Fasteners affix the lens-defining member to the frame portion, and first and second temples extend rearwardly of the frame portion at the first and second sides of the frame portion, respectively.
Abstract: A swager machine and die includes a base with a product holder assembly mounted thereon for linear reciprocating movement between a start and a finished position along an axis of movement. A disc is rotatably mounted on the base and has a swaging die mounted thereon. The swaging die defines a die cavity having an open and a closed position. The die cavity has a longitudinal axis coaxial with an axis of rotation of the disc and coaxial with the axis of movement of the product holder assembly. A hub assembly is rotatably mounted on the disc for relative rotation between the hub assembly and the disc. The hub assembly includes actuating apparatus positioned to engage a portion of the swaging die and move the swaging die from the open to the closed position during relative rotation of the hub assembly and the disc.
Abstract: Radial compression mechanism includes a base member and a plurality of elongated compression dies. The dies are arranged in a generally circular orientation on the base member with a contact surface of each die in sliding contact with a base surface of an adjacent die. A portion of each base surface of each die cooperates with portions of base surfaces of adjacent dies to define a generally cylindrical central cavity moved between open and closed positions by a driving mechanism. The dies are cammingly coupled to the base member and to the driving mechanism so that rotation of the driving mechanism about the central axis causes each die to move generally arcuately about a point of camming engagement with the base member.

Abstract: An athletic training shoe weighted insert including a metallic powder filled thermoplastic elastomer is formed. A method of manufacturing the athletic training shoe weighted insert with a desired softness or durometer and a desired specific gravity includes the steps of selecting a metallic powder filler, with a desired specific gravity, and a thermoplastic elastomer, and a plasticizer that will produce the desired softness of the weighted insert. The method includes a compounding step of combining the thermoplastic elastomer, metallic powder and plasticizer into a pelletized compound with a desired quantity or percentage of the metallic powder filler to bring the specific gravity to the desired level and to achieve the desired softness. In a preferred embodiment the pelletized compound is then formed into the finished insert by use of the plastic injection molding process.
Abstract: A method of fabricating a double gate FET on a silicon substrate includes the steps of sequentially epitaxially growing a lower gate layer of crystalline rare earth silicide material on the substrate, a lower gate insulating layer of crystalline rare earth insulating material, an active layer of crystalline semiconductor material, an upper gate insulating layer of crystalline rare earth insulating material, and an upper gate layer of crystalline rare earth conductive material. The upper gate layer and the upper gate electrically insulating layer are etched and a contact is deposited on the upper gate layer to define an upper gate structure. An impurity is implanted into the lower gate layer to define a lower gate area aligned with the upper gate structure. A source and drain are formed in the active layer and contacts are deposited on the source and drain, respectively.

The chest support extension is supported between the base and the seat support in the stored positions of the seat and the chest support.
Abstract: A muzzle loading bullet gas check has external recess and ridge system, and/or an internal locking ridge system. The preferred gas check has an opening or recess on its front end for receiving and frictionally engaging a rearwardly extending post of the bullet, the opening also preferably including an internal radial ridge for gripping the post and/or locking with an indent on the post. The barrel-interacting part of the gas check has one or more external recesses and adjacent radial ridges/edges protruding relative to the recesses, which serves to reduce the total surface area of the gas check contacting the bore. The recesses do not touch the bore of the firearm, resulting in less friction and easier loading, while the outer ends/surfaces of the ridges/edges do touch the bore to retain the bullet in the bore during handling and hunting and to effectively capture gasses after the firing explosion.
Abstract: A method of generating pathogen detecting liposomes includes a step of providing molecular beacons with fluorescing components. The molecular beacons include either strands of RNA or DNA and the fluorescing components include an emitter and a quencher. The method further uses nanodroplet technology to encapsulate the molecular beacons within a lipid membrane. Subsequently, receptors are assembled in association with the membrane.

Abstract: A rifle with an upper receiver and a barrel attached to the upper receiver and including a bolt carrier, and operating, buffer, and cooling systems. The operating system includes a cylinder and a piston coupled to receive propelling gases from the barrel. As the piston moves between retracted and extended positions the bolt carrier is moved between closed and open positions. The bolt carrier includes a weight movable within a guide frame between rearward and forward limits. The buffer system includes a compression spring in a tube attached to the upper receiver in abutting engagement with the bolt carrier. A partially fluid filled cylinder is attached to a coil of the spring and includes a piston and shaft. The piston is formed so that fluid in the cylinder restricts movement in one direction and allows free movement in a second direction.
Abstract: A grill assembly includes a flat, broad first grill having a first upper grill face to receive food to be cooked and an opposed lower grill face, and a flat, broad second grill having a second upper grill face to receive food to be cooked, and an opposed second lower grill face. The second grill is positioned atop the first upper grill face of the first grill juxtaposing the second lower grill face of the second grill opposite to the first upper grill face of the first grill. A coupling is formed between the first grill and the second grill to allow rotation of the second grill relative to the first grill.
Abstract: A method of fabricating semiconductor components in-situ and in a continuous integrated sequence includes the steps of providing a single crystal semiconductor substrate, epitaxially growing a first layer of rare earth insulator material on the semiconductor substrate, epitaxially growing a first layer of semiconductor material on the first layer of rare earth insulator material, epitaxially growing a second layer of rare earth insulator material on the first layer of semiconductor material, and epitaxially growing a second layer of semiconductor material on the second layer of rare earth insulator material. The first layer of rare earth insulator material, the first layer of semiconductor material, the second layer of rare earth insulator material, and the second layer of semiconductor material form an in-situ grown structure of overlying layers. The in-situ grown structure is etched to define a semiconductor component and electrical contacts are deposited on the semiconductor component.
Abstract: A conduit holder is constructed to be mounted to an elongated metal beam with upper and lower surfaces and rod-like coupling elements extending therebetween. The conduit holder includes a conduit path defining element with an opening defining an axis. The opening is designed to receive conduit therethrough parallel to the axis. An attachment element is fixed to the conduit path defining element and includes an elongated channel extending transverse to the axis of the conduit defining element. The channel has an external opening directed generally toward the conduit defining element and is constructed to engage a coupling element of the metal beam in the elongated channel and hold the conduit path defining element with the opening directed generally transverse to the metal beam.
Abstract: A fully depleted MOSFET has a semiconductor-on-insulator substrate that includes a substrate material, a BOX positioned on the substrate material, and an active layer positioned on the BOX. The BOX includes a first layer of material with a first dielectric constant and a first thickness and a second layer of material having a second dielectric constant different than the first dielectric constant and a second thickness different than the first thickness. The first layer of material is positioned adjacent the substrate material and the second layer of material is positioned adjacent the active layer. Drain and source regions are formed in the active layer so as to be fully depleted. The drain and source regions are separated by a channel region in the active layer. A gate insulating layer overlies the channel region and a gate stack is positioned on the gate insulating region. It is anticipated that the structure is most useful for channel regions less than 90 nm long.
