Abstract: An improved combination of a powered combine carrying a combine grain bin for housing harvested grain and a towed grain cart carrying a grain cart bin for housing harvested grain includes improved harvested grain transfer between the combine grain bin and the grain cart bin and improved off-loading of harvested grain from the combination. A generally horizontally disposed first grain movement assembly is pivotally connected within the combine grain bin and pivotally connected within the grain cart bin and disposed for reciprocally transporting grain between the combine grain bin and the grain cart bin. A generally vertically disposed second grain movement assembly is cooperatively operable with the first grain movement assembly for transferring grain from the grain cart bin to the first grain movement assembly and thence to the combine grain bin. An off-loading grain movement assembly is disposed for off-loading grain only from the combine grain bin.

  • Patent number: 6898009
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an improvement in a diffractive display suitable for presenting graphic and the like displays. Broadly, a novel embodiment is realized from a holographic diffraction pattern carried by a magnet or element and an electrically energizable coil magnetically coupled with said magnet that is energizable for movement of the magnet. Rotation of the holographic diffraction pattern generates a display using the diffracted light from the holographic diffraction grating. Another novel embodiment is realized from a faceted rotatable element (FRE) having an array of facets each bearing a diffraction grating and a source energizable for rotation of the FRE from a resting station to a viewing station. Rotation of the FRE generates a display using the diffracted light from the diffraction gratings.

  • Patent number: 6891343
Abstract: System, method and apparatus for commutating a multiphase motor utilizing a single sensor. Commutation is carried out by employing a sensible system which incorporates phase commutating transition attributes. A motor is started by assigning a starting phase for a given direction of motor direction. An aligning phase initially is energized to orient the rotor so as to provide adequate starting phase start-up torque. Following such alignment and start-up, the motor is operated in response to transitions of the sensible system. In one aspect, a reference phase attribute may be incorporated in the sensible system to provide a mandated reference phase energization when the rotor is oriented for reference phase activation. Further described is a sensible system magnetic region configuration which is combined with a single package Hall effect sensor to provide three-phase unipolar and four-phase commutation with absolute phase defining information.

  • Patent number: 6850804
Abstract: System method and apparatus for accurately carrying out the in situ heating of a targeted tissue. Small implants are employed with the targeted tissue which exhibit an abrupt change of magnetic permeability at an elected Curie temperature. The permeability state of the implant is monitored utilizing a magnetometer. The implants may be formed as a setpoint temperature determining component combined with a non-magnetic heater component to enhance the tissue heating control of the system. With the system, a very accurate quantum of heat energy can be supplied to a neoplastic lesion or tissue carrying infectious disease so as to maximize the induction of heat shock proteins. The system also may be utilized in conjunction with non-magnetic arterially implanted stents for the hyperthermia therapy treatment of restenosis and in conjunction with the mending of boney tissue.

  • Patent number: 6840098
Abstract: A method for measuring road surface friction of a road surface uses a vehicle that moves across the road surface. An auxiliary independent wheel is interposed between the vehicle and the road surface. The auxiliary wheel is freely rotatable by movement of the vehicle and is toed in (skewed) with respect to a direction of travel of the vehicle so as to create an axial force on the auxiliary wheel. The axial force on the auxiliary wheel is isolated and measured while the vehicle moves across the road surface. The measured axial force is correlated with the road surface friction.

Abstract: Apparatus for providing airflow within a vehicle. A first housing portion is mounted over a vehicle vent which defines an internal plenum dimensioned to receive the manually adjustable vent handle. A second adjacent plenum is defined by a second housing portion which extends to a fan port at which are mounted one or more battery powered electric motor driven fans. These fans are mounted pivotally as is the mount upon which they are supported. The apparatus may employ Pelfier devices for interior air temperature enhancements. One heatsink of these thermal devices is located within that plenum communicating with ambient or outside air, while the oppositely disposed interior air treatment heatsink is located within an adjacent forwardly positioned plenum. A low battery detector and annunciator assures maintenance of the vehicle battery power supply.

  • Patent number: 6772472
Abstract: An apparatus and method for collecting dust is disclosed. Preferably, the dust to be collected is chalk dust. The apparatus includes a housing supporting an eraser head and having a cavity in fluid communication with a suction device. Interposed between the cavity and the suction device is a collection chamber assembly. A matrix of apertures in the front wall are selectively openable and closeable by a controller in response to the orientation of the eraser. When the eraser is moved across a chalkboard to create airborne chalk dust, the apertures are selectively opened by the controller, the suction device urging the airborne chalk dust through the apertures, through the cavity, and into the collection chamber assembly where it is filtered and stored. The method includes the steps of providing the apparatus of the invention, energizing the suction device, and moving the eraser across a chalkboard to collect chalk dust.

  • Patent number: 6764016
Abstract: A method for identifying dip-galvanized parts commences with marking a tag (e.g., metal) with identification indicia for a galvanizable part. The markings and the tag are resistant to molten zinc. A temporary film is applied over the identification indicia. The temporary film is resistant to pre-galvanizing treatment, but is removed (burned away) during dip galvanizing without obscuring the readability of the identification indicia. Finally, the metal tag is associated with the galvanizable part and the part galvanized in a molten zinc bath.

  • Patent number: 6753895
Abstract: A method for marking cold (e.g., about room temperature to 800° F.) substrate (e.g., glass, ceramic, metal) commences by creating a tape of a carrier backing bearing a laser ablatable, non-tacky coating with optional barrier and release coatings between the carrier backing and the coating. The coating is laser ablated to form one or more of alphanumeric characters or graphics on the carrier backing. The ablated coating on the carrier backing is heated to form a tacky film of the coating on the carrier backing. The tacky film is roller transferred from the carrier backing onto a pliable transfer pad. Finally, the tacky film is roller transferred from the pliable transfer pad onto the cold substrate for its marking.

  • Patent number: 6746724
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system for marking objects for their identification which marks survive elevated temperatures of, say, up to 600° to 800° F. or higher, for extended periods of time. The inventive system for marking workpieces for their identification includes a laser that emits a beam select band of radiation and a coating system for application to a workpiece to be marked. The coating system includes two coats of paint, a topcoat and a basecoat which paints have been coated sequentially on the workpiece. The basecoat is an at least partially-cured, laser-blackenable paint which has been marked with fragile product identification indicia by the laser beam, after which a clear topcoat has been applied thereover. The laser generates fragile product identification indicia on the workpiece by its beam being directed onto the basecoat for its blackening to generate the fragile product identification indicia by the selective charring of said basecoat.

  • Patent number: 6740079
Abstract: An electrosurgical generator which provides a constant voltage and variable power output particularly suited for cutting arc formation at an active electrode which exhibits a dynamic active surface area of varying geometry. Essentially constant voltage-based control is achieved through the utilization of a d.c. link voltage the level of which functions to establish the amplitude of the output of an RF resonant inverter. A dual loop feedback control is described wherein output voltage based control signals are slowly introduced at low gain, while link voltage motor-based controls are comparatively rapidly applied. Enhanced development of a controlling d.c. link voltage is achieved through the utilization of an input network incorporating a power factor correction stage.
