The voice pendants can be carried or worn by the residents/patients/members of the home or the facility to assist in calling for help in an emergency situation, e.g., if someone has fallen and cannot get up. By activating an actuator (e.g., a button or switch) on the pendant, the person wearing the pendant is put into voice communication with the monitoring station without the need to dial any phone numbers or hit a “send” style button which indicates the end of a dialed number sequence.

Each stop comprises an elastomer element coming into contact with the facing other piece during deformations of sufficient amplitude of the isolating stud, the stiffness of the elastomer of the stop being greater than that of the stud. Application to the isolation of vibrating equipment on a satellite carrier structure.

The elongated body includes a first region, a second region, and an angled region disposed between the first and second region. The prong region has a longitudinal axis that is substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the angled region of the elongated body of the bone plate. A double barreled drill guide and associated interchangeable cooperating inner drill guides and gauges are provided to facilitate the drilling of pilot holes in a terminal bone fragment for axial insertion of the pointed prong regions of the hook members.

    Abstract: A security device for preventing the theft of merchandise or other articles that provides for a closed loop system that is self-shunting without the need for removable shunt plugs. The preferred device comprises a plurality of jacks attached to a circuit board for receiving connector plug assemblies that are operatively connected to the articles through sensors. When the connector plug assemblies are not within a jack, a jack contact will engage a nail contact to close a circuit, thereby shunting the jack. Insertion of the connector plug assembly will deflect the jack contact away from the nail contact and create a second closed loop indicating that the jack is in use, and which will monitor and warn of any tampering with the sensor on the article.

    Abstract: A material is exposed to a neutron flux by distributing it in a neutron-diffusing medium surrounding a neutron source. The diffusing medium is transparent to neutrons and so arranged that neutron scattering substantially enhances the neutron flux to which the material is exposed. Such enhanced neutron exposure may be used to produce useful radio-isotopes, in particular for medical applications, from the transmutation of readily-available isotopes included in the exposed material. It may also be used to efficiently transmute long-lived radioactive wastes, such as those recovered from spent nuclear fuel. The use of heavy elements, such as lead and/or bismuth, as the diffusing medium is particularly of interest, since it results in a slowly decreasing scan through the neutron energy spectrum, thereby permitting very efficient resonant neutron capture in the exposed material.

This detection of complete emptying is a step in a method of managing propellant that makes it possible to allocate the remaining propellant to a residual lifetime for the satellite in orbit and/or to re-orbiting or de-orbiting the satellite.

A lookup table is employed to determine a temperature value associated with the thermistor resistance value. This serves as the sensed temperature of the associated bank of thermistors. A plurality of tip-over switches are provided. One tip-over switch is disposed between the microcontroller and the heating element.

    Abstract: An electrical power supply system for a satellite with continuously controlled DC-voltage is suitable for recharging batteries without requiring any specific charge module. To this purpose, at least one solar generator section, so-called charge section, is connected directly to a battery output terminal (B). Simultaneously, at least one battery discharge module is dedicated to the control of a residual current that is not used for recharging the batteries. A first regulator is added to the system in order to control said residual current on the basis of a current produced by the charge section and a charge target for the batteries. Optionally, a second regulator may also be added, in order to directly control the current produced by the charge section when equipment that is electrically powered has a low consumption.
