  • Patent number: 5198792
Abstract: A miniature electrical fuse has electrical lead wires (8) to permit the fuse to be connected into a circuit without use of a fuse holder. Wires (8) are resistance welded to electrically conductive end caps (4) closing off the end of a non-conductive tubular housing (3) containing a fusible element (1). Element (1) is connected to the caps (4) by solder joints (7) and caps (4) are connected to housing (3) by solder joints (6). The solder is a lead/tin alloy of high melting point. The end walls of the caps (4) are comparatively thick in relation to their side walls in the range 1.3 to 1 and 2.1 to 1.

  • Patent number: 5187404
Abstract: An improved low voltage igniter of the type having an annular spark gap between a center electrode and annular ground electrode which is arranged coaxial with the center electrode. The spark gap is shunted by an insulator surface. Semiconducting material is deposited on the insulator surface as one or more rings which are coaxial with and spaced from the electrodes. The semiconducting rings reduce the voltage required to initiate a spark across the spark gap.

  • Patent number: 5158326
Abstract: A pipe connector including a main body having a stepped bore in one end for telescopic insertion over the end of a pipe, creating a stepped annular area around the pipe. A slip retaining nut is threaded into the end of the main body around the pipe, closing off the stepped annular area. Slips are carried in a tapered annular space between the nut and pipe. Prior to actuation, the slips are held up in disengaged position by shear pins. A pair of metal seal rings is disposed in the end of the stepped annular area opposite the nut. A pair of dual-acting, hydraulically actuated pistons is disposed in the stepped annular area between the metal seal rings and slips. Hydraulic pressure actuates the upper piston to move upwardly to energize the metal seals, and the lower piston to move downwardly to actuate the slips into gripping engagement with the pipe.

  • Patent number: 5133383
Abstract: An axicage multistage choke (10) wherein fluid flow is caused to impinge upon itself at each stage. Fluid entering inlet (14) is distributed by primary annulus (32) around the interior of upper cage (30). Fluid enters upper cage port (36) and impinges on itself in axial chamber (37). Fluid leaves chamber (37) through stem slots (38) into secondary annulus (42). From secondary annulus (42) fluid passes through lower cage ports (46) into axial chamber (47), again impinging on itself and dissipating energy. Fluid leaves choke (10) through outlet (16). Additional stages maybe added depending on the flow rate or pressure drop desired in the valve.

  • Patent number: 5131242
Abstract: A closed loop refrigerant recovery system (10) having a primary purge condenser (20) and a secondary purge condenser (30 ). Non-condensible gas and refrigerant vapor is vented from condenser (8) to primary purge condenser (20). Non-condensible gas still containing refrigerant vapor is compressed by purge conpressor (50) and conducted to secondary purge condenser (30). The temperature of secondary purge condenser (30) is maintained low enough so that when relief valve (36) lifts, there will be no refrigerant vapor contained in the gas released.

  • Patent number: 5125387
Abstract: This invention provides an ignition system for a spark initiated internal combustion engine such as an Otto cycle engine. High voltage pulses are generated, for instance by way of an ignition coil, and these are passed to the respective spark gaps by way of semiconductor switches. These semiconductor switches are preferably bulk photoconductive switch devices which each comprise a light source and a photosensitive switch. These devices are under the control of control circuitry which activates and deactivates the light sources approximately to distribute the high voltage pulses to the spark plugs. These switches may be used to improve the rise time of the potential across the spark gap or to generate a plurality of sparks in one gap from a single pulse.

  • Patent number: 5086808
Abstract: A balanced sleeve control choke includes a choke with inlet and outlet flow passages intersecting in a cylindrical flow chamber. A balanced external sleeve and cage trim configuration which vents downstream pressure to a balance chamber within the choke body includes an external sleeve with a wear sleeve of tungsten carbide shrink fitted therein is reciprocable within the flow chamber to control flow between the inlet and outlet flow passages. The external sleeve is closed at one end with a stem extending therefrom which is reciprocated by a handwheel operated travelling nut assembly. The external sleeve telescopes over a flow cage of composite construction secured within the flow chamber with a portion of the flow cage constructed of tungsten carbide with pressure balancing ports therethrough. The external sleeve has ports disposed within its wall which communicate downstream pressure to a balance chamber disposed thereabout.
