Patent number: 8348101Abstract: A locking dispenser to dispense material from a replaceable refill container maintains a lock assembly having a plurality of spring-biased plungers configured in accordance with a predetermined lock parameter. The refill container carries a collar that includes a plurality of markers configured in accordance with a predetermined key parameter. Thus, when a refill container having a key parameter that is compatible with the lock parameter of the key block is installed at the dispenser, the plungers transition from a locked state to an unlocked state to enable the movement of an actuator, which when depressed by a user, results in the dispensement of material from the refill container.Type: GrantFiled: April 2, 2009Date of Patent: January 8, 2013Assignee: GOJO Industries, Inc.Inventors: Nick E. Patent number: 8350706Abstract: A hygiene compliance monitoring system provides a dispenser that is associated with a data collection unit that collects dispensing events, such as the dispensement of material from the dispenser, which occurs during time segments of a predetermined duration. The hygiene event monitoring system also includes a portable data acquisition unit that is in wireless communication with the data collection unit of the dispenser. As such, when the data acquisition unit is brought within the range of reception of the data collection unit, the hygiene compliance data and time segment information are transmitted to the data acquisition unit and stored at a portable memory unit, which is removable. As such, the hygiene compliance data stored on the portable memory unit can be readily transferred to any desired computing device for analysis and report generation.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2009Date of Patent: January 8, 2013Assignee: GOJO Industries, Inc.Inventors: Jackson W. Patent number: 8337742Abstract: The invention relates to a novel method for electrospinning fibers wherein the fiber-spinning solution is infused with gas bubbles which travel through the electrospinning fluid, causing the bubbles to be coated with electrospinning solution. The coated bubbles, in turn, in response to an applied electrical force, generate jets of the electrospinning fluid that travel away from the bubble surface. The invention further relates to the fibers formed by this bubble-jet process and to products made therefrom.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 2008Date of Patent: December 25, 2012Assignee: The University of AkronInventors: Jakapon Sunthornvarabhas, Darrell H. Patent number: 8339518Abstract: Low frequency components are extracted from a video signal for pixels in a specific area of an image carried by the signal. The low frequency components are allocated, based on luminance components of the signal, to gradations ranging from maximum to minimum levels exhibited by the luminance components, luminance histogram data being produced indicating the frequency of gradations for the pixels. The gradations are allocated to the pixels based on the luminance components to produce high-frequency component histogram data indicating the frequency of gradations for specific pixels each carrying a high frequency component. The luminance histogram data is corrected in accordance with the frequency of gradations in the high-frequency component histogram data to produce corrected luminance histogram data. A gradation correction curve is produced for correcting the gradations exhibited by the signal using the corrected data. The luminance components are corrected based on the correction curve.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 2010Date of Patent: December 25, 2012Assignee: JVC Kenwood CorporationInventors: Shingo Kida, Kenji Kubota
