  • Patent number: 5813871
Abstract: A connector (10) for interconnecting circuitry (12, 16) of two circuit boards (14, 18) which carry relatively high frequency signals, includes a receptacle connector (20) and a mating plug connector (24). The receptacle connector (20) includes shield plates (56) between each adjacent pair of signal contacts (58) and the mating plug connector (24) includes a central elongated ground plate (136) that electrically engages each of the shield plates (56). The ground plate (136) includes a plurality of leads (142) along its length that engage ground pads on the circuit board (18). The plug connector (24) includes an outer shield (146) that substantially surrounds the plug connector (24) and includes leads (148) that are attached to the leads (142) of the elongated ground plate (136).

  • Patent number: 5785548
Abstract: The invention comprises a power tap connector of the type for terminating by insulation displacement a pair of conductors. The connector includes a housing for receiving at least a pair of upstanding IDC terminals. A pivotally mounted conductor wire carrier has front and rear faces arranged on the housing. The wire carrier is pivotal from a first conductor unterminated position to a second conductor terminated position. The wire carrier has a conductor receiving opening extending from the front face to the rear face for each the IDC terminal. An IDC terminal receiving slot is in communication with each opening, whereby an insulated conductor may be positioned for termination to a corresponding IDC terminal within the opening by entry thereto through either the front face or the rear face.

  • Patent number: 5759048
Abstract: An electrical connector 10 is disclosed for connecting two printed circuit boards 50,60. The electrical connector 10 features a insulative housing 12 having a plurality of contacts 18 disposed in contact-receiving slots 32. The contact-receiving slots 32 extend between the mating faces 22,24 and back to a curved end wall 30. A retainer pin 16 is pressed into a retaining slot 14 of the housing to hold the contacts 18 firmly against the curved end wall 30 at a center point 28. Upon mating, the contact will experience a wiping action across the pads 52,62 of each of the circuit boards.

  • Patent number: 5718145
Abstract: A high speed stamping and forming machine (10) is provided having a ram (34) capable of sustained high speed operation. The ram (34) is pivotally attached to a connecting rod (36) which is eccentrically coupled to a drive shaft by means of an eccentric (40) and hydrostatic bearing (50). The drive shaft (30) is journaled in hydrostatic bearings (84, 86) in the frame (12) of the machine. The ram reciprocates toward and away from a bolster plate (20) within a ram bearing (138) having hydrostatic bearings therein.

  • Patent number: 5685737
Abstract: This invention provides a modular jack receptacle connector (2) which has at least one recess (10) for receiving an indicator (4). The recess is profiled to have a lead receiving section (26) with detents (32) along its sides for retaining at least one of the leads (6) which extend rearwardly and then downwardly from the indicator (4). Also provided along the sides of the recess are guide projections (12) for cooperating with guide recesses (14) in the indicator (4) for proper alignment of the indicator in the receptacle (2).

  • Patent number: 5637919
Abstract: A perimeter independent precision locating member (22) for a semiconductor chip (10) so that contact sites upon the chip will be reliably positioned relative to connection members (18), such as contacts or leads, so that the chip may be electrically engageable. The locating member (22) is disposed upon the surface of the semiconductor chip (10) at a specific position relative the contact sites within the perimeter (24) of the chip and being closely matable with a complementary portion of a housing that contains the connection members (18). The method of making the perimeter independent precision locating member (22) for a semiconductor chip (10) involves coating the chip with a layer of photocurable material, masking the material in relation to the contact sites so that the portion of the material that will become the locating member (22) is exposed, illuminating the exposed portion of the photocurable material, and stripping from the chip the uncured portion to define the locating member (22).

  • Patent number: 5520548
Abstract: An electrical connector comprises an electrical receptacle terminal 10 enclosed in an insulating housing 8. The terminal 10 is enclosed in a passageway 64 in the housing 8, the passageway 64 having a flexible wall section 80. Camming surfaces 176, 174 on the housing of a mating connector 6 compress the flexible wall section 80 to produce an interference fit between the flexible wall section 80 and the terminal 10. Movement of the terminal 10 within the passageway 64 is thereby avoided when the mating connectors are subjected to vibration. Latch arms 116 (FIG. 4) on the housing are connected by a U-shaped resilient strap 118 at their rear ends to provide a pivot point about which the latch arms 116 are pivotable between a normal position in which they engage a projection 178 on the mating connector 6 in a latching position. Molding of the housing is also facilitated and the latch arms 116 are protected against damage when the housing is being handled. In another embodiment (FIGS.
