  • Patent number: 5491412
Abstract: A security circuit includes a Hall-effect sensor for generating an output signal in response to a sensed variation in magnetic field strength. A supply voltage source is connected to the Hall-effect sensor. A latch circuit receives the Hall-effect sensor output signal and generates a latched output signal. The latch circuit operates between a set and a reset state. Circuitry is provided for monitoring the supply voltage source and for generating an output signal applied to the latch circuit. The latch circuit generates the latched output signal in response to the Hall-effect sensor output signal and the output signal generated by the monitoring circuit when the supply voltage is at a predetermined level. The latch circuit is reset when the supply voltage is below the predetermined level.

  • Patent number: 5491565
Abstract: A source facsimile apparatus includes a modem having a variable transmission rate and is connected by a radio link to a destination facsimile apparatus which is located in a mobile subscriber station within a radio network. Facsimile data is transmitted at a selected data transmission rate from the source facsimile apparatus to a modem within an interworking function located in the radio network. A buffer memory stores the facsimile data received by the modem of the interworking function. The facsimile data is then transmitted from the buffer memory via the radio link to the destination facsimile apparatus within the mobile station. If the radio link does not allow facsimile data to be sent to the mobile station at about the same rate it is being received by the modem of the interworking function, the latter is changed to bring the two into closer conformity.

  • Patent number: 5488103
Abstract: A composition adapted to convert hydrogen sulfide and organic sulfides to nontoxic polymers. The compositions comprise amine resin solutions made by reacting sterically hindered amines such as selected diamines, triamines, amino alcohols, and mixtures thereof, with aldehydes, aldehyde donors, or the reaction products of lower alkanolamines and lower aldehydes. The subject compositions are preferably made by reacting the sterically hindered amines and aldehyde components in about a 1:1 molar ratio at a temperature ranging from about 110.degree. to about 120.degree. F. (about 43.degree. to about 49.degree. C.), using enough of the sterically hindered amine to produce a reaction product having a pH ranging from about 10.5 to about 12. Streams containing hydrogen sulfide or organic sulfides are preferably treated by contacting such streams with from about 2 to about 4 ppm of the amine solution of the invention per ppm of sulfide.

  • Patent number: 5486605
Abstract: A composition is disclosed that is adapted to convert hydrogen sulfide and organic sulfides to nontoxic polymers. The compositions comprise amine resin solutions made by reacting sterically hindered amines such as amine heads with aldoses selected from the group consisting of D-aldoses having from 3 to 6 carbon atoms. Streams containing hydrogen sulfide or organic sulfides are preferably treated by contacting such streams with from about 2 to about 4 ppm or more of the amine solution of the invention per ppm of sulfide.

  • Patent number: 5484257
Abstract: A device for generating rotating shaft power from atmospheric air includes an airfoil. A partition is disposed within the airfoil along the length thereof. The partition forms an upper chamber and a lower chamber within the airfoil. The partition includes an aperture creating a fluid communication path between the upper and lower chambers. The leading edge of the airfoil includes an aperture disposed adjacent to the lower chamber. The top surface of the airfoil includes an aperture disposed adjacent to the upper chamber. A turbine is disposed within the partition aperture, and is adapted to be driven by fluid pressure entering the leading edge aperture of the airfoil and exiting the top surface aperture of the airfoil.

  • Patent number: 5485081
Abstract: A system for reducing the number of points to be tested on a printed circuit board where the printed circuit board includes a plurality of network traces each having end points and a plurality of pads provides for the identification of the end points of each network trace of the plurality of network traces. Certain ones of the plurality of network traces network located within a predetermined distance of one another are grouped to form a plurality of groups of network traces. The identified end points of the grouped network traces are connected together within each group of network traces to form a continuous trace having one pair of end points for each group of network traces. The end points are used for testing the printed circuit board.

  • Patent number: 5482311
Abstract: A backrest adjusting device for a stroller includes a slidable seat slidably mounted to each of two limbs of a backrest frame member of the stroller. Each slidable seat includes a receptacle, a spring mounted in the receptacle, a first pin mounted above the spring and transversely passing through an associated limb of the backrest frame member, a stop piece mounted in the receptacle and located above the first pin thereby defining a lowermost position of the slidable seat, and a second pin projecting outward from an outer periphery thereof. A pull bar is mounted between the slidable seats. The second pins engage with sockets defined in a frame of the stroller when the backrest frame member is in a substantially upright position. The backrest frame member is pivotable to a substantially horizontal position when the second pins disengage with the sockets upon actuation of the pull bar which causes upward movement of the slidable seats.
