  • Patent number: 4368519
Abstract: Energy utilized or consumed at a given location or facility causes pulses to be generated as a function of the instant rate of energy use, and such pulses are counted during succeeding discrete time intervals. The succeeding interval summation count values are recorded in digital form at respective discrete locations in a memory, particularly on an ultraviolet (UV) light-erasable PROM (EPROM) contained in a removable cartridge having a UV substantially opaque case. The interval summation count values are summed to provide a grand total energy or power utilization or consumption figure which is fed into and stored at a discrete location in the EPROM memory at the end of the recording period.

  • Patent number: 4267764
Abstract: A cartridge chamber housing and a breech block for a cartridge with side-mounted primer, in which the chamber housing has a firing pin and a spring-biased slidable firing pin interrupter which is in firing-prevent position and prevents firing pin actuation except when the breech block is closed and locked, and which is moved to firing-enable position by the closure and locking of the breech block, whereby the firing pin may be actuated after such closure and locking of the breech block. The cartridge is fully chambered and extracted by and as a function of closure and opening of the breech block.

  • Patent number: 4253239
Abstract: A hand-held portable length probe having a length measuring wheel and a tracing unit disposed adjacent the measuring wheel, the tracing unit being slidably carried by the probe housing and acting to actuate a switch secured in fixed relation on the probe housing. The switch is illustrated as a miniature snap action switch, actuated by the slidable tracing unit either directly or indirectly through an intermediate adjustable spring lever arm; and is also illustrated as a magnetically actuated switch in the form of a reed switch which is actuated by a permanent magnet carried by the sliding tracing unit. The wheel is carried in a removable nose element which serves to aid in anchoring the tracing unit housing to the length probe main housing. The switch is carried, in the illustrative examples, by a retention clip.

  • Patent number: 4238826
Abstract: Method and apparatus for generating image-forming envelope and other wave forms for image display of an area or an object whose image is desired to be simulated. The image-forming envelope wave forms for complex objects and complex area silhouettes are formed as composites of component areas forming the silhouette outline to be imaged in signal form and displayed. Object attitude variations, range variations, and observer-to-object geometry is accommodated.

  • Patent number: 4162645
Abstract: A method of making a cartridge, in particular a blank or propellant gas cartridge which has a casing of generally tubular form with a telescopically reverse in-folded star-crimp-closed integral tubular end section, and within which is contained a blank propellant powder charge, with a readily rupturable wad of low heat conductivity initial restraining mass formed between the propellant powder charge and the in-folded telescoping star-crimp-closed end of the casing, in which method the cartridge is formed by front loading a propellant charge and the low-heat-conductivity wad, and then star-crimping and telescopically reverse in-rolling the cartridge casing, after which the recessed in-rolled star-crimped casing is heat sealed.

  • Patent number: 4159070
Abstract: An impact nailing arrangement having a nail with integral pointed target-penetration and securing forward section, rear hammer section, and medial compression shear section, the forward section having a threaded object-securing surface rearwardly of its pointed forward target-securing end. The nail is propelled into a target in the preferred embodiment by any one of several illustrated latent energy means, and the forward section is secured by initial point penetration and subsequent compression shear of the medial shear section to enable the hammer section to impart a secondary securing impact to the forward section. Various alternative propulsion arrangements including electrical actuation of a powder charge, spring actuation, and valved pressurized gas, are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4147216
Abstract: A penetrator/nozzle arrangement, particularly for enabling fighting of fires in aircraft and other difficult access target units, in which the penetrator/nozzle arrangement has a telescopic nozzle formed by a spray nozzle tube section telescopically slidable on a concentric feed tube, with a cylindrical cutter mounted for sliding movement about the nozzle and toward a target unit. A cartridge is fired to drive the cutter toward the forward spray end of the nozzle, thereby cutting the effective skin of a target and enabling the nozzle to be moved therethrough with its forward spray discharge end extending into the target interior zone for passage of fluid, powder or other desired agent through the nozzle into the target interior.
