Abstract: The present invention is directed to a plate feeder and a method of supplying plates. The plate feeder supplies plates on an as-needed basis and includes a holding structure for holding a plate. A proximity sensor detects whether a plate is held by the holding structure. A control system is connected to the proximity sensor to receive a plate absent signal therefrom. When the control system receives a plate absent signal, the control system commands a pusher to move a plate into an ejection area and then commands a blade with a non-linear front edge to engage a rear edge of the plate and push the plate from the ejection area to the holding structure, where the plate is available for use by a technician.

Abstract: A fixture is provided for supporting a vehicle hub assembly during manufacturing operations that include rotating the assembly. The fixture includes a base with an upper surface, a linearly movable housing slidably supported on the base, an adjustable support block defining two selectable bores, each for slidably receiving a stud from one of two corresponding hub assembly types, and a handle for sliding the housing along the base. An operator checks the type of hub assembly to be worked on and rotates the support block if necessary to select the proper bore. The operator then slides the housing, causing the bore in the support block to slidably engage the stud. Each bore is configured within the support block so as to be accurately aligned with a stud on a corresponding hub assembly when supported in a jig, thus, allowing repeated fixture and hub assembly engagement without any additional adjustments.
Abstract: A briquette meeting required strength that is formed in an energy-saving manner from ferrous metal working scrap, such as grinding chips, and a method of making the briquette are provided. In a briquette formed by applying a pressing pressure to a ferrous metal working scrap, the percentage by weight of grinding chips is in the range of 10 wt % to 35 wt %. Viscous water-containing grinding chips crushed to a desired size and metal working scrap, such as gear cutting chips, are mixed in a feed hopper 7, and a pressing pressure is then applied to the raw mix by use of a compression pressing machine 8 to form a briquette B of ferrous metal working scrap. The content of a grinding fluid of the viscous water-containing grinding chips is 20 wt % to 60 wt %.
Abstract: In electronic balance, an analog computation portion determines at least a differential control signal according to an amount of displacement of a beam. A digital computation portion determines at least an integral control signal is determined by after the amount of displacement of the beam is digital-converted. The control signal component determined by the digital computation portion is analog-converted. Thereafter, a synthetic PID control signal is determined by being synthesized from a resultant signal and the control signal component, which is determined by the analog computation portion. Subsequently, a coil current based on the synthetic PID control signal is passed through the coil. A weight value is obtained according to the control signal component determined by the digital computation portion.
Abstract: An airbag inflator performance test system includes: a cylindrical tank; a disk-shaped piston vertically movably disposed with a gap between the piston and an inner peripheral face of the tank, the gap allowing gas to flow; a piston rod that projects upward from the piston and runs slidably through the tank so as to guide vertical movement of the piston; a lower chamber defined within the tank beneath the piston; an upper chamber defined within the tank above the piston; an inflator disposed in the lower chamber; a pressure sensor for detecting a pressure of the upper chamber; and a piston displacement sensor for detecting a displacement of the piston in order to detect a volume in the upper chamber. After ignition of the inflator, an inflator local work and an inflator total work, which are indexes of the energy of the inflator, are calculated based on the pressure and the volume of the upper chamber.
Abstract: When an instruction by a person in charge is required during an analysis operation, a transmitted e-mail processing unit creates an e-mail that includes, as a message or an attached file, information concerning data to be currently analyzed and an analysis condition, and transmits the e-mail to the e-mail address of the person in charge. The person in charge, at a remote area, employs a locally available PC to read the e-mail, and transmits, to an analysis apparatus, a response e-mail that includes an instruction command. The e-mail is read through a communication controller, and a received case name confirmation unit and a sender verification unit examine the received e-mail to determine whether it is a control e-mail issued by an authorized sender. Thereafter, a command extraction unit extracts a control command from the e-mail. Upon receiving this command, an analysis controller controls the individual sections of an analysis unit.

Abstract: A mapping-measurement apparatus includes a light illumination unit, a photodetector for detecting, through an aperture, reflection light or transmission light from a sample, and adjustable scanning mirrors on the illumination and detection sides of the sample, each mirror having two independent rotational axes about which they can be independently rotated by a controller. The aperture restricts light incident on the photodetector from a predetermined portion of the sample surface.

The supporting device includes, base bodies (410, 510) engaged onto the base table (3) and carrying the guide rail (200), and holding section (440, 530) for holding the guide rail (200) intervening between the guide rail (200) in the state where the guide rail is carried by the base bodies (410, 510). The holding section (440, 530) supports the guide rail (200) in the state where it can move swingingly. A change in the posture or position of the base bodies (410, 510) is offset with a swinging movement by the holding section, and does not affect the guide rail. As a result, excessive force is not applied on the guide rail, so that the form of the guide rail is maintained.
Abstract: Measured values obtained in a measuring machine to be estimated are provided to estimate errors in the measured values. Based on the estimated errors in the measured values, a covariance matrix or correlation matrix of measured values is derived. The covariance matrix or correlation matrix is then subjected to eigenvalue decomposition to derive eigenvalues and eigenvectors. A normal random number with an expected value of 0 and a variance equal to an eigenvalue corresponding to the eigenvalue is generated as a coefficient of coupling for each eigenvector, and all eigenvectors are linearly coupled to generate pseudo-measured values of the measuring machine. The generated pseudo-measured values are subjected to statistic processing to estimate uncertainty of the measuring machine.

Abstract: There is provided a multi-finger hand device which can perform smooth bending and stretching operations of finger mechanisms in holding work of an object or the like while reducing the number of actuators as driving sources of the bending and stretching operations of the finger mechanisms. Wires 29a and 29b, and wires 30a and 30b extending from the finger mechanisms 2b to 2e biased to the stretching side by springs 16 or the like are joined to joining element 32 and 33, respectively. A wire 31 provided extensionally from the finger mechanism 2a is wound onto a pulley 36 and drawn from the base side of the hand 3. The joining elements 32 and 33 are rockably held by a holding element 43 via spindles 44 and 45. The holding element 43 is provided movably and rockably around a spindle 42. The pulley 36 is held by the holding element 43 and moves together with the holding element 43. By pulling the wire 31, the bending operations of the finger mechanisms 2a to 2e are performed collectively.
Abstract: A fastening structure is provided which mounts a spoiler between a front bumper face and an under cover. The front bumper face has a lower end portion disposed in overlapping relation to a front end part of the under cover such that the lower end portion of the front bumper face is located below the front end part of the under cover. Downwardly projecting spacer portions are formed on an under surface of the front end part. When the lower end portion of the front bumper face and the front end part of the under cover overlap each other, the lower end portion of the front bumper face and the front end part of the under cover are spaced from each other by the spacer portions to define a clearance therebetween. The spoiler has a mounting portion retained in the clearance.
Abstract: A vehicle body frame structure includes a side sill and a rear frame continuously joined, with a curved portion formed in the vicinity of a boundary between the side sill and the rear frame. In the curved portion, a continuous change is achieved extending from the side sill side to the rear frame side from a side sill side closed cross-sectional structure portion where a first stiffener is provided to a rear frame side closed cross-sectional structure portion where a second stiffener is provided having a different direction of alignment from that of the first stiffener. An improvement is obtained in the strength of a curved portion in the vicinity of a boundary between a side sill and a rear frame when these are joined together so as to be continuous with each other.

Abstract: A multi-function heat exchanger for use with a dispensing gun for dispensing hybrid plastisol hot melt material, the heat exchanger having an elongated tubular high temperature heater assembly having a front end hydraulically connected to an inlet port of a dispensing gun and a rear end connected to a heat dissipating assembly which in turn is connected to the outlet end of a supply hose for providing hybrid plastisol material which is liquid at room temperature and under sufficient hydraulic pressure to move the plastisol material through the heat dissipating assembly and the high temperature heater assembly into the dispensing gun when the gun is operated. The heater assembly has a heat source providing sufficient heat to turn the plastisol into a molten liquid as it passes into the dispensing gun. The heat dissipating assembly prevents heat from the high temperature heater assembly from migrating back into the plastisol supply hose.

Abstract: A device and a method that permit easy and accurate determination of a walking condition regardless of differences in foot landing points on soles or lengths of legs of a walker are provided. According to this device, a measuring device measures a parameter indicating a displacement amount of a bottom end portion of a leg of the walker. A first storage device stores patterns of plots in a determination space corresponding to parameters and walking conditions of the walker such that they are associated with each other. Furthermore, a generating device generates plots defined in the determination space by parameters measured by the measuring device. Then, a determining device determines walking conditions of the walker on the basis of the patterns of the plots stored in conjunction with the walking conditions by the first storage device and the patterns of the plots generated by the generating device.
