  • Patent number: 4786431
Abstract: In a liquid laundry detergent composition containing a perborate bleach, hydroxylamine sulfate is added as a bleach stabilizer and specifically as an inhibitor of catalase, an enzyme present in natural body soils, which enzyme will rapidly decompose hydrogen peroxide, the active bleaching component of the perborate bleach. • Patent number: 4785060
Abstract: A soil release promoting copolymer of polyethylene terephthalate and polyoxyethylene terephthalate (PET-POET) having a weight average molecular weight in the range of 15,000 to 35,000, and a PET:POET molar ratio of about 2:1 to 6:1, is prepared by reacting polyethylene terephthalate with polyethylene glycol in the presence of a catalyst system including both antimony trioxide and calcium acetate or both titanium isopropoxide and sodium isopropoxide. The PET-POET copolymer provides improved soil release properties for oily and greasy stains from polyester fabrics at high and low wash temperatures and is stable even at high alkalinity levels. The starting PET can advantageously be obtained from scrap bottles.

  • Patent number: 4752409
Abstract: The physical stability of liquid gel-like compositions based on montmorillonite, attapulgite, hectorite or other inorganic colloid-forming clay or other thixotropic thickener is greatly improved by incorporating in the composition small amounts, such as 0.1 or 0.2 weight percent, of calcium, magnesium, aluminum or zinc stearate or other polyvalent metal salt of long chain fatty acid. The aqueous compositions containing inorganic builder salts and other functional inorganic salts, chlorine bleach, bleach-stable detergent, thixotropic thickener and polyvalent metal salt of a fatty acid as a physical stabilizer remain stable against phase separation for periods in excess of twelve weeks under a wide range of temperatures. The thixotropic properties can be retained or improved using smaller levels of the clay thixotropic thickener than in the absence of the physical stabilizer. Use as liquid gel-like automatic dishwasher compositions are described.

  • Patent number: 4735673
Abstract: This machine is intended for bonding stretched pieces of elastic band to a moving sheet so that these pieces extend transversely relative to the direction of movement of this sheet. The pieces are transferred from a cutting station to a stretching station by means of a transfer station. The stretching station comprises several pairs of grippers distributed around an axis about which they are driven in rotation. The grippers of one and the same pair are arranged axially opposite one another and are designed to be successively moved away from, and close to, one another so that, during their rotation, they grip the lateral ends of the pieces subsequently stretching the latter by moving axially away from one another. Once stretched, the pieces are bonded to the sheet entrained about a drum at the moment when the grippers pass opposite this sheet. The invention is used for the production of a composite sheet intended for providing diapers.

  • Patent number: 4725455
Abstract: A particulate built nonionic synthetic organic detergent composition includes a detersive proportion of a nonionic synthetic organic detergent and a building proportion, in combination, of a polyacetal carboxylate builder for the nonionic detergent and a polyphosphate builder for such nonionic detergent. Such compositions are readily made by adding polyacetal carboxylate builder to the formula of a control detergent composition, with corresponding diminutions of other component(s), and have detersive powers superior to such control despite the decrease in detergent and other builders. Preferably, certain nonionic detergents, polyacetal carboxylate builders and polyphosphate, in certain proportions, are employed for better detergency and physical characteristics, e.g., flowability.

Abstract: A particulate built nonionic synthetic organic detergent composition includes a detersive proportion of a nonionic synthetic organic detergent and a building proportion, in combination, of a polyacetal carboxylate builder for the nonionic detergent and carbonate and bicarbonate builders for such nonionic detergent. Such compositions are readily made by adding polyacetal carboxylate builder to the formula of a control detergent composition, with corresponding diminutions of other component(s), and have detersive powers superior to such control despite the decrease in proportions present of detergent and other builders.
