  • Patent number: 5594458
Abstract: A process and a device are useful for calibrating measurement sections for measuring noise field strengths of electrical appliances and/or to determine calibration factors for measurements of noise field strengths by means of the frequency spectrum, in particular up to 1 GHz. To this end, fields are generated by the comb generator in a known reference measurement section, preferably a standard measurement section or a free-field test site, and in a measurement section to be measured with a single calibration device or with a single interference emitter having, in particular, the same operating parameters. These fields are measured in the same manner and the calibration factors are calculated in function of the frequency by comparing the measured values.

  • Patent number: 5533692
Abstract: A beam of electromagnetic radiation is spatially encoded using a digital phase modulation technique. The spatial encoding defines the beam cross section into a series of resolution elements each identified by a different digital code. The codes defining resolution elements are detectable by a missile located in the radiation beam and can be used to define the location of the missile in this beam. In the preferred embodiment, an encoding mask, moved through the beam at its source, provides the digital phase modulation. The mask is provided with a series of bit areas, each of which bears at least two sets of cyclically recurring bands effective to modulate a detectable parameter of the radiation, such as intensity. The spacing between adjacent bands of a set, termed a bit cycle, is proportional to a predetermined phase of the modulation of the beam parameter.

  • Patent number: 5502954
Abstract: Flap folding device of a wrapping machine. Side folding guides approach side flaps to hit a hitting part against the closed side faces of a wrapped body part of a content or volume, thereby pressing a wrapped body part, near the base end of the side flaps that face the closed side faces, against the closed side faces. Subsequently, the middle part of each of the side folding guides makes a quarter turn while tracing a corner continued to the closed side faces,. Therefore, the base ends of the side flaps are folded along the corners while being pulled toward the forward end thereof, and, at the same time, are pressed by folding parts against the open sides, through the entire length, from the base end to the forward end, of the side flaps.

  • Patent number: 5500305
Abstract: A vacuum insulated panel having high thermal insulating value and long vacuum life, and a method of making such a panel are disclosed. The panel is formed of peripherally welded metal wall members which define a cavity within which, in one embodiment, a compressed block of particulate material is disposed. The particulate material, in this embodiment, serves as a barrier to radiant thermal transmission through the panel, acts as a getter to maintain the vacuum in the panel, and supports the walls of the panel against collapse when the cavity is evacuated. The vacuum insulated panel can be covered with a polyurethane foam insulating material. According to a further embodiment of the invention, the filler within the cavity is a sandwich comprising a compressed layer of particulate material suspended between two layers of fiberglass.
