    Abstract: A centrifugal blower wheel is provided with forward-curved multi-blades comprising a pair of end rings, a plurality of blades and a disk. By separating the blades into "vane members" which assume the function of a fluid device and "vane attachment members" which assume the function of a high speed rotating device, there is a greater degree of freedom of design, so optimum materials and shapes can be assigned to these different functions. The end rings, vane attachment members and disk are therefore constructed of metal and provided with beads so as to give a highly rigid structure, while the vane members are constructed of non-metal. This makes it possible to provide a blower wheel which is more lightweight and quieter in operation than a conventional blower wheel.

    Abstract: A cellulose ether having a low degree of polymerization is used as a base for film-coating pharmaceuticals. The cellulose ether having a low degree of polymerization obtained by causticizing a pulp having a copper number of not more than 0.4 g, adding an etherifying agent to form a cellulose ether having a high degree of polymerization, then refining it with hot water, drying by heating, finely pulverizing the dried cellulose ether and depolymerizing the fine powder has high whiteness and is thus suitable for use as a base for film-coating pharmaceuticals. The viscosity of a 2% aqueous solution of the cellulose having a low degree of polymerization is preferably not more than 20 cSt at 20.degree. C. The cellulose having a low degree of polymerization is selected from methyl cellulose, hydroxymethyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl cellulose, hydroxypropyl cellulose, hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose and hydroxybutyl methyl cellulose.

    Abstract: In diodes used with high withstand voltages, the pin-type diode has a low on-resistance, but a large switching loss. Even if a lifetime killer is introduced, the low on-resistance and the switching loss cannot be compatible since both factors are in a trade-off relation. The invention overcomes these problems by providing a semiconductor device that includes p.sup.+ -type anode layers and p.sup.+ -type floating drain layers that are connected to the anode layers by a MOSFET 20 formed on the surface of an n.sup.- -type conductivity-modulating layer. When a forward voltage is applied, holes are injected from the drain layers to create an element with a conductivity-modulated condition and realize a low on-resistance. By the time a reverse voltage is applied, the drain layers have already been separated to reduce the number of excessive carriers. Thus, the reverse recovery current is suppressed.

Meanwhile, on the metal deposits, a metal base layer, a magnetic layer, a protective layer, and a lubrication layer are laminated sequentially to form a magnetic recording disk. On the disk surface, ultrafine irregularities are formed that reflect the shapes of the metal deposits, thereby realizing a reduction in the friction coefficient.

    Abstract: An optical disc apparatus, which uses an optical disc having a signal recorded on both hollow and convex portions of tracks, provides stable tracking control. An offset judging circuit judges whether the signal has been recorded only on either of two recording regions adjacent in a vertical direction to the track direction. An offset application circuit applies an offset voltage to an error signal on the basis of a control signal output in accordance with the result of the offset judging means. This effectively cancels an offset in the tracking error signal caused by the existence of recording pits only on an inner circumference side or outer circumference side of an adjacent recording track to provide stable tracking control. Moreover, addresses of presently recorded regions are stored in a recorded address control memory, so that detection that the signal has been recorded on either of two adjacent recording regions can be performed with a simple structure.

    Abstract: A reliable, low cost system for generating precisely aligned pixel clock and index signals for a digital scanning or printing system is based on the use of a phase locked loop multiplier to generate a sampling clock precisely synchronized to the drum position encoder sensor output. The sample clock frequency is chosen to be a large, known multiple M of the pixel clock frequency. The pixel clock is chosen to be the sample clock divided by M, making it the proper frequency. Pixel clock phase is established by resetting, on the trailing edge of an index signal generated by a line start index sensor, a .div.M counter used in deriving the pixel clock from the sample clock. The rising edge of the pixel clock is then established to within .+-.(1/M) pixel clock periods of the trailing edge of the index signal.

The infrared gas analyzer includes an infrared radiation source, a measuring cell, a reference cell, and a detector. Two thermal sensors are disposed in the gas flow channel, each of which further includes pairs of thermo-elements. The thermo-elements are arranged in such close proximity to each other, as to originate a thermal coupling between the pairing elements, and the thermo-element pairs are separated by a distance across which thermal coupling between the thermo-element pairs becomes insignificant. The detector detects, by the thermal sensors, a gas flow indicative of infrared absorption intensity difference between the measuring and reference cells.
