  • Patent number: 6324190
Abstract: An arrangement is disclosed for geometrically shaping a radiation field, in particular the radiation field of a diode laser array which propagates in the z direction and has a radiation cross section which is larger, in a direction defined as the y direction, which is perpendicular to the first, and has a lower radiation quality in said direction. X, y and z form a Cartesian coordinate system. The radiation is grouped into radiation fractions in the x direction and the radiation fractions are reoriented as regards their radiation cross sections. The arrangement has at least two reflective elements (6) and is characterized in that each reflective element has a pair of reflection surfaces (7,8) at approximately or exactly 90° to each other. This opening angle (9) is oriented against the direction of propagation. The line (10) at which the reflection surfaces intersect is oriented at approximately below 45° to the x direction.

  • Patent number: 6322566
Abstract: Intraoral distractor for callus distraction in the human lower jaw with a proximal (posterior) and a distal (anterior) fixation part and a first displacement mechanism for a linear lengthening of the distance between the two fixation parts so as to lengthen the body of the mandible or the ramus of the mandible in the area of an osteotomy. The distractor is characterized in that the invention provides for a distraction element with a joint, the axis of articulation of which is oriented in such a way as to allow for a change in the angular position to each other of the body of the mandible and ramus of mandible in the area of the osteotomy. The one fixing part is assigned to the ramus of mandible and the other fixing part to the body of mandible. The distraction element is joined to the fixing parts in such a way that it is situated outside the tissue in the oral cavity and on the buccal side of the teeth in the vestibule.

  • Patent number: 6318651
Abstract: A mill comprises a housing (3) and a drum (15), provided with cutting members (17), which is rotatably located inside the housing. The cutting members and the drum are made from one piece and the cutting members are formed by local thickenings of the wall of the drum. The cutting members have a cutting edge from which one point (41) protrudes in the circumferential direction of the drum, such that during operation the cutting members contact the material to be milled with this point first. The cutting members are located on the intersection of an imaginary spiraled line (47) around the drum and a number of imaginary oblique lines (49), which run at an angle with the axial direction of the drum. The cutting members are formed by machining the outer surface of a thick-walled drum, such that on the outer surface of that drum a spiral-shaped rim remains, which is removed at a number of places. Cutting edges with clearance surfaces are machined at the remaining parts of the rim.

  • Patent number: 6312786
Abstract: The invention concerns a multiple-layer composite sheet and a method of manufacturing such a sheet. The composite sheet comprises a supporting sheet bonded to a “hetero sheet”. The hetero sheet consists of a heterogeneous blend of an elastic thermoplastic fundamental substance that cures semicrystalline or amorphous subsequent to processing and particles of added material distributed therein. The particles can be mixed and extruded along with the fundamental substance although they are heterogeneously bound therein. In the hetero sheet the particles of added material heterogeneously distributed therein are detached, by stretching for example, from the surrounding fundamental substance (2) and the material of the hetero sheet stands up at the many areas of detachment to create a fleecy surface. At least one hetero sheet (20) is enclosed in at least one supporting sheet (10 & 30).

  • Patent number: 6279984
Abstract: A deployable windshield sun visor made of tinted plastic, or tinted safety glass is retracted and stored in the roof of the vehicle. The shield is deployed upon the activation of a switch and will then move down upon the windshield to thereby lessen glare and otherwise operate to decrease the brightness of the sun's effects. The panel or visor may be either on the outside or inside surface of the windshield and is in close connection to it. Optionally the panel may be constructed as a pair of panels so that the driver and passenger may choose whether the panel should be deployed on their side or not.
