  • Patent number: 6194699
Abstract: A photoconductive switch comprises a first layer (1) of a first material sandwiches between two contact layers (2,3). The first layer is adapted to be conducting upon applying a voltage across said contact layers when irradiated by light (5) of an energy high enough for lifting charger carriers from the valence band to the conduction band of the first material. A first (2) of the contact layers is provided with apertures (4) for allowing light applied on the switch to reach said first layer there for making the switch conducting upon applying a voltage across the two contact layers. A thin second layer (7) is arranged on the side of the first contact layers, at least covering the surfaces of the first layer exposed through said apertures and forming an interface to said first layer in said apertures. The second layer is made of a material being able to form a well ordered interface to said first material and having the same or a larger band gap than the latter.

  • Patent number: 6194516
Abstract: A method for producing a hydroxyl-terminated (meth) acrylic polymer which comprises converting a halogen atom in a terminal structure of the general formula (1) —CH2—C(R1)(CO2R2)(X)  (1) wherein R1 is hydrogen or methyl, R2 is alkyl containing 1 to 20 carbon atoms, aryl containing 6 to 20 carbon atoms or aralkyl containing 7 to 20 carbon atoms, and X is chlorine, bromine or iodine, of a (meth)acrylic polymer obtained by polymerizing a (meth)acrylic monomer using an organic halide or a halogenated sulfonyl compound as an initiator and, as a catalyst, a metal complex with a central metal selected from the elements belonging to the groups 8, 9, 10 and 11 in the periodic table, into a hydroxyl-containing substituent. The present invention can provide, in an easy and simple manner, a (meth)acrylic polymer which is hydroxyl-terminated at both ends in a high proportion and which has been difficult to produce in the prior art. It can give a cured product with good curing characteristics.

  • Patent number: 6194233
Abstract: A process for designing CMOS integrated circuits which prevents electrostatic charges from damaging a gate of a connected transistor. Once the routing of a metallic conductors for the integrated circuit is defined, a determination is made whether or not a conductor connects to the gate of a transistor and violates an antenna rule. A metallic conductor involved in an identified violation is traced along its length for a location on an adjacent layer which is free of metallic conductors. The metallic conductor is segmented at the location providing a split conductor having spaced apart ends. Subsequent processing of the layer avoids the accumulation of excessive charge on the split conductor. The first and second segments are reconnected during processing of the adjacent metalization layer through via holes connected to the spaced apart segments.

  • Patent number: 6191900
Abstract: A digital signal recording and reproducing apparatus includes a plurality of heads. A digital signal containing an information signal is recorded on a recording medium via heads among the heads while tracks are sequentially formed on the recording medium. The digital signal is reproduced from the recording medium via heads among the heads. A reproduced signal processing circuit operates for processing the reproduced digital signal at a changeable data processing rate to recover the information signal from the reproduced digital signal. During the recording, a speed of the heads, a speed of the recording medium, a data rate of the recording, and a number of used heads are set to changeable values respectively. The digital signal and a mode signal representative of the set values are recorded on the tracks at approximately a predetermined constant recording wavelength.

  • Patent number: 6191726
Abstract: In a procedure for the elimination of interferences of short duration, such as pulses, in a radar unit of the FMCW type, the transmitted and received signals are combined to form a useable signal. According to the procedure, the contribution to the Fourier Transform of the interferences of short duration are filtered out of the Fourier Transform in the frequency domain by an FIR filter with complex coefficients. The procedure requires no additional signal processing between sampling and applying the Fourier Transform, gives very little widening of strong contrasts in the Fourier Transform and is fast and simple to implement in a signal processor.

  • Patent number: 6191628
Abstract: A circuit for selectively controlling the slew rate of a signal on a data line. A capacitor is connected at one end to a common terminal of a power supply and to a switching circuit. The switching circuit advantageously connects the capacitor to the data line in response to a control pulse, capacitively loading the data line so that slew rate is decreased. When the control pulse assumes a different state, the capacitor is connected by the switching circuit to a terminal of a power supply, and acts as a decoupling capacitor. The dual role of the capacitor provides for efficient circuit layout by utilizing one component in two functions.
