Patent number: 4015649Abstract: A plane for use with disposable blades (whose longest dimension is parallel to the cutting edge) has a blade-holding part in which the blade can be released by a quick-release lever from being clamped between a rigid member and a spring-biased sheet metal member, the quick-release lever releasably supporting a bar member which engages a clamping bolt. Depth of cut is controlled by a rotary knob engaging an element intermediate the knob and the blade-holding part to move both the intermediate element and the blade-holding part up and down. Slewing of the lever is achieved by a lever which slides the blade-holding part sideways in its rib-and-groove engagement with the intermediate element.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 1975Date of Patent: April 5, 1977Assignee: Stanley Tools LimitedInventor: Richard Gilbert

Patent number: 4014691Abstract: A highly ductile cobalt-chromium-nickel dental alloy suited for crown and bridge applications which require deformation by hand burnishing in the mouth of a patient, has a controlled high stacking fault energy and a ductility of about 20 percent elongation or more, a yield strength of about 35,000 psi or less and low work hardening characteristics and is free of hardening precipitates resulting from the inclusion of significant amounts of carbon, boron, molybdenum, titanium, aluminum, and tungsten in the alloy. Preferably, the nickel-cobalt ratio in the alloy base ranges from a low of about 1:3, by weight, to prevent the normal transformation of cobalt from a ductile face centered cubic lattice to a hexagonal close pack structure upon cooling to room temperature to a high of 2:1 since higher concentrations of nickel produce CoNi.sub.3.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 1974Date of Patent: March 29, 1977Inventor: M. Patent number: 4001696Abstract: An electronic antenna adapted for concealment in an automobile or similar vehicle is tuned by the RF tuning circuits of a conventional radio receiver. In the preferred embodiment, the antenna is designed for the AM and FM broadcast bands and includes a concealed metal plate which may be suitably mounted at a convenient location on the vehicle such as being embedded in the crash panel. RF signals are received by the metal plate pick-up which is connected to both low frequency and high frequency RF amplifiers which amplify them and, after suitable filtering, provide a highly selective output to the conventional radio receiver. This is due to the fact that when the conventional radio receiver is tuned to a station, it presents a very high impedance load at that frequency thereby causing the low frequency or high frequency RF amplifier of the electronic antenna to amplify that frequency in preference to all others.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 1974Date of Patent: January 4, 1977Inventor: George Louis Bannerman

Patent number: 3994705Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for agglomerating and precipitating suspended matter out of a gas using centrifugal acceleration within a treatment chamber distinguished by an inner cylindrical inlet tube through which the contaminated gas is led in a downward path and an outer circumscribing barrel through which the cleansed gas is led in a spiralling upward path. The inlet tube and barrel are mounted over and relative to a lower water filled reservoir or contaminant collection chamber. The gas exits from the inlet tube through an accelerator in the form of an adjustable venturi throat defined by a shroud arrangement vertically aligned with and spaced from the inlet tube and by which the downward flow direction of the gas is reversed as the gas aspirates water and passes upwardly through and out of the venturi throat and into the passageway defined by the inner inlet tube and the outer barrel.Type: GrantFiled: May 27, 1975Date of Patent: November 30, 1976Inventor: Zygmunt J. Patent number: 3990134Abstract: This invention relates to sheet metal files of the type having a large number of discrete cutting edges projecting from the surface of an elongated strip of thin sheet metal forming the base of the file. In such a file, the depth of the cut by each individual cutting edge is very small and accordingly, the pressure on each cutting edge is small and the base of the file need only have sufficient strength and rigidity to support the edge and apply the necessary small cutting pressure. The cutting edges are formed by partially shearing tabs or teeth from the solid strip forming the base and bending them out of the plane of the base at an acute angle. The ends of the teeth are sharpened and hardened to form the discrete cutting edges having the desired rake and clearance angle.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 1975Date of Patent: November 9, 1976Assignee: The Stanley WorksInventor: Carl Christian Stoutenberg
