  • Patent number: 5048075
Abstract: A system D interfaces with a multiplicity of individual terminals T1-Tn of a telephone network facility C, at the terminals callers are prompted by voice-generated instructions to provide digital data that is identified for positive association with a caller and is stored for processing. The caller's identification data is confirmed using various techniques and callers may be ranked and accounted for on the basis of entitlement, sequence or demographics. Callers are assigned random designations that are stored along with statistical and identification data. A break-off control circuit may terminate the computer interface aborting to a terminal for direct communication with an operator. Real-time operation processing is an alternative to stored data. The accumulation of stored data (statistical, calling order sequence, etc.) is variously processed and correlated as with developed or established data to isolate a select group or subset of callers who can be readily identified and reliably confirmed.

  • Patent number: 5044199
Abstract: A flowmeter has an elongated housing with a fluid inlet, a fluid outlet and an axial passage therebetween. The fluid passage contains a flow splitter section and is connected to a flow sensor assembly. The flow splitter section is formed by a surface defining a longitudinal fluid path and a flow splitter secured in the fluid path, so as to form an annular gap between the surface of the fluid path and the flow splitter. The surface of the fluid path defines a tapered calibration bore. The flow splitter has a tapered calibration section comprising the upstream portion of the flow splitter and at least one tapered expansion section comprising the downstream portion of the flow splitter. The taper of the calibration section is substantially parallel to the taper of the calibration bore, and the taper of the expansion section diverges away from the taper of the calibration bore.

  • Patent number: 5035264
Abstract: A direct drive servovalve having a stator and rotor mounted upon a housing within which a spool valve is reciprocally disposed for engagement with the rotor and movement thereby in response to the application of appropriate electrical signals. The stator assembly is adjustable and after appropriate adjustment there is provided a retainer means secured to the closed end of an isolation tube for clamping the stator assembly in place relative to the rotor assembly of the moored motor. The clamping assembly includes an annular member having a downwardly depending skirt which engages the stator. The annular member is held in place by a retainer ring threadably secured to the outer surface of the isolation tube or alternatively behind fasteners which are threadably received by the closed end of the isolation tube. A separate non load bearing housing cover is positioned over the motor.

  • Patent number: 5031653
Abstract: Pressure gain compensation for a single-stage servovalve of the jet pipe type. The pressure gain compensation is provided by a separate reciprocally mounted spool having a feedback wire connected between the spool and the ejector jet. The spool has a differential pressure applied across the ends thereof from the receptors disposed opposed the ejector jet. Movement of the spool applies a force feedback to the ejector jet which is proportional to the pressure differential across the receptors and is opposite the force applied to the ejector by the torque motor to thereby compensate for pressure gain.

  • Patent number: 5031361
Abstract: A disposable finishing article for mounting on a rotatable threaded spindle of a power tool. The finishing article contains a retaining nut on one side and a backing member on the other side non-removably secured together on the finishing article without the aid of adhesives in such a manner that the finishing article is placed in compression when it is operably secured upon the spindle of the power tool under operative loads. The backing member includes an inner annular portion defining a platform surrounding the nut and having one surface resting upon the other side of the finishing article. The nut and backing member are secured together by upsetting one end of the nut causing it to protrude outwardly over the outer surface of the flange. A metal pressure cap is secured to the backing member for engaging a shoulder formed on the spindle of the power tool during operation of the finishing article.

  • Patent number: 5029371
Abstract: A locking device having two sets of pairs of aligned clamping teeth, each set holding one lace end of an elastic lace. Each pair of aligned clamping teeth has a lace insertion portion for snapping an elastic lace laterally through it into a lace holding portion. Last pairs of aligned clamping teeth are dimensioned to hold the elastic lace tighter than the remaining pairs. A pair of cleats may be used to clasp a shoe lace as it comes out of a shoe eyelet so that any further tensioning of the lace will not affect the tightness of the shoe. A shoe hook may also be placed on the back of the locking device.

  • Patent number: 5023923
Abstract: A document to be verified or tested as a possible counterfeit is scanned by a system that optically senses a specific target area or aperture on the document. This area may include material deposited on the document or may be simply the document material. A reference grid is imprinted on the document to locate the same target area to be sensed each time the document is scanned, independent of the transport used to do the scanning. The reference grid is used to locate the target area both vertically and horizontally and signals sensed from the target area are combined to a representative composite.

  • Patent number: 5017149
Abstract: A two-piece connector having a header, a receptacle, a first group of contacts incorporated in the header, and a second group of contacts incorporated in the receptacle. The header can be inserted into the receptacle. When the receptacle is inserted into the header, the contacts of the first group are electrically connected to those of the second group. Lock lever engaging bodies are formed on both sides of the header. Lock levers are provided on both sides of the receptacle. Each lock lever has a lift pawl and a lock pawl. These pawls can engage with the upper and lower surfaces of the lock lever engaging body corresponding to the lock lever. They are arranged such that the lock lever engaging body is located between them when the receptacle is inserted in the header. The header and the receptacle are designed so that no surface contacts occur between the lock levers and the lock lever engaging bodies once the header has been inserted into the receptacle, with the lock pawls set in a closed state.
