Abstract: A mounting clip is designed to assist positioning and mounting of a first siding board to a wall overlapping a portion of a second siding board. The mounting clip includes a hanger which hangs the mounting clip on the second siding board. The mounting clip also includes a shelf. The shelf positions the first siding board such that the first siding board overlaps the second siding board. The mounting clip allows a single installer to accurately and efficiently install siding boards. The base of the mounting clips can be used as a guide to identify the portion of the siding board that can be nailed to the wall because the clip identifies the area that is going to be covered by the next siding board. An air gap between the wall and the siding boards is created by the mounting clip and prevents moisture from being trapped therebetween.
Abstract: A tamper-indicating child-resistant package includes a container having a finish with an open mouth and an external circumferential bead spaced from the mouth. A closure has a skirt for externally encircling the container finish, a tamper band frangibly connected to the skirt for positioning beneath the external circumferential bead on the container finish, and a spring element for engaging the finish and biasing the closure away from the finish. The finish and the skirt have interlocking elements that resist removal of the closure from the finish absent force against the spring element to disengage the interlocking elements. Engagement of the tamper band with the external circumferential bead ruptures the frangible connection of the band to the skirt upon first removal of the closure from the container finish to indicate potential tampering with the package.

In the package or a portion thereof, a marker material is dispersed into a base material and can be detected in the aftermarket by absorption spectroscopy to establish the authenticity of a product contained in the package.
Abstract: A light guide assembly includes a base and a light source that are removably secured to the base. The light source is oriented to emit light out and away from the base. A light distributor is spaced apart from the light source and distributes the light across the light guide assembly. The light distributor includes a primary reflection surface with a plurality of transmission elements extending out from the primary reflection surface therealong to allow a portion of the light to pass through the transmission elements of the primary reflection surface without being reflected by the primary reflection surface. This facilitates the creation of a uniform beam of light being emitted by the light guide assembly.
Abstract: A compression molding machine, for compression molding a closure shell having a base wall with an opening and in accordance with one aspect of the disclosure, includes a male mold section and a female mold section having associated surfaces that oppose each other to form a cavity for compression molding the base wall of the closure shell. An annular bead on one of these surfaces cooperates with the opposing other surface to compression mold a disk connected to the base wall by a thin frangible web. The disk and the shell are stripped separately from the mold so that the shell emerges from the machine with the opening formed in the shell base wall by removal of the disk within the machine.

Abstract: A scavenging carburetor having an improved relationship between scavenging air flow and fuel-and-air flow to an engine over its range of operating conditions. The carburetor has a butterfly throttle valve and a plug-type scavenging valve. Levers are attached to support shafts of the valves and are connected to each other by a connecting rod so as to synchronize movement of the valves. Because of the different opening angle versus open area properties of the two valves, the supply of the scavenging air is minimized over a low speed range of the engine so as to achieve a stable low speed operation and a stable acceleration from idle conditions and a relatively large amount of scavenging air is supplied over a high speed range of the engine for the given amount of fuel-and-air mixture that is supplied. Therefore, the fuel-and-air mixture supply and scavenging air supply is better matched to the requirements of a particular engine than was possible with conventional combinations of valves.
Abstract: A combustion engine carburetor has a control valve assembly that generally controls flow through a fuel-and-air mixing passage extending through a body of the carburetor. The control valve assembly has at least one valve preferably of a butterfly-type having a shaft that extends transversely across the fuel-and-air mixing passage and journaled for rotation in the body about a rotation axis. The shaft has opposite trailing and leading end portions that project from generally opposing sides of the carburetor body. Axial movement of the shaft with respect to the body is limited by an axial retention feature that preferably has a radially enlarged end cap formed unitarily to the trailing end portion and a coupler snap fitted to the leading end portion.
Abstract: A diffuser (24) for an annealing furnace has a plurality of radially extending generally and vertically oriented vanes (40) for radially directing furnace gases. The vanes have top edges (42) defining a generally planar support and the top edges of the vanes have a notch (38) therein for receiving a conduit (34) preferably ring shaped that extend substantially around a center portion of the diffuser plate. The conduit (34) is connected to an inlet (32) for receiving enriching gases and exit ports (50) circumferentially space about said conduit (34) passing the enriching gases into the diffuser (24) to be mixed with ambient furnace gases.
Abstract: A closure for dispensing product from a container having a film seal across the mouth of the container finish includes a base having a deck that is adapted to overlie the film seal on the container finish and a dispensing opening in the deck. A lid is secured by a hinge to an edge of the base for overlying the deck. A spud is aligned with the dispensing opening and secured to the cover by one or more frangible elements. The spud is adapted, after rupture of the frangible elements, to move into the dispensing opening in the deck either directly or through an intervening spout, to pierce the film seal, and thereafter to function as a plug seal when the lid is closed.
Abstract: Methods and fuel systems to reduce evaporative emissions of a volatile fuel. A fuel tank contains fuel, a carburetor mixes air with the fuel from the fuel tank, and a plurality of fluid paths route fuel amongst and/or between the fuel tank and the carburetor. A valve actuation device stops flow of fuel in one or more of the plurality of fluid paths and the carburetor is adapted to be drained of fuel during engine shutdown to reduce or prevent evaporative emissions from the fuel system. The carburetor is preferably designed so as to minimize a volume of fuel contained therein.
Abstract: A system of transport carts are positioned in side by side relation in fore and aft extending spaced apart rows disposed along a delivery van to leave an aisle between them. The carts have wheel supported upright frames with bottom supports for the products disposed at a level above the floor of the van and open fronts with front decks movable from a stowed retracted position to a generally horizontal operative position adjacent the bottom supports. The decks are movable into generally abutting relation to form a raised false floor between the rows of carts on which hand trucks can travel.
Abstract: Modular X-ray tube (10) and method for the production of such an X-ray tube, in which an anode (20) and a cathode (30) are arranged in a vacuumized inner space (40) situated opposite each other, electrons (e?) being produced at the cathode (30) and X-rays (y) at the anode (20). The X-ray tube (10) according to the invention comprises a multiplicity of acceleration modules (41, . . . , 45), complementing one another, and each acceleration module (41, . . . , 45) comprises at least one potential-carrying acceleration electrode (20/30/423/433/443). A first acceleration module (41) thereby comprises the cathode (30), a second acceleration module (45) the anode (20). The X-ray tube (10) further comprises at least one other acceleration module (42, . . . , 44). In particular, the X-ray tube according to the invention can possess a re-closeable vacuum valve, enabling individual defective parts of the tube (10) to be replaced in a simple manner or enabling the tube (10) to be modified in a modular way.
Abstract: A locking hinge assembly (32) has first and second hinge members (38, 40) having a respective hinge section (50, 51), proximate wall (46, 47) and mounting flange section (42, 43) for mounting on respective first and second panels (24, 26). The first and second hinge members are pivotably connected together at the hinge sections and are pivotably movable between a first position and a second position. The mounting flange section (42) has a channel (54) extending along the proximate wall section (48) for slidably receiving a locking member (56). The locking member (56) has at least one locking flange (60) extending through aligned apertures in the proximate walls. The locking flange has a hook section (62) at a distal end such that when the locking member slides to a locking position, the hook section engages a proximate wall to lock the hinge members in the first position.
Abstract: A scuba tank caddy that includes a vertically-extending frame, a base assembly connected to the frame, and an axle assembly having an axle, a pair of spaced wheels mounted on the axle, and a pair of connecting arms pivotally interconnecting the axle to the base assembly. The frame has a plurality of slots formed in the frame at its lower end, and the axle assembly is adjustably connected to the frame via the slots such that the axle and wheels can be adjusted between several operational positions to accommodate different types of terrain. The axle and wheel can also be switched to a stowed position in which the wheels are positioned upwardly against the tank so that the caddy can remain on the tank during a dive.

The pottery tool has a plurality of forming surfaces and edges for smoothing, shaping or scraping a softened clay body for forming the pottery article.
Abstract: A pipe coupler for use in connecting a pair of automotive exhaust pipe ends each having a circumferential rib. The pipe coupler includes a ribbed band and internal split sealing sleeve along with a tightening mechanism for clamping the band and sleeve over the pipe ends. The sealing sleeve fits within the band and both the sleeve and band have a pair of ribs positioned to fit over the ribs on the pipe ends. The sleeve extends circumferentially from a first end to a second end, and includes a tongue-and-groove sealing configuration located axially inwardly of the ribs at the first and second ends. Each tongue has a particular construction that accommodates larger clamp opening dimensions required to fit the coupler over the pipe ribs during assembly. The sleeve can include inwardly protruding sealing beads that help prevent leakage of exhaust gases from the pipe junction.

Abstract: A fuel level measurement device has a fuel level sensor carried by a fuel level float at the distal end of a pivoting float arm of the device which is preferably part of a fuel pump module located inside of a fuel tank preferably for automotive applications. Preferably a sealed arcuate chamber of the float is defined between an electrically conductive cover and a variable electric resistor which preferably is a generally non-conductive ceramic substrate that carries an electrically resistive ink strip. A track exposed in the arcuate chamber has a concave shape that generally faces upward so that a rolling member changes position due to the forces of gravity within the chamber as the float arm pivots generally up and down with changing fuel levels in the tank. The rolling member is electrically conductive and completes the circuit between the electrically conductive cover and the variable resistive ink strip.
Abstract: Filtration method and device for filtering solid contaminants from a stream of a flowing fluid such as internal combustion engine intake air. An imperforate housing has a tubular inlet exiting at its downstream end into a conically divergent first wall section terminating in a maximum diameter apex. A convergent second wall section terminates at a housing outlet opening of greater diameter than that of the housing inlet. A perforate filter element disposed within the housing conical portions has an exterior configuration generally complimental to the housing interior, and thus has a first generally conical divergent section, and a second generally conical downstream section convergent from a maximum diameter apex of the filter element and defining the filter device outlet. The housing and filter element define therebetween first and second frustoconical annular fluid flow chambers of successively diminishing cross-sectional radial thickness in the direction of downstream fluid flow.
