  • Patent number: 7305486
Abstract: Reliable byte stream transfer protocols play an important role in modern networks. The present invention implements such a protocol using credits for flow control and negative acknowledgements for reliable delivery. The credit mechanism uses credit transfer in installments and is immune to the losses or corruptions of intermediate credit installments. Negative acknowledgements are used to solicit the retransmission of data stream component. The present invention provides full compatibility at the programming interface with reliable byte transfer protocols, such as TCP, and also allows full interoperability among hosts running the aforesaid standard protocol or the protocol of the present invention.

  • Patent number: 7286987
Abstract: A system and method related to a new approach to speech recognition that reacts to concepts conveyed through speech. In its fullest implementation, the system and method shifts the balance of power in speech recognition from straight sound recognition and statistical models to a more powerful and complete approach determining and addressing conveyed concepts. This is done by using a probabilistically unbiased multi-phoneme recognition process, followed by a phoneme stream analysis process that builds the list of candidate words derived from recognized phonemes, followed by a permutation analysis process that produces sequences of candidate words with high potential of being syntactically valid, and finally, by processing targeted syntactic sequences in a conceptual analysis process to generate the utterance's conceptual representation that can be used to produce an adequate response.

  • Patent number: 7282254
Abstract: A bi- or multi-layer coating is deposited upon a substrate using a low temperature process. The bi-layer is a lower layer of a SAM coating, which is overlaid with a hard coating. The hard coating can be made of materials such as: polymer, Si3N4, BN, TiN, SiO2, Al2O3, ZrO2, YSZ, and other ceramic materials, and the underlying, compliant, SAM coating can comprise substances containing long chain molecules that chemically bond to the substrate. This bi-layer provides both environmental and hermetical protection to electronic hardware and MEMS systems, without employing expensive packaging materials and processes. Multiple bi-layers may be combined to form multi-layer coatings. A protective polymer or other material may optionally be formed as an outside layer.
