Patent number: 8197328Abstract: A game involves emulating spinning and randomly stopping virtual reels. If a special symbol is displayed in the matrix, and the special symbol is not used in a winning combination of symbols, then, for the next game, the special symbol is held in its position in the array, and all the reels are spun to randomly display symbols in all positions in the matrix other than in the special symbol position. If the special symbol is used in a winning combination of symbols, the special symbol is not held. The machine may hold the special symbol for an unlimited number of games as long as the player makes a maximum bet or an extra bet. Under certain conditions, an award for a winning combination using the held special symbol is enhanced the longer the special symbol is held without being used, so the player desires to not utilize the special symbol right away.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2008Date of Patent: June 12, 2012Assignee: Spielo International Austria GmbHInventor: Guenter Bluemel

Patent number: 8152625Abstract: Various bonus games for being played on a gaming machine are described. The base game may consist of the random selection and display of a 5×3 matrix of symbols. In one bonus game (FIGS. 5-7), upon a certain outcome of the base game including special symbols, all symbols in the matrix except for the special symbols are replaced with values, such as different credit amounts. The player selects a particular special symbol using a touch screen, and the identified special symbol randomly moves to select one of the displayed values in the matrix. In another game (FIGS. 11-13), the player applies hidden multipliers to a randomly selected award value in the matrix. In another game (FIGS. 14-19), pointers moving across the matrix of values accumulate values for awarding to the player. The multi-stage interactive bonus games add excitement and more player involvement.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 2007Date of Patent: April 10, 2012Assignee: Spielo International Austria GmbHInventor: Michael Gauselmann

Patent number: 8150273Abstract: An optical receiver includes an optical detector having an input that is positioned to detect an optical data signal. The optical detector generates a voltage at an output that is proportional to an optical intensity of the optical data signal. A differential amplifier includes a data input that is electrically connected to the output of the optical detector and a decision threshold voltage signal input. The differential amplifier generates a data signal at a data output and an inverse data signal at a data_bar output. Patent number: 8138851Abstract: A transmission line equalizer includes multiple signal paths connected in parallel between an equalizer input signal and an output amplifier where each signal path has a network implementing a specific frequency dependent response and each signal path implements current gain amplification with one or more of the signal paths having a variable gain programmed through a time invariant, DC programming signal. Furthermore, one or more of the signal paths implements linear-to-nonlinear signal transformations and compensating nonlinear-to-linear signal transformations to generate linearized output signals at the one or more signal paths. The equalizer further includes the output amplifier summing output signals from the multiple signal paths to generate an equalized output signal. In operation, the gain of the one or more signal paths is varied to establish the relative proportions of the output signals generated by each signal path and summed at the output amplifier.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 2010Date of Patent: March 20, 2012Assignee: Micrel, Inc.Inventors: Robert C. Patent number: 8130133Abstract: In an A/D converter, isolation switches are used between the capacitors and the conversion switches. The conversion switches are those switches used to selectively couple the plates of the binary weighted capacitors to either Vref or 0 volts during the A/D conversion process. During sampling of the input voltage signal, the isolation switches are opened to isolate the conversion switches from the wide range of possible input voltages at the bottom plates of the capacitors. Therefore, the voltage across the conversion switches is substantially limited to Vref. Hence, the conversion switches can be very fast low voltage switches. After sampling of the input voltage, when the sampled input voltage is locked in, the conversion switches operate normally to selectively connect the capacitor plates to either Vref or 0 volts for successively approximating the input voltage, whereby a digital code representing the sampled input voltage is generated.Type: GrantFiled: July 27, 2010Date of Patent: March 6, 2012Assignee: Linear Technology CorporationInventor: Jesper Steensgaard-Madsen
