Patent number: 6452360Abstract: A method for calculating a first and second gain for a controller circuit for a plant is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of providing a reference model circuit with desired circuit characteristics, providing a reference model adaptive circuit, setting the second gain to zero, supplying a spectrally rich input signal to the reference model and to the controller circuit, determining the first gain by continuously adjusting the first gain until an output of the reference model and an output of the controller circuit are substantially equal, setting the first gain to the previously determined value, determining the second gain by continuously adjusting the second gain until an output of the reference model and an output of the controller circuit are substantially equal and setting the second gain to the previously determined value.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 1999Date of Patent: September 17, 2002Assignee: Square D. Patent number: 6448920Abstract: A first system is provided having a plurality of analog input signals for a plurality of analog input devices. Each analog input signal has an analog input signal value. The first system converts each analog input signal value to an ultimate digital input value. The first system has an input converter for converting each analog input signal to a digital input signal having a digital input value. The digital input value directly corresponds to the analog input signal value. The first system also has a conveying means for conveying the analog input signal value as an ultimate digital input value without performing any additional conversion. A second system is also provided having a plurality of analog output signals for a plurality of analog output devices. Each analog output signal has an analog output signal value, and each analog output signal value is converted from an initial digital output signal value.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 2000Date of Patent: September 10, 2002Assignee: Schneider Automation, Inc.Inventors: Steven Webster, Richard H. Patent number: 6446102Abstract: A method and a device for high-speed scale conversion wherein a value N within a range of N1 and N2 is converted into a small value M within a range of M1 and M2. The method includes the step of obtaining an approximate value of M by loading the value (N−N1+2p−1) into a multi-bit shift register and right-shifting p bits. A binary search process is then used to determine the error value between the actual value of M and the approximate value of M. By avoiding actual multiplication processes, the conversion can be carried out using low-cost electronic hardware such as a microprocessor or a PROM to carry out the binary search process, a shift-register to obtain the approximate value of M, a multiplexer to receive an analog input data N and an A/D converter to convert the analog input data N into a digital data N.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 1999Date of Patent: September 3, 2002Assignee: Schneider Automation, Inc.Inventors: David L. Patent number: 6368530Abstract: An improved method for creating cooling ducts in cast resin coils uses uniform cross section thermoplastic tooling segments. These segments are wound into windings between predetermined layers or radial sections, oriented parallel to the coil axis. They extend through the height of the coil. After the coil is cast, impregnated, or saturated with resin, and the resin is cured, the segments are withdrawn. The removal of a segment results in a continuous cooling duct. The thermoplastic segments are either solid machined from sheet or extruded with thin outer walls. Extrusion allows for uniform cross section relatively long somewhat flexible segments, which will cause the radius of curvature of the segment to conform to the shape of the coil due to the tension from the conductor and reinforcing material during the winding process. This will have the result of reducing the number of different segment designs required to support production of a variety of different diameter coils.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 1999Date of Patent: April 9, 2002Assignee: Square D CompanyInventors: John D.
