Abstract: A varicose ulcer is treated by establishing over a variable and repetitive period of time a localized pressure at the level of the perforating varis to force the blood back to the deep venous system. The pressure is generated by means applied from the exterior to the interior of the dehiscence of the tissues occupied by the perforating varix and a device for carrying out the process.

Abstract: An air distributor for the supply of a blade-type motor which can be rotated about its axis by means of a sleeve with which it is integral external to a casing, the rear end plate of the blade-type motor being constituted by a ring traversed by at least three openings which are off set at angles of 120.degree., characterized in that the end of the distributor facing the said ring is shaped so as to form, on the one hand, a chamber causing the outlet openings of the motor block to communicate with one or more outlet pipes for the air toward the exterior traversing the distributor and, on the other hand, a surface in direct contact with the said ring, on which surface there merges a feed duct for air traversing the said distributor originating from the compressed air source.Application: to hand-held dental instruments.

Abstract: A hand-held tape dispenser has a main frame supporting a tape roll feeding tape outwardly along a pivotal guide shoe past a pivotal cutter edge on a blade movable between a retracted position and an extended position; a thumb slide is drivingly connected to the blade to pivot it to its extended position and a finger operated lever operates at the completion of a tape dispensing operation firstly for clamping the tape against the tape guide shoe and secondly for rapidly moving the tape guide means to a retracted position spaced inwardly of said tape cutter edge when said tape cutter edge is in its extended position to tension the tape against the cutter edge to effect severing of the tape and provide a tape end tab extending outwardly of said dispenser upon return of the cutter edge to its retracted position.

Abstract: An outdoor cooking grill has a U-shaped support stand comprising a horizontal carrier beam attached to the upper ends of vertical legs; first and second fire grills are suspended from the horizontal carrier beam and are held together by clip connectors so that food, such as meat, is retained between the grill members. First and second fire grates are provided on opposite sides of the grill with each fire grate having one side supported by brackets on the vertical post with the other side being supported by a movable grate connected at an opposite end to an anchor block resting on the ground. Movement of the anchor block toward or away from the grill serves to position the fire grate inwardly or outwardly with respect to the food on the grate to adjust the cooking rate.

Abstract: A transparent plexiglass light conductor tube has a flashlight connected to one end with a lens and mirror on an opposite end being insertable in a gun bore so that light from the flashlight travels along the rod and is reflected by the mirror to the dispersing lens which radiates the light outwardly to illuminate the surrounding bore area. The transparent light conductor rod has an offset outer end portion to which the flashlight is connected so that the user has a clear view down the bore along the surface of the rod for inspecting the bore as the rod is moved axially along the length of the bore.

Abstract: Accident prevention apparatus for mounting on a machine, tractor or other apparatus having at least one moving part driven by a power source. The accident prevention apparatus comprises, in electrical circuit, an elongate contact-sensitive antenna, movement-sensitive means and means including a solenoid to cut off power from the power source.The movement-sensitive means includes a mounting and a plate spaced apart and insulated from each other, the antenna being rooted to the mounting to extend therefrom through a hole in the plate and therebeyond to extend in the vicinity of the moving part. Contact with the antenna by the operator's clothing causes it to touch the plate which actuates the solenoid to cut off the power to the machine or to the moving part of the machine.

Abstract: This invention relates to an anchor bolt expansion unit and the bolt assembly using such a unit. The unit consists of a plurality of leaves connected together by a bail having a flat cap and fingers secured one to each leaf. The flat cap is dimpled to ensure an even distribution of tension applied to the fingers before the bail yields in use and also has a line of weakness to ensure that it will yield at a predetermined axial pressure. The fingers of the bail are also weakened at points in their length to a strength slightly greater than that resulting at the peripheral line of weakness.

Abstract: A shelving system comprising a shelf bracket of light weight material adapted to be fixed to an elongated substantially vertical slotted member. The bracket includes an insert of high tensile strength a portion of which is firmly embedded in the bracket at or near the top load carrying edge thereof. The insert has a free end extending from the bracket. Abutment means are provided adjacent the bottom edge of the bracket. The free end of the insert is shaped to engage the slot in the slotted member, while the abutment means abuts against the slotted member. A load placed on the bracket causes it to be firmly fixed in position relative to the slotted member through cantilever action.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for severing and transferring a label, wherein the transfer device comprises, on the one hand, for the free end of the label web, a receiver member provided with elements for mechanically holding the edges of the web, and mounted downstream of the severing device on a support which is movable along a straight line transverse with respect to the web between the position of reception of the web end and the immediate vicinity of one of the open parts of the mold and, on the other hand, a pneumatically controlled push member sliding in the support and intended for expelling the severed label from the receiver member and for pushing it against the lateral face of a mold part when this member is in the immediate vicinity of the part.

Abstract: A disc-shaped nipple cover has a flexible paper backing sheet covered with pressure sensitive adhesive and a central soft feld pad. Release paper coverings protect the nipple cover until removal prior to usage.

Abstract: A universal mechanical seal gland formed of plastic has a central aperture positionable over a shaft extending from a housing for positioning a stationary seal against a rotary seal on the shaft. The central aperture is formed of a plurality of cylindrical and radial surfaces which define sealing surfaces permitting the gland to be used with a variety of differently sized and shaped seal members and housings and differently sized shafts.

Abstract: A liquid basting injector for poultry or the like has a reservoir of liquid basting material connected by a conduit to a hollow cylindrical dispensing chamber in which a dispensing piston and rod are mounted for reciprocation; power cylinder means has a power rod connected to the dispensing piston and rod for reciprocating same to draw a measured amount of basting material into the chamber and then dispense it through an injector needle connected to the chamber by a flexible hose. An adjustable stop is positioned to be engaged by the upper end of the power rod of the power cylinder for limiting the extent of movement of the power cylinder and the dispensing piston to adjust the amount of liquid basting material drawn into the dispensing chamber in accordance with a predetermined value dependent upon the weight of the poultry into which the liquid basting material is to be injected.

Abstract: A canopy cutting device, for machining canopies and the like in constricted spaces, including a housing having a base plate, a bearing mounted on the housing, a support for retaining the axis of the bearing in a desired position, a ring gear carriage mounted on the bearing for rotation about the bearing, a cutting tool mounted on the carriage, a pinion gear mounted for rotation on the housing and engageable with the ring gear, a drive shaft connected to the pinion gear, and a feed device for advancing the cutting tool along the axis during rotation of the ring gear thereby permitting removal of a canopy or the like.

Abstract: A ball valve is provided especially for use between adjacent sections of a pipe line conducting an inflammable fluid and comprises a valve housing, a valve ball (2) in the housing and having a through passage, a trunnion in the housing projecting into a first socket in the ball, and a control shaft projecting into and drivingly engaging a second socket in the ball diametrally opposed to the first socket. A pair of annular valve seat members (4) spaced axially of the pipe line carry sealing rings (8), spring means (9) urging the seat members towards the ball. Each seat member at its end adjacent the spring means has a frusto-conical portion (11) which tapers from a shoulder (12) on the seat member towards the end face (4A) of the latter. A graphite ring (13) is fitted between the frusto-conical portion and the adjacent peripheral wall of the housing and a first spacer ring (14) is located between the graphite ring and the shoulder.

Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed for disposing and stretching fabric about a frame, including first and second fabric locking members for releasably receiving and securing thereto the opposing peripheral edges, respectively, of a piece of fabric drawn about the frame. Each such locking member includes a support surface for receiving the frame, and a mechanism for releasably receiving and securing the fabric's edge in a manner that the fabric is disposed against the rear of the surface of the frame to facilitate the securing of the fabric by suitable fastening means, such as nails, tacks, etc. to the frame.

Abstract: A toilet has first and second hinges equidistantly spaced on opposite sides of a medial plane of the toilet with each hinge including a vertical hinge post having a horizontal pivot hole receiving a tubular pivot sleeve extending unitarily from a cover hinge body member with a pivot shaft of a seat hinge extending into the pivot sleeve for pivotal movement. The seat hinge and cover hinge each have outwardly extending spikes inserted in mounting bores in the seat and cover with the spikes having protrusions for retention in the mounting bores and being oriented at an acute angle to and flaring outwardly in reverse manner with respect to the medial plane with the post and hinge components being formed of fiberglass reinforced polypropylene.
