Abstract: A process for producing 2-acrylamide-2-methyl propane sulfonic acid (ATBS) which comprises reacting acrylonitrile, fuming sulfuric acid, and isobutylene. During the reaction, the concentration of 2-methyl-2-propenyl-1-sulfonic acid (IBSA) and/or that of 2-methylidene-1,3-propylenedisulfonic acid (IBDSA) in the reaction system are determined. When the IBSA concentration exceeds 12,000 mass ppm and/or the IBDSA concentration exceeds 6,000 mass ppm, then the concentration of sulfur trioxide in the reaction system is reduced. Thus, ATBS having an IBSA content of 100 mass ppm or lower and an IBDSA content of 100 mass ppm or lower is produced.
Abstract: A cleaning article comprises a substrate in the form of a wipe loaded with a cleaning agent and loaded with a heat generating agent which generates heat when the wipe is exposed to water.
Abstract: The invention provides a moist wipe for cleaning a surface, the wipe comprising a sheet material premoistened with an aqueous emulsion comprising a wax and no or a low amount of silicone compounds. The wipe is used to wipe a surface, to prevent or reduce against water staining on the surface, as might arise from subsequent contact with aqueous liquids. The invention further provides a packaged product containing at least one wipe, and a method of manufacturing moist wipes.
Abstract: Tertiary non-vinylic carbamates of molecular weight less than 350 are useful as fragrance ingredients. A method of preparation is also described.
Abstract: A detergent dispensing device for an automatic washing machine has a cartridge, a selecting mechanism, an operating mechanism, and a thermal element. The cartridge includes a plurality of chambers to accommodate a detergent composition. The selecting mechanism selectively exposes each chamber to wash liquor allowing the detergent, in use, to be washed out of the chamber. The operating mechanism is movable from a first position to a second position for loading mechanical energy into the device which provides a restoring force for the operating mechanism. The thermal element retains the operating means in the second position and is arranged to move when subjected to an elevated temperature prevailing in an interior of the washing machine during a wash cycle, thereby the thermal element moves or releases the operating mechanism. The operating mechanism is arranged to advance the selecting mechanism to an adjacent chamber as the cartridge remains stationary.

Abstract: The present invention refers to methyl-substituted double-unsaturated macrocyclic lactones comprising 14 to 17 ring atoms of formula (I) wherein n and m are independently selected from 1, 2, 3 and 4 with the proviso that 3?n+m?6. The invention relates furthermore to their use as odorant and fragrance composition comprising them.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a polyethoxysiloxane (PES) material to be obtained in that (a) a first hydrolysis condensation reaction of a maximum of one group X of one or more different Si compounds of the formula (I) SiX4 (I) in which the groups X are the same or different and represent hydroxy, hydrogen, or ethoxy (EtO), are catalyzed in an acidic fashion at an initial pH value of 0 to ?7, is conducted in the presence of ethanol (EtOH) or an ethanol-water mixture as a solvent over a time period of 1 to 24 hours at a temperature of 0° C. to 78° C, (b) a second hydrolysis condensation reaction of the material obtained in step (a) is conducted while simultaneously removing the solvent by successive evaporation in a gas diffusion-tight container at a pressure of 100 to 1013 mbar, preferably at a slight negative pressure of 300 mbar to 800 mbar and a temperature of 50-78° C. until a drastic increase in viscosity (at a shear rate of 10 s?1 at 4° C.) to 0.
