  • Patent number: 6267736
Abstract: Massage apparatus includes a base structure to be supported by the hand of a user. The base structure includes a first section to be positioned proximate a central portion of the hand and a second section to be positioned proximate a distal portion of the hand. The second section of the base structure is hingedly connected to the first section for articulated movement therebetween to correspond to movement of the distal portion of the hand. The base structure is a housing having first and second surfaces; a resilient pad is provided on at least one surface. Flexible members and a lip extend from the base structure to couple the user's hand with the massage apparatus. Drive motors are mounted on the second section to oscillate the base structure in at least two different directions. A controller independently controls the frequency in which the drive motors oscillate the base structure in each direction.

  • Patent number: 6267103
Abstract: A fuel delivery unit for a motor vehicle is disclosed. The fuel delivery unit has a fuel pump (5) which is clamped in between a retaining part (1) and an elastically configured pump-retaining means (6) which is clipped on the retaining part (1). The retaining part (1) is open toward one side, so that the fuel pump (5) can be fitted once the delivery unit has been preassembled. It is thus possible to replace the fuel pump (5) in the case of a defect.

  • Patent number: 6263916
Abstract: In a tank system, in particular a fuel tank system, which comprises a tank (1) with at least one filling level transmitter (7, 8) and also a display (11) for indicating the filling level of the tank (1), a measurable and indicatable reserve volume (3V) which is arranged in the tank and is always refuelable as a priority via an inflow pipe (2) and the content of which is available as a fuel reserve when a minimum filling level is reached in the main tank (1), a switching means (7, 12) for activating, by means of a control unit (10), an indicator (17, 18) signaling operation on fuel reserve (=extraction of fuel from the reserve), and a splash pot (3), together with fuel pump (5), arranged in the main tank (1), according to the invention the measurable and indicatable reserve volume (3V) is the content of the splash pot (3) itself.

  • Patent number: 6263685
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for reliably determining the temperature of the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle, in particular for controlling an air-conditioning system in the motor vehicle in which a sensor which detects the temperature of the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle is ventilated by a fan motor. In a method for determining the temperature of the passenger compartment, in which the noise nuisance from the fan motor is eliminated, another motor vehicle device which generates a noise is operated simultaneously with the fan motor.

  • Patent number: 6260542
Abstract: In a fuel supply system with a main tank (1), with a splash pot (4), with a pump (7) fed from the splash pot and with connecting lines (5, 18) for the pump, according to the invention the latter is arranged in the main tank (1) outside the splash pot (4) and is connected to the latter via at least one suction line (5) integrally formed fixedly onto an inner wall (3) of the main tank. It is particularly advantageous if that portion of the forward-run line (18) which is to be connected to the pump is also integrally formed fixedly onto the inner wall, because the pump can then be fluidically connected very simply and quickly by being plugged on. As a further option, the electric connection (24-27) of the pump can also be made in one operation with the fluidic contacting.

  • Patent number: 6258455
Abstract: An antimicrobial material having at least one yarn having fine fiber of 1.0 denier or less and at least one yarn having antimicrobial fiber that are engaged with each other, wherein the antimicrobial fibers impart an antimicrobial property to the entire material. In a preferred embodiment, the yarns of fine fiber and yarns of antimicrobial fiber are woven or knitted together. It is further preferred that the fine fiber be less than 0.3 denier, have a diameter of approximately 3 microns, and have a generally triangular cross-section with sharp edges, therefore allowing the fine fiber to substantially remove bacteria, fungi and other microbes from a surface. It is also preferred that the antimicrobial fibers comprise an acetate fiber spun together with polyester to give the antimicrobial fiber added strength.

  • Patent number: 6257075
Abstract: In a sensor (1), firstly two sections (3, 12) of a steering shaft (4) are connected by means of a torsion rod (10) which bears a measuring cell (9). For the purpose of protection against overloading, the sensor (1) has a rotary angle limiter (7) which is formed by parting lines (5, 6) which run in the manner of a step longitudinally and transversely, in the housing (2), which is initially connected to the sections (3, 12) and the torsion rod (10). By this means, the torsion rod (10) can be rotated to a limited extent with respect to the housing (2) of the sensor (1), the rotary angle difference being determined by the width of the longitudinally extending parting line (5). As a result, the rotary angle limiter (7) is largely independent of dimensional deviations during installation and, even at low rotary angle differences, permits the exact determination of the rotary forces applied.
