Abstract: A composite article includes a composite member, a flexible member and at least one shape memory material member. The composite member has longitudinally extending fibers in a matrix material. The at least one shape memory material member extends substantially parallel to the composite member and the flexible member is positioned between the composite member and the at least one shape memory material member to bond the at least one shape memory material member to the composite member. The composite article is particularly suitable for use as a tab for an exhaust nozzle of a turbofan gas turbine engine.
Abstract: A turbine power plant employs a radial staging of a liquid injection system to provide a uniform fluid distribution, for use in wet compression. The liquid injection system includes a hub to be coupled to an air intake case of a turbine power plant. An annular ring assembly is spaced radially outwardly from the hub. Spray bars are spoked about the hub and the annular ring. The spray bars each include a body portion having an inner end coupled to the hub and an outer end coupled to the ring assembly. The spray bars each have at least two nozzle assemblies along the body portion. The spray bars each define at least two liquid supply manifolds each having an inlet at the annular ring assembly and an outlet at an associated nozzle assembly. The liquid supply manifolds each supply liquid to one or more associated nozzle assemblies.

Abstract: An annulus filler is provided for mounting to a rotor disc of a gas turbine engine and for bridging the gap between two adjacent blades attached to the rotor disc. The annulus filler defines an airflow surface for air being drawn through the engine. The annulus filler has one or more primary connectors for connecting the annulus filler to the rotor disc, and for resisting, in use, centrifugal forces on the annulus filler. Each primary connector allows rotation of the annulus filler around the center line of the engine relative to the rotor disc at that primary connector. The annulus filler also has a secondary connector for connecting the annulus filler to the rotor disc and for resisting, in use, motion of the annulus filler relative to the rotor disc in a first axial direction. The secondary connector allows rotation of the annulus filler around the center line of the engine relative to the rotor disc at the secondary connector.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing pancreatin with reduced viral and microbial contamination, comprising the steps of (a) providing the pancreatin in solid form with a residual moisture of 0.5 weight % or less, down to almost zero, based on the pancreatin provided; (b) subjecting the pancreatin provided in step (a) to a heat treatment at a temperature of 84° C., preferably 80° C. and below; wherein, the biological activity of the pancreatin obtained in step (b) corresponds to at least 50% of the biological activity of the pancreatin provided in step (a); and the viral infectiousness of the pancreatin obtained in step (b) has been reduced by a factor of more than 1 log10 in comparison with the viral infectiousness of the pancreatin provided in step (a), as well as a pancreatin produced according to this method and its use for producing a medicine or a nutritional supplement.

A reception signal demodulated by a demodulator 33 is input to a fractionally-spaced equalizer 38 that operates at the base-point symbol rate and is forcibly equalized at the transmission symbol rate by using a reference signal. A level of a signal output from the fractionally-spaced equalizer 38 at the transmission symbol rate is determined by a level determining unit 39 and becomes a reception symbol data by a sawtooth-function output unit 40.

Abstract: In order to evaluate the welding current for the resistance seam welding of an overlap seam of container bodies, a welding with changing welding current intensity is carried out for a container body of the production series, resulting in a changing welding of the seam, ranging from the welding with a too high temperature to the welding with a too low temperature. The electric energy for this welding is determined several times during this welding and/or the temperature of the weld seam is determined several times and the welding current intensity is determined at which the welding of the individual container body is too cold and the welding current intensity at which the welding is too hot. This determination is based on the determined electric energy values and/or on the determined temperature values and based on this determination a preferred range for the welding current intensity within these limits of too hot and too cold is determined.
Abstract: An electronic access control and recording system includes a lock, a card reader, a key card configured to communicate with the lock and with the card reader, a database, and an administrator microprocessor configured to provide a user interface and to communicate with the database and with the card reader. At least one of the lock and the card contain a microprocessor and a non-volatile memory storing encrypted information. In use, the key card provides access to the lock and transfers the encrypted information between the lock and the database via the card reader and the administrator microprocessor. The administrator microprocessor provides a user interface for reviewing and administering the database. The user interface also provides account and password qualification for users.

Abstract: A magnetic induction pump for pumping molten metal. The pump includes a motor and a shaft operatively connected to the motor. The pump further includes at least one bipolar permanent magnet operatively connected to the shaft and a conduit for the passage of molten metal. The motor rotates the shaft and magnet about the conduit inducing eddy currents in the molten metal in the conduit which react with the moving magnetic field to produce force to pump the metal through the conduit with the metal coming into contact with only an interior surface of the conduit.
