  • Patent number: 4226191
Abstract: A remotely controlled tri-level roller platform assembly including a base portion, an intermediate portion and a top support portion. The intermediate portion is reciprocally operable in a first linear plane, atop and independently of the base member, by means of a first reversible electric motor, with the top support portion disposed thereatop for movement therewith. The top support portion is reciprocally operable in a second linear plane, independent of the intermediate portion, at right angles to the first plane, by means of a second reversible electric motor. Remote control electric switches are provided for the first and second motors whereby the motors may be selectively operated for universal planar positioning of any desired point within a predetermined area of the top surface of the top support portion relative to the lens of a single camera in a visual aid system, including a TV monitor.

  • Patent number: 4224954
Abstract: A device for use in bleaching or coloring hair in discrete portions comprised of a thin planar base member with a hand grip portion at first end, a generally U-shaped top member including a transverse span portion atop the base member, adjacent the hand grip portion, and a pair of generally parallel arms or thin planar material extending from the span portion along the base member, adjacent the respective side edges thereof, to points adjacent a second end of the base member. A moisture impervious flexible sheet of a suitable material, such as aluminum foil, is disposed between the base and U-shaped top members. A lock of hair is disposed over at least a portion of the central area of the foil, and a hair coloring or bleaching fluid is applied thereto. A pair of oppositely outwardly extending wing portions of the foil is folded over the lock of hair, after which the device is slidably removed from the foil, which remains in wrapped engagement about the lock of hair.

  • Patent number: 4184737
Abstract: An interference microscope based on the principles of nonlinear optics comprises an ordinary microscope which has three additional internal optical elements, namely, two nonlinear frequency-doubling platelets and an infra-red filter, each suitably positioned. Light from an infra-red laser light source is passed through the platelets and filter, and the phase shift of the resulting image in the visible spectrum at the eyepiece is measured in order to calculate the optical thickness of a transparent object.

  • Patent number: 3950838
Abstract: A process for making improved grips for encircling the hand contact portion of a shaft, lever, or steering device for hand powered and hand guided equipment from a reversible thermoplastic rubber. A simple test characterizes the thermoplastic rubber compositions as "xylenophyllic" materials, useful for forming grips by coating processes and for uses requiring less environmental stability, and "xylenophobic" materials, useful for grips requiring high environmental stability. The improved grips find application whenever it is desirable that the hand grip be securely grasped and held, and especially for use wherever hand injury or discomfort may occur due to vibration or shock.
