Patent number: 4826496Abstract: An ostomy device for releasably connecting an ostomy bag to an adhesive backed label including a mounting member for connecting one of two coupling parts to the label. The mounting member comprises an expandable portion for facilitating displacement of the connected coupling part between a normal position and an expanded position. The expanded portion comprises a pair of accordion-like folds including an inner fold and a smaller outer fold. The connected coupling part comprises a rib portion having a deflectible sealing strip extending therefrom. The rib portion is connected to the mounting member adjacent the outer folds such that the sealing strip is positioned intermediate the inner and outer folds when the coupling part is in the normal position. Patent number: 4801297Abstract: The present catheter employee a series of axial slits adjacent to its tip. The slits act to increase the flexibility of the catheter adjacent the tip thereby providing pressure relief in the event of blockage of the lumen at the tip. In addition, by forming the slits as slots, i.e. by removing material from the slits, it is possible to provide a catheter having flow through the sides adjacent to the tip for any desired purpose.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 1984Date of Patent: January 31, 1989Assignee: Edward Weck IncorporatedInventor: Richard L. Patent number: 4795439Abstract: An improved multi-lumen catheter having lumens which do not extend in a straight line down the length of the catheter is disclosed. The twisting of the catheter provides that side holes which extend into the lumens of the catheter are not aligned in a straight line. Accordingly, when the catheter is inserted into a patient's vessel, the side holes cannot be aligned in a manner which causes all of the side holes of a particular lumen to be occluded by the wall of the patient's vessel.A catheter of the type disclosed can be manufactured by an extrusion process in which the catheter is twisted during the extrusion, or by heating a non-twisted catheter and then twisting it in order to impart an appropriate twist therein.Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 1988Date of Patent: January 3, 1989Assignee: Edward Weck IncorporatedInventor: Robert L. Guest

Patent number: 4767409Abstract: The catheter protective shield is used to protect a flow directed catheter of the type used in the measurement of central venous pressure and pulmonary wedge pressure. The cathetershield assembly includes front and rear hubs sized to permit movement of the catheter therethrough and an external support tube for interconnecting the front and rear hubs. A flexible protective sleeve interconnects the two hubs. The protective sleeve is substantially longer than the external support tube and is collapsible to permit interconnection of the hubs by the external support tube and may be extended to shield a substantial length of catheter.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 1983Date of Patent: August 30, 1988Assignee: Edward Weck IncorporatedInventor: Frederick C. Patent number: 4747829Abstract: A pre-filled syringe is provided with a retractile needle. The needle end of a syringe is enclosed in a sterile chamber within a casing sealed by a cap with a break-off tip. The barrel of the syringe is movable within the casing from a remote pre-injection position to a forward injection position and back again. When the barrel is moved forward a first end of the needle passes through the opening of the cap and then the opposite end comes in contact with the injectant. When the barrel is withdrawn to a pre-injection position, the needle is retracted within the casing and is prevented from re-entering the opening in the cap.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 1987Date of Patent: May 31, 1988Assignee: E. Patent number: 4703372Abstract: A portable recorder has a pinch roller moved to engage a capstan, a recording head brought into a recording position and a motor to power the recorder switched on through the sliding movement of a slide assembly in engagement with the case of the recorder near a hinge between bottom and top portions of the case. The capstan is rotated about an axis substantially perpendicular to the plane of the case by a pulley arrangement driven by the motor with an axis substantially within a plane parallel to the case. The recording head is mounted to the slide assembly which includes a roller attached to the back thereof for rotating engagement with the case when it is opened and closed. Rotating movement of the roller causes the slide assembly to move back and forth within the case as the top of the case is opened and closed causing the recording head to move near or away from the tape. A spring mounted to the case and the slide assembly biases the slide assembly to a remote position when the case is opened.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 1985Date of Patent: October 27, 1987Assignee: Spacelabs, Inc.Inventors: Herman G.
