  • Patent number: 4911591
Abstract: An improved fastener and method of attachment to sheet material providing attachment of a tubular fastener to sheet material by extruding, without severing, portions of the sheet material completely through openings on the base portion of the fastener. The extruded material is clinched on the top surface of the base portion by clinch members integrally formed with the base portion. The fastener is internally threaded, lightweight and preferably heat-treated prior to attachment to the sheet material to provide fastener strength equivalent to or greater than that of much heavier nuts. Two types of such fasteners may be attached by a method which opens up a hole in the sheet material of a larger diameter than the major diameter of the threads in the fasteners while simultaneously clinching the fastener in place. This eliminates the need to use thread-cutting bolts. The fasteners may be connected together to form a strip to be fed into an automated assembly unit from a dispenser.

  • Patent number: 4799849
Abstract: A motorized lifting device for loading and unloading articles from automobile trunks has a floor frame acting as a base for a pair of upstanding platform supports each of which has a flange. A carriage having a plurality of rollers is reciprocally mounted on each upstanding platform support such that at least two spaced apart rollers are on one side of the flange and at least one roller is on the other side of the flange. The flange, therefore, acts as a guide for the carriages when moving along the upstanding platform support. A platform frame is attached to the carriages and a platform rests on the platform frame. Lifting is achieved through means of a cable attached to each carriage, strung over a pulley on each upstanding platform support that is then wound onto a spool rod mounted to the upstanding platform supports. The spool rod is rotated by means of an electric motor powered by electricity from the automobile.

  • Patent number: 4374871
Abstract: During the axial shirring of tubular casings into shirred strands while the material is inflated with air under overpressure, oil is intermittently injected without propellant air against the inside of the casing, so as to lubricate the inner wall of the casing. This eliminates the need for the costly construction required to provide for the discharge of excess air and oil needed with the known continuous oil injection through two-component nozzle with propellant air, and at the same time it insures a more uniform distribution of oil with reduced oil consumption. The injection nozzle is a single compound nozzle which is connected via electromagnetic valves to a conventional injection pump.

  • Patent number: 4204390
Abstract: The invention relates to a harvesting machine. A harvesting machine is disclosed in which a tunnel defining member is supported on a mobile structure such that when the mobile structure is moved through the vineyard, the tunnel defining member passes over a row of vine stocks. Mounted within each tunnel defining member are a plurality of thresher members, or beaters, which have extending vertically spaced flexible bush engaging rods. These rods selectively engage the vines in a directed motion to harvest the fruit from the fruit bearing stocks. Means, in the form of a transversely oscillating flexible lateral deflecting lining, are used to direct the harvested fruit in a predetermined direction. Selective placement of the thresher members results in separation of said harvested crop according to the aging of the crop.
