  • Patent number: 4891514
Abstract: A device for monitoring radon exposure including a cube-shaped, light-tight detection chamber having approximately one-inch square sides, five sides of which each contain an integrated circuit alpha particle detector, with a sixth side having fluid intake and exhaust ports and temperature and humidity sensors. Each integrated circuit device is responsive to detect alpha particles emitted by any decaying radon-222 atoms or daughter isotopes within the detection chamber. The detected results of each integrated circuit device is communicated to an external logic system which calculates the relative level of radon concentration within the chamber and stores the information in memory, or reports the information to a variety of peripheral devices.

  • Patent number: 4888734
Abstract: An EPROM structure incorporating Vss isolation transistors having gates on wordlines shared by respective rows of conventional self-aligned EPROM cells, and having source and drain regions connected in series between EPROM cell source regions and the ground Vss terminal. An isolation transistor becomes conductive only when an EPROM cell sharing its wordline is selected. During programming, otherwise possible leakage current through unselected cells sharing the selected bitline is blocked by the Vss isolation transistor. Only one unselected adjacent cell, which shares a common source region with the selected cell, can leak. This leakage, if properly suppressed and compensated, has no disturbance on unselected or selected cells during array programming. The EPROM cell drain punchthrough voltage and channel length can thus be reduced to obtain an EPROM cell with a low threshold voltage, low drain programming voltage, short programming time, low cell junction and bitline capacitance, and high read current.

  • Patent number: 4872070
Abstract: A system and method for high speed video tape reproduction wherein an optical disc player having two read heads located on opposite sides of the master disc is used to scan the individual tracks of the disc and develop electrical signals representing the data stored thereon. The two read heads are configured so that one head scans and reads even numbered tracks of the disc while the second head simultaneously scans and reads odd numbered tracks of the disc, which is being rotated at twice the standard rotational speed. The output electrical signals are then mixed and separated so that all data stored in a first portion of each track is formed into a first stream of electrical signals and all data stored in a second portion of each track is formed into a second stream of electrical signals. The two streams of electrical signals are then processed and delayed, as is necessary, so that the signals can be recorded by a video tape recorder having four write heads located around the circumference of its head drum.

  • Patent number: 4870946
Abstract: The present invention includes a reversible concrete cutting saw blade and one or two blade attachment plates having radial grooves formed in the blade engaging faces thereof, such that when the plates and blades are joined, radial passageways are formed between the plates and the blade. An inlet tube, communicating with a rotatable inner hub introduces cooling fluid into internal passage ways within the hub under positive flow conditions, thereby causing the fluid to flow through the hub to the radial passageways in the plates and then be centrifugally dispersed down the grooves along the surfaces of the blade.

  • Patent number: 4870404
Abstract: An alarm actuating sensor device for use in a picket barrier intrusion detection and location system including a generally t-shaped rocker element for rigid attachment to the upper end of a picket and for disposition within the upper longitudinally extending rail providing support for the picket, an elongated rocker spring pivotally engaged at its mid-point by a pin passed through the end of the picket and including downwardly turned end legs for engaging the lower wall of the rail and for exerting a biasing force on the picket pending to resist downward translation thereof, and a length of dual conductor "tape switch" the longitudinal axis of which extends generally along the longitudinal axis of the rail and passes between the rocker element and the rocker spring, whereby downward forces applied to the picket, or lateral forces tending to bend to the picket, cause the tape switch to be pinched between at least one extremity of the rocker spring and a portion of the rocker element thereby creating an electri

  • Patent number: 4866834
Abstract: A methode serves for producing bores in wheels of motor vehichles, in particular for producing mounting bores (14) in a wheel disk (12) or valve bores in a rim of the wheels. The bore has a larger diameter (D.sub.1, D.sub.3) in the area of the surfaces (135, 136) of the wheel disk than in the area between these surfaces. In order to enable a countersunk portion to be produced in the area of the bore also in the surface opposite the machining surface, with the wheel in a signle mounting position, a tool (160) is employed whose bottom face exhibits a hook-like configuration (162, 163, 164, 165) and which can be passed through the bore in vertical direction (170), in axially displaced relation. Thereafter, the tool (160) is returned to a position in which it is aligned with the axis (15) of the bore, then rotated and retracted. whereby a countersunk portion (144) of larger diameter is produced. Finally, the tool can be removed from the bore by carrying out the described steps in the reverse order.

  • Patent number: 4862336
Abstract: A truss unit having an elongated frame and rows of lights suspended downwardly from the frame. The lights are mounted on rods for displacement in a sliding motion in a direction transverse to the elongated frame. A first rigid lateral member is pivotally connected to a first side of the frame at a hinge joint, while the second rigid lateral member is pivotally hinged to a second side opposite the first. The first and second lateral members each have a longitudinal extension at least as great as that of the rows of lights. The truss unit has an operation configuration in which the lateral members extend upwardly to display the rows of lights. In the operation configuration the lights are moved to an extreme spaced apart position and the lateral members are locked in place by diagonal braces. Prior to transport, the truss unit may be moved to a transportation configuration with the first and second lateral members extending downwardly to protect the rows of lights.
