  • Patent number: 7600129
Abstract: Determining access includes determining if particular credentials/proofs indicate that access is allowed, determining if there is additional data associated with the credentials/proofs, wherein the additional data is separate from the credentials/proofs, and, if the particular credentials/proofs indicate that access is allowed and if there is additional data associated with the particular credentials/proofs, then deciding whether to deny access according to information provided by the additional data. The credentials/proofs may be in one part or in separate parts. There may be a first administration entity that generates the credentials and other administration entities that generate proofs. The first administration entity may also generate proofs or may not generate proofs. The credentials may correspond to a digital certificate that includes a final value that is a result of applying a one way function to a first one of the proofs.

  • Patent number: 7318134
Abstract: Described are techniques used in connection with providing continuous data backups of primary storage. A first technique uses distributed partial journals and a copy of the primary storage. A distributed partial journal is used for each input port. The partial journals are periodically incorporated into a main journal in accordance with a time stamp for the data modification recorded in each partial journal entry. A second technique, a copy on write, uses the distributed partial journals without requiring a copy of the primary storage. For each write to an address, the current contents of the address is journaled before the address on primary storage is updated.

  • Patent number: 7279436
Abstract: A wide-meshed grid fabric, in particular a geogrid, in which warp thread bundles composed of multiple warp threads and weft thread bundles composed of multiple weft threads intersect and surround meshes or lattice openings. To give the grid fabric, which may also be a scrim, a greater volume, whereby, among other things, improved reinforcement of the soil may be achieved, individual threads of a thread bundle in a mesh are longer than other threads of the same thread bundle, the longer threads running in a wave pattern and forming at least one open loop or bulge per mesh; the open loop or bulge may protrude upward and/or downward from the plane of the grid fabric. A plastic coating may stiffen the grid fabric.

  • Patent number: 7190423
Abstract: A liquid crystal monitor incorporating therein a liquid crystal module having a direct backlight is configured to have receiving portions in a reflector 8 of the direct backlight that constitutes a liquid crystal module 13, in order to attach together the liquid crystal module 13 and a liquid crystal monitor member 12. The receiving portions are constituted by reflector extensions 111 that are formed by extending a bottom face of the reflector 8 toward a space between an inclined face of the reflector and an upper frame 2 of the liquid crystal module 13. Then, the liquid crystal monitor member 12 is fixed to the reflector extensions 111 by screws 407. Thus, the use of a space near the inclined face of the reflector allows a liquid crystal monitor to be thinned and reduced in its size and the width of monitor frame.
