Abstract: The present invention relates to novel antibody heteroconjugates and bispecific antibodies and methods and compositions and their use in the enhancement or inhibition of activation and function of T or B lymphocytes. The heteroconjugates are comprised of at least two antibody molecules cross-linked to each other, each molecule being reactive with a different lymphocyte antigen on the same cell. The invention also provides bispecific antibodies comprising a first binding region reactive with an antigen on a lymphocyte and a second binding region reactive with a different antigen on the lymphocyte. The heteroconjugates, bispecific antibodies, methods and compositions of this invention are therefore useful in the regulation of lymphocyte function, resulting in the improvement of cellular immune responses in various disease states.

Abstract: A plate joiner including a fence support, a drive, and a fence system. The fence support includes a cutter and a contact surface, which defines a cutter slot. The cutter is arranged and configured to protrude from fence support through cutter slot to make a plunge cut into a surface of a workpiece when the contact surface is pressed against the surface and the cutter is plunged into the workpiece by pushing on a rearward handle portion of the tool. The drive is arranged and configured to rotatably drive the cutter through a motor.A preferred plate joiner is configured for substantially continuous adjustment of fence height while restraining lateral and tortional movement of the fence and providing an accurate measure of the height of the fence from any point in the thickness of the blade.
Abstract: A deflection yoke including a saddle shaped horizontal deflection coil, a saddle shaped vertical deflection coil located outside the saddle shaped horizontal deflection coil, and a core located outside the saddle shaped vertical deflection coil, wherein the screen side flange portion (66) of the saddle shaped horizontal deflection coil has a contour (63) of a smoothly curved line and the ratio (r=c/d) of the maximum width (c) to the maximum height (d) for the flange portion (66) is in the range of from 2.2 to 3.5. The present deflection yoke provides improved image quality.
Abstract: Novel hybridoma cell lines producing monoclonal antibodies reactive with purified mucin antigens from normal and tumor sources are generated using mucins, including purified mucins from tumor sources. Epitopes on mucin antigens from normal and tumor sources are demonstrated to be distinct, using these new antibodies. The antibodies may be useful alone or in combination, in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer including malignancies of the breast and lung.

Abstract: A "fruit cup" (1) which is shaped to receive articles, for example single pieces of fruit of produce such as apples. The articles rest in a space on a support between the back plate (7) of a "U" shaped bracket and a rotatable bow-tie roller (2) positioned between the arms (4, 5) of the bracket. The support sits on a mounting to which it is coupled while being allowed limited relative movement therebetween. The relative movement between the support and the mounting allows the support to be tilted, lifting the roller (2), enabling it to be rotated to ensure that the "fruit cup" (1) contains only one article. The support is also able to be tipped to either side, to discharge the article contained therein, and to later be repositioned atop the mounting. In use, the base (13, 14) of the mounting is attached to an endless chain conveyor so that a number of "fruit cups" form an endless circuit in an article grading/packaging/sorting system which may have a number of adjacent circuits.

Abstract: This invention provides a device for analyzing a sample which is capable of performing rapid and precise analysis of a small amount of sample, and whose gradient in a measuring apparatus is not limited. This device comprises approximately a rectangular plate shaped body comprising a base member made of resin and a transparent covering. A first depressed cylindrical concave portion is formed in the upper surface of the base member, and a groove is formed in communication with the first depressed cylindrical concave portion, the groove extending to the end of the protrusion portion 5c, and a second depressed cylindrical concave portion which is smaller than the first depressed cylindrical concave portion is formed in a certain position in the groove, the end of the groove opening to the outside at the end of the protrusion portion 5c. Then, the transparent covering is placed over the upper surface of the base member and then integrated together.
Abstract: A fastener for timber decking, fences, pallets and the like comprises a joist attachment plate (11), with one or more fastening apertures (12) therein, one or more spacing flanges (13) locatable between joists (20) and planks (30), a plank spacer (14) extending between adjacent planks (30) and axially aligned plank engaging teeth (17, 18) extending from opposed sides of the plank spacer (14) to engage respective side surfaces of adjacent planks (30).
Abstract: A vehicle wheel hub bearing unit comprises:a stationary, radially outer race having a portion projecting radially outwardly;a rotatable, radially inner race;an encoder fixed for rotation with the rotatable radially inner race in close proximity to the inboard side of a flange fast for rotation with the hub and projecting radially outwardly therefrom;a sensor mount element fixed to the radially outwardly projecting portion;a sensor body mounted in removable manner to the mount element and incorporating a sensor element facing in operation the encoder.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a front light extraction tape for coupling light out of a light guiding device. The tape has a flexible, light transmissive outer portion and a light coupling element secured to a lower surface of the outer portion without using adhesive. An input surface of the light coupling element is contactable with an output surface of the light guiding device for receiving light therefrom. A reflecting surface of the light coupling element is aligned so as to reflect light received into the light coupling element through the light transmissive outer portion. The light coupling element may be formed integrally with the outer portion so as to avoid a material interface between the light coupling element and the outer portion.

Abstract: The invention relates to a composition comprising a polymer, a short and a long fiber composite that can be used in the form of a linear extrudate or thermoplastic pellet to manufacture structural members. The linear extrudate or pellet can have a cross-section of any arbitrary shape, or can be a regular geometric. The polymer and short/long fiber composite containing structural members can be manufactured from the composite or pellet in an extrusion process or an injection molding process. The pellet can have a cross-section shape having a volume of at least about 12 mm.sup.3. Preferably the pellet is a right cylindrical pellet having a minimum radius of about 1.5 mm and a minimum length of 1 mm weighing at least 14 mg. The initial mixing step before extrusion of the composite material insures substantial mixing and melt contact between molten polymer and wood fiber. The extruded pellet comprises a consistent proportion of polymer, short and long fiber and water.

Abstract: An absorbent product comprising a liquid permeable surface sheet, a liquid nonpermeable back sheet and an absorbent layer located therebetween, wherein the absorbent layer comprises a water nonswellable synthetic fiber (a) and optionally cellulose fiber (b), and a water-absorbent resin (c), with the weight ratio of (a):(b) being (100 to 20):(0 to 80) and the percentage content of (c) based on the weight sum of (a), (b) and (c) is 25 to 75 weight %. The absorbent layer is treated with polyoxyalkylene-modified silicone surface active agent (d1) and/or a nonsilicone surface active agent having HLB of 8 to 14 (d2). Absorbent products of the present invention exhibit excellent shape retention in the moist state and good permeability and diffusibility for the absorbed liquid. Accordingly, they provide excellent surface dryness, reduced leakage and thus can be comfortably used for a long time and effectively applied to disposable diapers, sanitary napkins and incontinence pads.
