  • Patent number: 7861975
Abstract: An in-space spacecraft servicing system (10) includes a servicing spacecraft (22) and a propellant module (24). The servicing spacecraft includes a client servicing system (136), as well as navigation avionics (108) for independent flight operation and a servicing propellant tank (170). The propellant module moves the servicing module from an upper stage drop off location and releases it in proximity to a client spacecraft (16) for a servicing mission. It has a propellant tank (172) with capacity for multiple missions and is used to refill the servicing spacecraft's propellant tanks between missions. Either or both the servicing spacecraft and the propellant module may have navigation avionics. The servicing spacecraft also has a universal docking adaptor (70) for different client spacecraft, and can convert a client spacecraft from non-cooperative to cooperative.

  • Patent number: 7841494
Abstract: The invention is a pump cap that is designed to seat on top of a receptacle, which in at least one example is filled with powder or hair fibers. The cap is fitted on top with a deformable dome with an empty chamber of air within it. The cap has an air inlet with a check valve that then opens into a wide flared opening into the dome's empty chamber. The air in the dome is pushed past a check valve and down a long passageway into the receptacle to aggressively disturb the powder or hair fibers within the receptacle. The disturbed hair fibers or powder then exits the cap through a third passage with a flared opening that is flush with the bottom of the cap that then exits out the side of the cap.

  • Patent number: 7819302
Abstract: An aluminum tubular unit for long-term, leak-free storage of fluids is formed in which an aluminum cap is ultrasonically welded to an end of the aluminum tube. The ultrasonic weld is formed from a device capable of producing a torsional vibration pattern. The ultrasonic welding of the cap to the tube eliminates the use of seals and pins to seal the cap to the tube and further eliminates the need for having a hole in the cap to mechanically couple the respective end cap to the cylindrical tube. Furthermore, since ultrasonic welding does not generate significant heat, highly volatile and flammable fluids can be present within the tube when the caps are ultrasonically welded to the cylindrical body. In addition, one or more fins used may also be welded to the outside diameter of the cylindrical body using a related ultrasonic welding process.
