  • Patent number: 6240980
Abstract: A bag filling process and machine wherein material to be bagged is force fed into a tunnel from an end and wherein the material is compacted and fed through the tunnel and out the opposite end which opens into a bag surrounding the tunnel. To avoid compacting and filling of the bag from the bottom up, a ramp in the bottom of the tunnel directs the flow of material to a mid-height position to promote compacting and filling of the bag from the mid-point position both downwardly and upwardly from the ramp end.

  • Patent number: 6234289
Abstract: An annular actuator for moving a member axially to couple and un couple a drive member with a driven member of a vehicle drive train. The actuator encircles the drive and driven member. The actuator has a housing to which a diaphragm is mounted. A spring biases the diaphragm to move in one axial direction and withdrawal of air forces the diaphragm to move in the opposite axial direction. A shifting fork coupled to the diaphragm moves a clutch ring in the one axial direction to be coupled with only one of the drive and driven members and is coupled with both the drive and driven members when moved in the opposite direction. The actuator defines a sealed chamber that is totally non-rotatable with relative movement occurring between the shifting fork and the clutch ring.

  • Patent number: 6202389
Abstract: A bagging machine for bagging material in an elongate bag. An anchor connected to a cable extends from the machine and resides in the material being placed in the bag. The anchor may be extended different distances from the machine to provide a varying restricting force to restrict the movement of the machine away from the bag being filled. Powered reels are provided to reel in cable or play out cable to vary the distance between the anchor and machine.

  • Patent number: 6202526
Abstract: A shape sawing system for sawing lumber pieces from a curved cant. The cant is scanned by scanners and the scan data is input to a computer. The computer determines a curved path for the saw to follow in sawing the cant into lumber pieces. The saw is laterally and pivotally adjustable to follow the determined path established by the computer. The saw is a plurality of circular saw blades having a defined cutting edge portion that is inclined from a leading point at the bottom of the cant to a trailing point at the top of the cant. The point of pivot of the saws is between the leading point and the trailing point of the cutting edge portion. The saw assembly is mounted on pads having a low coefficient of friction. Pressurized air and lubricant are delivered to the pads to reduce the friction.

  • Patent number: 6186291
Abstract: A braking system for a drive mechanism for a hoist and similar operating motors used on heavy equipment. A rotor is fixedly mounted to a shaft of the drive mechanism. Actuators having brake shoes are mounted strategic to the rotor. The brake shoes are forced against the rotor by springs of the actuators to produce a braking action. The shoes are released from the rotor by hydraulic pressure compressing the springs of the actuators. Controls are provided to coordinate the action of the actuators with the function of the drive mechanism.

  • Patent number: 6186136
Abstract: A chain saw for aggregate material has a nozzle that provides a spray of water to that portion of the saw chain that is traveling between the guide bar and the drive sprocket. The flooding provided by the nozzle washes slurry off of the saw chain. A basin with inclined baffles is provided to collect the slurry carried by the saw chain into the housing. Apertures are provided in the basin for discharging the collected slurry.

  • Patent number: 6183758
Abstract: A skin absorbent cream including the ingredients MSM, urea, propylene glycol and a large molecular medication. This combination of ingredients softens the skin to allow penetration of the medication through the skin and into the underlying blood vessels. The large molecular medication dissolves in the propylene glycol between as low as 25° C. to 150° C. and becomes the transporter through the outer skin layer and into the blood stream.

  • Patent number: 6178858
Abstract: This invention applies to a shape sawing system for sawing lumber pieces from a curved cant portion. A scanner scans the cant portion as it is conveyed on a conveyor system and inputs the scan data into a computer. The computer determines the curvature and position of the cant portion on the conveyor system. The conveyor system conveys the cant portion through side chippers and into a saw. The side chippers are independently laterally adjustable to follow the curvature of the cant portion. Guide members mounted strategic to the saw guide the cant portion into the saw. The saw is pivotally and laterally adjustable to follow the curvature of the cant portion to produce full length and partial length lumber pieces from the cant portion.

  • Patent number: 6170628
Abstract: An automatic clutch for a vehicle drive train to selectively connect and disconnect a drive portion of the drive train to a driven portion of the drive train, the drive and driven portions having adjacent and mated spline portions at a designated position in the drive train. A clutch ring slidably mounted to one of the spline portions and slidable into engagement with the other spline portions. The designated position adjacent a portion of the vehicle frame and a remote controlled actuator secured to the portion of the vehicle frame. A bearing member of the actuator engaging the clutch ring for urging sliding movement of the clutch ring. Improvements to the above include application of the actuator clutch to front and rear wheel ends for conversion of the vehicle between two-wheel and four-wheel drive, the actuator being mounted to the steering knuckles. Also, improved bearing packs are provided for better performance and to facilitate assembly.
