Abstract: Reinforcing connector (10) for reinforcing attachment among components (110) of a structure (100); such as crossing beams (111), beam (111) supporting a slab deck (113), or masonry blocks (118). Reinforcing connector (10) includes a length of roving (20) composed of filaments (25). Roving (20) is disposed in borehole (50) piercing component (110). Free ends (21,23) of roving (20) protrude from borehole openings (51) and are splayed apart into individual filaments (25). Filaments (25) are attached to surfaces of components (110) with adhesive means (30). Reinforcing connector (10) increases ductility and resistance to lateral forces of structure (100).
Abstract: A self-contained turn signal indicator unit for signaling to the hearing impaired driver of a motor vehicle that the vehicle's turn signals are activated. The indicator unit is attached to the cover of the vehicle's steering column and produces a loud audible signal and a light signal when the turn signal lever is moved to the turning position. The circuitry includes a battery, a turn switch activated by movement of the turn signal lever, and a buzzer and a lamp. A volume control, operable by a user, controls the volume of the sound. An optional timed switch for turning off the circuit has a normally closed position and has an open position for a predetermined period of time after the turn switch is closed and remains closed.
Abstract: A jaw for the chuck of a turning device such as a lathe generally comprises a base, a tooth adjustable relative to the base in the radial direction and a cam for adjusting the tooth position. The base may be held on the chuck and driven in a conventional manner. The tooth has a face for engaging a workpiece and is attached to the base such that the face is radially movable relative to the base. The cam includes a surface bearing against the base and a surface bearing against the tooth. The cam varies in thickness such that movement of the cam changes the radial distance between the base and the tooth. In exemplary embodiments, the cam is an eccentric cylinder that rotates to adjust the tooth or is wedge shaped and one or both of the bearing surfaces of the tooth and base are ramps.
Abstract: A vault for a weapon having a handle generally comprises a lock box defining a cavity having a front opening, a door hingly attached to the box, a slider assembly including a slider and a holster mounted to the slider adapted for holstering a weapon with the handle forward, wall guides guiding the slider in the box for sliding reciprocating movement in the front to rear direction, and links linking the door and the slider such that moving the door between the closed position and the open position moves the slider from the storage position wherein the weapon in the holster is within the cavity to the deployed position wherein the handle of a weapon in the holster protrudes from the opening for gripping by a user.
Abstract: A positioner for positioning a partition or a divider at a predetermined position in a cabinet, such as for mounting a pair of drawers. The cabinet includes left and right side walls. A partition holder mounted on a frame holds the partition parallel to the left and right side walls. A left slider, slidingly mounted to the frame, includes a left jaw, and a right slider, slidingly mounted to the frame, includes a right jaw. The sliders are coupled such that longitudinal sliding movement of either slider moves the other slider an equal and opposite distance and such that positioning the left jaw to abut and align with the left side wall and positioning the right jaw to abut and align with the right side wall positions the partition holder at a predetermined holding position between the left and right side walls.
Abstract: A pier cap for a disposition atop a pier of support for a structure, such as a manufactured home generally comprises a rectangular body having a generally flat planar textured top and support webs including a peripheral, downward extending wall and a plurality of internal webs and an open interior in the body between the webs. The webs are designed to be supported by the upper surface of a concrete block having vertical cells. Coupling projections, connected to the body and rising above the top, couple with the webs of a stacked cap to prevent sliding. The pier caps can be arranged in stacked layers of multiple caps.
