  • Patent number: 4001358
Abstract: A cementitious conduit is formed in situ in a ditch or the like by defining an elongated volume of annular cross-section within the ditch with the axis of elongation of the annular volume extending along the ditch and with one end of the annular volume closed and the other end thereof open. A solidifiable cementitious material is introduced into the annular volume at the closed end thereof and such cementitious material is continuously urged to move toward the open end thereof at a rate at least equal to a given rate. Simultaneously, the volume is moved along the ditch at such given rate with the closed end thereof preceding the open end thereof and circumferential frictional forces are applied to the cementitious material at the inner surface of such annular volume.

  • Patent number: 3999641
Abstract: A control system for a vehicle includes fluid pressure actuated brakes and a fluid-pressure engaged transmission. A pair of brake pedals is provided, the first actuating the brakes only, and the second actuating the brakes and also operating a valve for releasing transmission pressure upon application of the second brake pedal, and holding transmission pressure upon release of the second brake pedal. Such valve is operated by transmission of movement of the second brake pedal to a movable valving element, with means provided so that for a given movement of the second brake pedal, the valving element moves less, to provide a degree of valve sensitivity. Adjustment means are associated with the second brake pedal and valving element, to synchronize the operation of the brakes with the engagement and disengagement of the transmission.

  • Patent number: 3999462
Abstract: A valve is used in a system employed on a vehicle for effecting the selected automatic disengagement of the transmission or main clutch upon the application of the vehicle service brakes, as well as the reengagement of the transmission when the brakes are released. Such valve allows rapid pressure buildup to the brakes, so that they may be rapidly applied, but delays the release of the brakes to allow ample time for reengagement of the transmission.

  • Patent number: 3999075
Abstract: A control system for a spring-applied service brake which can also be used as a parking brake. Pressure from the vehicle hydraulic system is normally used to release the brakes. In the event of a loss of the primary pressure from the hydraulic system, the control system switches automatically to use of secondary pressure from the vehicle compressed air system to release the brakes, while maintaining the ability of the operator to apply the brakes by normal operation of the service and parking brake controls.

  • Patent number: 3998111
Abstract: A hydraulic system responsive to movement of a shift lever energizes selected pairs of drive engaging devices in a vehicle transmission by applying a gradual rise in pressure to the selected speed drive engaging device and by applying a delayed and a lesser gradual pressure rise to a selected directional drive engaging device. The circuit neutralizes the transmission by blocking fluid pressure from at least one of the devices if the vehicle engine is started with the shift lever at a position other than neutral and also neutralizes the transmission when the vehicle brakes are applied while still maintaining full fluid pressure to other vehicle components. These functions are accomplished by a combination of a pair of selector valves, a pressure modulation valve assembly and a greatly simplified and compact spool differential check and safety valve.

  • Patent number: 3997989
Abstract: Retaining means for an earthworking tip member including a wire spring member bonded into a washer shaped member of resilient material. The means also include a partially cylindrical partially flat surfaced retaining bar member having grooves for receiving portions of the wire spring member within the open central portion of the washer shaped resilient member. The resilient member is received within a recessed portion of an adapter or shank upon which the earthworking tip member is retained. Upon engagement with the grooves in the bar member, the wire spring means and the resilient member tend to rotate the retaining bar to lock the bar member in place from firm retention of the tip member during use. The retention means is also selectively releasable when desired for removal thereof and release of the tip member.
