  • Patent number: 5901856
Abstract: A device for separating office paper and computer printout from cardboard waste material is provided. The device has two decks, each of which has multiple driving and separating disc rotors. Non-cardboard paper can fall between the disc rotors as the paper flows through the machine. A single counter-rotational disc rotor is provided which inverts cardboard and empties boxes. The drive for each deck of the device is independent and variable speed, allowing for quick reconfiguration between input streams.

  • Patent number: 5854425
Abstract: A method for compensating for the time constant (delay time) of hot-wire/hot-film in a constant voltage anemometer is provided. The method is a two-part series of steps, the first series for measuring the time constant in a particular wind tunnel setup and a second series for compensating for the measured time constant. The first series or measuring steps include setting up a hot-wire/hot film for a particular test at a specific operating point. A step increase in sensor current is applied and the resistance change of the sensor is measured. The time to reach 63% of the final resistance value is recorded. (The time constant is defined as the time to reach 63% of the resistance value). The measured time constant value is used to match the time constant in the CVA circuit.

  • Patent number: 5676508
Abstract: A tie-down device for use with trucks, boats or other vehicles is provided. The tie-down is a single-piece dual-hook device having a pedestal base and an upper attachment section. The base has a threaded hole in the bottom for receiving a bolt or threaded device to a vehicle. The upper attachment section is formed in the general shape of an isosceles having an apex with legs extending downward at an approximate angle of 45.degree. below the horizontal. The outer surface of apex is rounded to avoid snagging. The attachment section has a large bore hole centered under the apex and a pair of hooks in each leg. The tie-down device allows a variety of tie-downs including threading of a line through the bore hole, attaching to the leg hooks, and cleating by winding between hooks, while providing a non-snagging outer form.

  • Patent number: 5647225
Abstract: A multi-mode high efficiency air conditioning system for storing energy and for utilizing the stored energy is provided. The air conditioning system includes these four elements which define the entire system: a condensing unit, a dual-mode indoor cooling coil assembly, a refrigerant and air management assembly and an energy storage assembly. These four elements act in concert to perform the functions of the four principal modes of operation which are ice building, ice transfer, stage 1 cooling and stage 2 cooling. The ice building and ice transfer modes typically take place during electrical off-peak periods. The stage 1 and stage 2 cooling modes typically take place during electrical on-peak periods. When connected to an indoor air fan, the air conditioning unit provides cooling at an energy efficiency ratio (EER) of 12 or better over a 24 hour period during a 95 degree Fahrenheit day.
