  • Patent number: 6067745
Abstract: An ice cooler for storing and refrigerating caught fish has a removable top lid provided with an insert having separated teeth to seal the lid and thereby the cooler. The teeth retentively engage the body of a hooked fish disposed tail-first therewith preparatory to the fish being unhooked by a fisherman for the fish's own downward movement through the engaging teeth and into the cooler by the fish's own force of gravity. The teeth have their own memory to spring-back to re-seal and close the lid upon cessation of physical contact with the fish.

  • Patent number: 6062158
Abstract: This invention is a simple and yet efficient device for mooring vessels that floats up and down with the tide on vertical piling which maintains both ends of a mooring line at approximately the same height from the water. This is accomplished by providing a stainless steel cage with upper and lower rings with interior diameters larger than the diameter of the piling. These rings are connected by a plurality of risers. A bail or other securing means is used to secure the end of a mooring line. A bend is provided in each of the risers near the bottom ring so that the risers project outwardly. A floating means having an interior diameter smaller than the diameter of a plane passing through the bends in the risers is slipped over the lower ring and wedges on the risers so that the mooring device can rise and fall with the tide.

  • Patent number: 6056800
Abstract: A method for composting organic waste materials utilizing aerobic and anaerobic decomposition processes simultaneously is disclosed. The method of the present invention is carried out by forming a compost pile of organic waste material which will decompose aerobically by microbes indigenous to the waste material. A cavity of predetermined size is formed within the compost heap and filled with alternating layers of organic waste material which will decompose anaerobically followed by a layer of waste material which will decompose aerobically until the cavity is filled. The parameters of the decomposition processes including temperature, water content, aeration, and moisture percolation are monitored to ensure that adequate conditions are met for both decomposition processes to proceed simultaneously. After a predetermined time interval has passed, the organic waste materials deposited within the central cavity of the compost heap are harvested to obtain a nutrient rich, soil additive.

  • Patent number: 6020013
Abstract: This invention is a method of preventing freezer burn on frozen foods over an extended period of time. This is accomplished by providing a triple seal to prevent the ingress of ambient air through the seals into the interior of the storage bag which causes freezer burn. This is accomplished by providing an outer liquid impervious interlocking reclosable seal and a second liquid impervious interlocking reclosable inner seal adjacent and parallel to the outer seal. When food is placed in the storage bag, the inner seal is closed, water is put in the mouth of the storage bag above the sealed inner seal and below the open outer seal. The outer seal is then closed forming a triple seal closure that completely eliminates any possibility of ambient air entering into the interior of the storage bag.

  • Patent number: 5979622
Abstract: A power take-off release mechanism for automatically disengaging a power take-off unit and accessory equipment powered thereby is disclosed. The power take-off release mechanism interconnects a clutch foot pedal mechanism of a vehicle having a manual transmission to a throw out arm on the power take-off unit. The power take-off unit includes a mechanical cable linkage which functions to engage the power take-off unit in a conventional manner. Thereafter, whenever the manual clutch foot pedal is depressed to put the vehicle in gear under normal driving conditions, the power take-of mechanism of the present invention is automatically actuated to disengage the power take-off unit thereby preventing the same from being operated at higher engine revolutions under normal driving conditions. In one embodiment, the power take-off release mechanism includes a mechanical cable linkage that interconnects the clutch foot pedal with the mechanical throw out arm on the power take off unit.

  • Patent number: 5949329
Abstract: A boat loading guidance device including an array of indicator lamps which signals the boat operator when a boat has been maneuvered into correct longitudinal alignment with a submerged boat trailer. In the preferred embodiment a pair of actuating arms are angularly disposed to form a V-shape and adapted to engage the bow of a boat at the forward end of the boat trailer. Upon contact with the bow of a boat, the actuating arms close an associated switch passing electrical current by a plurality of circuits to either a port or starboard indicator lamp informing the boat operator of the direction in which the boat must be maneuvered into correct alignment with the trailer. In one embodiment, the boat loading guidance device is adapted to receive power from the battery of a towing vehicle by way of an existing trailer wiring harness. In an alternative embodiment, the device is self-powered by a plurality of dry cell batteries for supplying electric power to the lamp circuits.

  • Patent number: 5943792
Abstract: An improved footwear traction device designed to provide enhanced traction for the wearer while walking on ice, snow, and other slippery surfaces without causing damage to finished floors and carpeting is disclosed. The footwear traction device includes an elastic member having releasable engaging member for attaching the device about the sole and instep of the wearer's shoe. The traction device includes a reversible, frictional component fabricated from a hygroscopic fibrous material which is instantaneously frozen when the water-laden frictional component is placed into direct contact with an icy surface thereby temporarily freezing the wearer's shoe to the icy surface to provide improved traction. The frictional component is constructed to include an interrupted, ribbed pattern on the ground engaging surface thereof which is disposed transversely to the direction of walking so as to provide a measure of mechanical resistance to slippage on surfaces which are not completely frozen.
