Abstract: In a pump valve head for a high-pressure pump having at least three pistons, the axial support of the parts surrounding the inlet valve in the intake connection is hydrostatically enhanced. For this purpose, a fluid flow path is provided between the interior space of the intake connection adjacent the end of the side thereof which faces away from the pump cylinder space, said flow path communicating with an intermediate space between a terminal portion of the inlet valve and a closure member affixed to the intake connection, and a region downstream of the pressure valves of the pump discharge connection. This fluid flow path includes a port in a bushing surrounding the pressure valve as well as annular gaps on the outside periphery of a bushing surrounding the pressure valve, a manifold bushing surrounding a pump plunger and a bushing surrounding the inlet valve.
Abstract: A method for positioning handles on a sachet-type container made from a flexible synthetic material comprises attaching handles to a sleeve of synthetic material while the sleeve is on the mandrel. The sleeves are cut and flap-like corner portions are folded over onto the handles. The handles may be fed from a magazine.
Abstract: A batch pack for silver filings is employed in the preparation of dental amalgam in a laboratory mixing apparatus. The batch pack comprises a foil bag which can be destroyed by the mixing vibration and a briquette or tablet of silver filings. The density of the briquette of silver filings is not more than about 8 gram per cubic centimeters or a pore volume of about 20 percent of the volume of the briquette.
Abstract: A gas jet pump having a housing and a mixing nozzle holder which, in the area of their flange connection, form a mounting for a mixing nozzle. The mounting comprises on the one hand a clamping groove formed by both flanges in their parting plane, and on the other hand an annular groove in the periphery of the mixing nozzle and a ring made of elastic material located in both grooves. This secures both the axial position of the mixing nozzle relative to the housing and also the sealing.
Abstract: A passive flow control valve assembly for controlling the flow of fuel through the fill pipe of an underground fuel storage system is disclosed comprising a valve housing mounted to the discharge end of the fill pipe, a valve assembly for controlling flow through the housing which is mounted for movement between a first open position permitting substantially unrestricted flow through the housing and at least a second position substantially restricting the flow through the housing, an actuator arm assembly for moving the valve between the first and second positions with the actuator arm being interconnected to the valve so as to progressively correspondingly move the valve from the first open position to the second closed position as the actuator arm moves from a first position to a second position, and a float assembly connected to the actuator arm for moving the arm responsive to the liquid level in the storage tank.
Abstract: A rotary cutter assembly employs a wear sleeve to improve the durability of the drill head and to seal off a fluid passageway in the shank of a drill bit which is mounted to the drill head. The shank of the drill bit is releasably secured to the drill head by means of lock pins received in intersecting complementary longitudinally and transversely extending grooves. A lock ring is also employed to axially secure the drill bit to the drill head.
Abstract: A secondary combustion system for a wood burning stove employs an insulated passageway which is configured to substantially increase the turbulence of an exhaust stream passing therethrough. The insulated passageway comprises a generally transversely extending portion and a generally vertically extending portion. The passageway is configured to impart a rotation to the passing exhaust stream in one direction and to successively impart a rotation in the opposite direction. The insulated passageway comprises a plurality of helically extending channels. The passageway is also configured to have an increasing cross-sectional area to insure sufficient residence time for effecting the secondary combustion of the exhaust gases.
Abstract: A customer-ready universal ground clamp is provided for accommodating either grounding electrodes or ground wires of various sizes or diameters. The clamp includes a strap sub-assembly designed to provide full surface inter-engagement with the electrode as well as effective edge contact therewith. It also includes a single bolt sub-assembly having a contoured fixed platen that assures intimate engagement between the strap sub-assembly and the grounding electrode while at the same time avoiding any marring or gouging of the soft copper strap. The new and improved clamp can be installed without the need for special tools.
Abstract: A retractable knife handle employs a blade carrier mounting a blade for longitudinally moving the blade between retracted sheathed and extended unsheathed positions. A leaf spring extends from the blade carrier to engage an inwardly projecting cam surface so that when the blade carrier is shifted to the extended unsheathed position, the blade is clamped between the blade carrier and case.
Abstract: A rotary hand tool of the ratchet type and method for assembling same comprises an elongated wide mouth ratchet housing provided with a shaft rotatably mounted therein having a ratchet mechanism operatively associated therewith and a bushing coaxially mounted on the shaft, which bushing interlocks with the housing for securing the shaft and ratchet mechanism within the housing and aligning and supporting the shaft.
Abstract: An orbital barrel finishing machine employs rotatable drums which are removable from the machine. A coupling member mounting a plurality of angularly spaced axially extending pins engages slots of a second coupling member to provide a rotational drive engagement for the removable drums. The drums are uncoupled from the drive engagement by axially displacing the drums. A releasable latch assembly is employed to secure the drums in the coupled drive position. The orbital barrel finishing machine is employed as a component of an integrated automatic finishing system wherein the rotatable drums may be automatically removed from the machine, unloaded, loaded and returned to the machine.
Abstract: An exercise device for use in dystrophy therapy employs a compression spring which provides an adjustable resistance force. Manual application of a push-type force to a handle actuates a cumulative timer circuit for recording the elapsed time at which an exerted force exceeds a pre-established threshold force. The exercise device may also be converted to a pull mode wherein a pull force exerted between a plate and a handle connecting the exercise device actuates a cumulative timer circuit. The threshold force is adjustable by changing the axial position of the compression spring seat.
Abstract: An improved electrical connector for terminating a low current multi-wire telephone cord of the like is comprised of a one piece dielectric housing having a cord receiving aperture with a plurality of terminal receiving slots extending between the aperture and a first or top exterior surface of the connector. The connector includes a recess operatively associated with the slots and extending from the aperture toward the exterior surface of the connector opposite the first or top exterior surface. Individual terminal blades of simplified configuration are positioned within the slots and have a wire contact portion adapted to pass through the longitudinal plane of the aperture into the recess. As the terminals are pressed into the housing for making electrical contact with the wires of the cord, they engage the wires of the cord and bend the wires out of the plane of the aperture and into the recess while simultaneously providing the requisite electrical contact.
Abstract: An evacuator system employed in an evaporative waste recovery system uses an eductor to create a partial vacuum. The partial vacuum is selectively employed to evacuate concentrate and distillate from an evaporator unit for transferal to respective concentrate and distillate containers. A plurality of air operated valves are automatically operated to transfer concentrate and distillate for reuse in a plating process system.
Abstract: A rotary cutter assembly comprises a drill head having a plurality of receptacles which releasably receive rolling cutter bit assemblies. The bit assemblies are locked in position by a locking sleeve connecting transverse fluid passageways of the drill head and bit assembly. Radially locking means in the form of pins received in complementary slots parallel to the rotational axis of the rotary cutter assembly are also provided.
Abstract: Gas flow laser, in particular a laser through which the gas flows transversely, or through which it flow rapidly in an axial direction, which possesses a main gas circuit embracing the resonator and a circulating pump, together with an auxiliary circuit for continuously bleeding-off, conditioning and reintroducing a partial stream of the gas. The cost of the auxiliary circuit is reduced by connecting it to the main circuit upstream and downstream of the circulating pump, so that the full delivery head by the circulating pump is available for operating the auxiliary circuit. The supply of fresh gas can be introduced independently of the auxiliary circuit.

Abstract: Device for tying an elongate object, a cable bundle for example, having a band to be tensioned round the object and a lock connecting the band ends, which exhibits a passage orifice for at least one band end and a bore oriented transversely thereto, which contains a pin to be driven through the band located in the passage orifice. For better securing of the pin in its closed position, the pin and the bore exhibit, on their side facing the object to be tied, catch edges engaging behind each other in the releasing direction of the pin.
Abstract: An accumulator injector employs a shuttle piston assembly to produce a pilot injection prior to the primary fuel injection of the injector and to control the injection rate. The shuttle piston communicates with the control chamber and the accumulator chamber of the injector to provide a controllable pressure bleed means for controlling the valve needle lift of the injector.
Abstract: A bag made of flexible synthetic material is provided with a removable stiffening element that can serve as both a handle and a stopper element after the bag has been opened.
