability of a cache hit in a cache area corresponding to a communication port with a higher response time measured value.

A boosting compressor is driven by the motive power obtained from the rotary shaft of the gas turbine, whereby natural gas or accompanying gas is boosted in pressure and supplied as fuel to the combustor. The gas turbine generates electric power by using natural gas produced in the outrage gas field or accompanying gas produced in the oil field, and the generated electric power is supplied to a consuming site.

Offset cancellation values are generated by detecting in advance D.C. offsets of amplifiers for amplifying reception signals according to a set gain, and stored into a memory, and read out of the memory to cancel the D.C. offsets of the amplifiers at the time of starting reception and altering the gain.
