Abstract: A portable detachable meditation armrest support including a pair of interconnected armrest supports, a pair of telescoping members, an adjustable sleeve encircling said members for adjusting the overall length forming a monopode, one of the supports having a threaded plug receivable in a hole in the other support forming a flat planar surface, and a threaded shank on the outer telescoping member receivable in the plug.
Abstract: A deep water offshore apparatus for use in oil drilling and production in which an upper buoyant hull of prismatic shape is provided with a passage longitudinally extending through the hull in which risers run down to the sea floor, the bottom of the hull being located at a selected depth dependent upon the wind, wave, and current environment at the well site, which significantly reduces the wave forces acting on the bottom of the hull, a frame structure connected to the hull bottom and extending downwardly and comprising a plurality of vertically arranged bays defined by vertically spaced horizontal water entrapment plates and providing open windows around the periphery of the frame structure, the windows providing transparency to ocean currents and to wave motion in a horizontal direction to reduce drag, the vertical space between the plates corresponding to the width of the bay window, the frame structure being below significant wave action whereby wave action thereat does not contribute to heave motion of
Abstract: A power source, inductor and clamping device coupled to generate substantially sinusoidal drive pulses. The power source has an output capacitance. The inductor is connected to the power source and to the load to be driven. In combination with the inductor, the output capacitance of the power source and the input capacitance of the load to be driven create a resonant circuit which generates a stream of substantially sinusoidal pulses. A clamping device is connected to the inductor and prevents the stream of pulses which are driving the load from exceeding a clamping level. In one preferred embodiment, a complementary set of clamping devices and inductors are used to generate a complementary set of pulse streams.
Abstract: A soft-goods type, custom "in situ" formable knee brace for supporting weakened or injured knees is disclosed having formable components which conform to the unique configuration of an individual's leg surfaces. A flexible femoral component, extending circumferentially around the anterior femur, is pivotally connected with a flexible tibial component extending circumferentially around the anterior tibia. The pivoting hinge assemblies have their axes of rotation oriented along the axis of rotation of the knee joint, and may include condylar component pads. The initially flexible femoral and tibial components are secured to the leg and held in place by adjustable straps, and may be removed or adjusted by releasing or tightening the straps. The knee brace conforms to the leg surfaces through the use of a gas and liquid permeable matrix impregnated with a water-activated urethane polymer comprising, or contained within, each component.
Abstract: A universal AC adaptor has a transformer unit for converting standard AC line voltage to DC voltage and a plurality of plugs. Each plug has a flexible lead coupled to an output cord from the transformer unit at a coupler box. The leads allow the plugs to move independently of one another. Each plug also has a socket having a particular configuration which is different from the sockets of all the other plugs. Each socket is configured to mate with a particular receiving socket of a DC or an AC electrical appliance. The AC adaptor has enough plugs so as to be useable with most of the models of electrical appliance of a particular consumer electronic market, for example, video game units.
Abstract: A bridge device is provided for a stringed musical instrument having a body, a neck extending from the body, and a set of tensioned strings extending along the neck and over at least a portion of the body. The bridge device comprises a bridge plate mounted adjacent a front surface of the body, a plurality of saddles secured to the bridge plate, and a plurality of armatures pivotably secured to the bridge plate. The saddles are individually adjustable to vary the effective length height of each of the strings and to vary the distance between each of the strings from the bridge plate. Each of the armatures individually engage the strings and are selectively manipulable to change the tension of each of the strings between one of three predetermined tension levels.
Abstract: A coil spring including a plurality of coils connected to one another in series. Each of the coils has a front portion and a rear portion. The front portion of at least one of the coils includes a first section disposed at a first predetermined angle relative to a plane perpendicular to the spring centerline and a second section disposed at a second predetermined angle relative to the spring centerline. The coil spring is suitable for use in a variety of applications including, but not limited to, seals.

Abstract: There is provided a new method of improving properties of the surface of an internal combustion engine valve made from titanium alloy, which comprises; the steps of (a) forming a surface undercoat layer of nickel on a surface of the engine valve; (b) heating the resulting nickel undercoated valve in vacuum or in an atmosphere of inert gas, at the temperature of 450.degree. C. to 600.degree. C., for one to four hours; (c) forming further a three component coat layer comprising nickel, phosphorus and particles of material selected from the group consisting of silicone carbide, silicone nitride, boron nitride, and the combination thereof, on the surface of the nickel undercoat layer; and (d) heating the resulting coat layer formed on the nickel undercoat layer, at the temperature of 350.degree. C. to 550.degree. C., for one to four hours, so as to make the particles of ceramic material uniformly and homogeneously dispersed in said coat layer.
Abstract: An electronic combination lock is disclosed which allows access to a closed or secure location wherein the lock includes a locking mechanism for operating between a locked condition and an unlocked condition. A rotatable cam wheel has a circumferential surface portion defining a slot such that rotation of the cam wheel moves the slot. A movable lever is coupled to the locking mechanism for changing the condition of the locking mechanism from the locked condition to the unlocked condition and is pivotably movable into and out of engagement with the cam wheel. The movable lever engages the cam wheel such that rotation of the cam wheel changes the condition of the locking mechanism. A cantilever and detent on the lever releasably maintain the lever in a position disengaged from the cam wheel.

Abstract: A commercial air ventilation system with an improved air distribution and mixing characteristics for use in a commercial kitchen is disclosed herein. The air ventilation system is characterized by a commercial stove top hood which is divided into make-up air and exhaust air sections. The make-up air section is divided into primary make-up air plenum and a secondary make-up air plenum. The secondary make-up air plenum allows air flow into a pre-exhaust chamber through a continuously perforated plate without the need for a screen. Air flows from the pre-exhaust chamber to an exhaust cavity, across a grease filter and out through an exhaust plenum and exhaust conduit in such a manner that the contaminated air is expelled from the kitchen. The make-up air which rushes in to replace this air does so in a moderate and controlled manner so as to avoid the temperature extremes and drafts which otherwise are often prevalent in the kitchens of commercial establishments such as restaurants and hotels.
